Abstract:In the sequence of channel routing, area detailed routing and area-oriented routing methodology, the paper introduced multi-layer gridless routing algorithms presented in the decade. Based on the detailed analysis, we give some conclusions and present the direction of the future work.

Abstract:In order to improve the routing ratio and routing speed in large scale routing problem,a multi-layer gridless routing algorithm with V-shaped framework was presented,in which global and detailed router ran alternately.The algorithm is comprised coarsening step and fine step.In coarsening step,global routing and detailed routing were done to local nets in each level and routing results could be obtained in advance.Consequently,the scale of routing was reduced level by level and at the same time,the interaction of global routing and detailed routing and the accuracy of routing-resource-estimation were increased.In the fine step,routing solution was optimized and the failed nets in coarsening step were rerouted.The global routing used pattern routing method,which had a fast speed,and according to the feature of gridless routing,a resource estimation method was introduced,which estimated resource by sweeping obstacles.Via optimization strategy was introduced in the detailed routing.The experiments showed great improvement in routing ratio and running time.

Abstract:A non-uniform-grid graph model is introduced and a self-adaptive iterative algorithm is presented for multi-layer gridless area routing. The algorithm can not only handle the case in which the number of metal layers is uncertain but also greatly reduce the search space of multi-layer maze routing by converting multi-layer into multiple two-layer pairs. For a multi-terminal net, the paper introduces a minimum Steiner Tree method based on maximum dominant point concept to disassemble it into several two-terminal nets.

Abstract:Wireless sensor networks (WSN) have attracted much attention in recent years for its unique characteristics and wide use in many different applications. Routing protocol is one of key technologies in WSN. In this paper, the position-based routing protocols are surveyed and classified into four categories: flooding-based, curve-based, grid-based and ant algorithm-based intelligent. To each category, the main contribution of related routing protocols is shown including the relationship among the routing protocols. The different routing algorithms in the same category and the different categories are compared based on popular metrics. Moreover, some open research directions in WSN are also discussed.

Abstract:A multi-layer gridless area router is' given in this paper. Based on corner stitching, this router adopts tile expansion to explore path for each net. A heuristic method that penalizes nodes deviating from the destination is devised to accelerate the algorithm. Besides, an enhanced interval tree is used to manage the intermediate data structure. In order to eliminate the effect that the routing order has on final results, a new gridless rip-up and rerouting algorithm is proposed. Test results indicate that the completion rate is improved after the rip-up and reroute process and the speed of this algorithm is satisfactory.

Abstract:With the progress of very large scale integration, using traditional global routing algorithms to solve multi-layer routing problem causes the routing resource waste of lower layers or the lack of higher layers because the pitch size is different in different layer pairs and traditional algorithms use uniform pitch size for all layer pairs. The paper presents a global routing algorithm that performs layer assignment before routing. This algorithm is based on a new flow for multi-layer routing, and uses bounding box of the nets to estimate the congestion, and distributes them to different layer pairs based on the aim of even congestion. The algorithm has been implemented and tested. The experimental results show that the algorithm is more effective.

Abstract:Abstract Compared with single layer satellite network, satellite distribution of multi-layer satellite networks in the double layer or multilayer orbital plane, combines all the advantages of engaging subjects of the satellite, therefore contains its low vulnerability, good robustness, high stability, high spectrum efficiency and system throughput, channel characteristics such as large capacity, in the satellite network is a very promising direction. Multilayer satellite network also has some inevitable disadvantages, that is, the number of nodes and the number of links is large, so it has the characteristics of frequent changes in network topology, which requires higher routing algorithm. There are many researches on routing algorithms based on multi-layer satellite networks at home and abroad. This paper introduces the general situation of multi-layer satellite network, classifies the existing routing algorithms of multi-layer satellite network according to different standards, analyzes several typical routing algorithms in detail, points out the advantages and disadvantages, and summarizes the future development trend.

Abstract:Mobile ad hoc networks are widely used and it is an important task to route efficiently.But traditional routing algorithms are not fit for mobile ad hoc networks due to their dynamic character and many routing algorithms of mobile ad hoc networks were proposed these years.Main classification standards for routing mechanisms were presented.Then basic routing protocols and routing algorithms for mobile ad hoc network were overviewed.After that,as the latest advance of routing algorithms,the prediction-based models,energy models,position-based models,QoS and security in routing algorithms were deeply researched.In prediction-based routing algorithms,using historical information,proper routes were rapidly chosen based on the prediction of nodes' motion.In energy-aware routing algorithms,the consumption of energy was modeled based on the nodes' information.Then we introduced the special applications of the routing algorithms,including position-based routing algorithms,QoS routing algorithms and security routing algorithms.In position-based routing algorithms,forwarding decisions were made based on the geographical position of a packet's destination.The main idea of QoS routing algorithms was to take bandwidth,delay,energy and battery's life cycle into account while routing.In security routing algorithms,messages were encrypted based on secret keys,hash chains and electronic signatures.Last,more than thirty routing algorithms were compared and researched in the fields of computation overhead,communication overhead,storage overhead,optimal path,critical node and the types of the routing algorithms.The characters and applied areas of these routing algorithms were analyzed and the research trends in this field were proposed.

Abstract:The use of multi-granularity OXC in DWDM network results in reduction of the number of ports both for the switches and for the optical multiplexers and de-multiplexers, which lead to cost saving. However, it introduces more difficulties for the routing and wavelength assignment problem. In this paper, a new model, called Multi-Dimension-Graph, is proposed to provide an exact description of the states of multi-granularity WDM network. The algorithm based on the MDS-G can solve routing and wavelength assignment subproblems in multi-granularity networks simultaneously. The simulation results prove that the algorithm based on the MDS-G performs better than existing algorithms that deal with routing and wavelength assignment separately.

Abstract:It is a challenging problem to provide QoS (quality-of-service) guarantee for the next-generation networks, among which QoSR (QoS routing) is one of the key issues. QoSR seeks to find a feasible path for QoS traffic with two objectives: (1) providing the QoS guarantee for QoS traffic, (2) maximizing the utilization of the whole network. However, some multi-constrained QoSR problems, which are NP-complete, can't be resolved accurately in polynomial time. Thus heuristics are studied extensively in recent years. Based on the weighted graph network model and QoS metrics, the basic concept of QoSR is introduced and the hot issues of the unicast QoSR heuristics are analyzed in this paper. QoSR algorithms can be classified into the several classes: polynomial non-heuristics, pseudo-polynomial non-heuristics, QoS metrics restriction, path subspace search, QoS metrics relation, cost functions study and possibility solution. After typical algorithms are analyzed, the summary and conparison are given for each of the above classes. The validity of algorithms is dissected in detail, including the routing loop problem, stale network state information, the impact of the network topologies and traffic models. Based on the validity analysis, a summary is given for the QoSR algorithms based on probability models. At last, key issues are pointed out to be further studied in the QoSR field.

Abstract:A new gridless router to improve the yield of IC layout is presented. The improvement of yield is achieved by reducing the critical areas where the circuit failures are likely to happen. This gridless area router benefits from a novel cost function to compute critical areas during routing process, and heuristically lays the patterns on the chip area where it is less possible to induce critical area. The router also takes other objectives into consideration, such as routing completion rate and nets length. It takes advantage of gridless routing to gain more flexibility and a higher completion rate. The experimental results show that critical areas are effectively decreased by 21% on average while maintaining the routing completion rate over 99%.

Abstract:As technology advances, modern physical synthesis flows pose layer directive and scenic constraints to global routing. Respecting these constraints in global routing is critical to achieve timing closure. In this paper, we propose a 3-D global routing algorithm which simultaneously respects layer directive constraints and scenic constraints. The routing algorithm is based on iterative ripping-up and rerouting. The core components of the algorithm include a 3-D A* search which strictly obeys given constraints, and a net ordering approach which helps to achieve high-quality routing results. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the routing algorithm.

Abstract:With recent achievements in deep learning over the past year, many computer and network applications actively used deep learning architectures including convolution neural network and long short-term memory to improve the performance of their approach through them. The computer network used a complex and dynamic system. For example, routing is the main networking tasks in the fields of the communication network and it is widely used to optimize the optimal routing from the original host to the destination host. However, most of the traditional routing protocol is based on the experience of experts. In this paper, we present an overview of deep learning methods for the routing layer in the computer network. Furthermore, this paper discusses reinforcement learning methods about network routing. Finally, we outline a summary of the current state-of-the-art approaches along with some future research directions.

Abstract:Based on the analyses of the recent routing research productions of the cognitive radio networks(CRN),this paper identifies five critical challenges on the routing research of CRN:neighbor discovery,deafness problem,neighbor disappearance,routing problem and cross-layer design,then some topics about common control channel,path delay and the technical metrics are discussed from the view of research method,which must be considered on the routing research of CRN.After that,we summarize and analyze the scenario design patterns of routing research from four aspects:medium,channel,node and network;study and discuss the main research productions from the views of optimization scheme and routing topology algorithm/protocol in detail at the end of this paper.

Abstract:With the wide use of spatial data,the routing problems play an important role in spatial P2P information field.The history and representative patterns of Peer-to-Peer networks was introduced in this paper.The basic concepts of routing were given.Some P2P-based query routing classical algorithms(Chord,CAN,Pastry,etc.) and the relative improved algorithms(Kademlia,Emergint,SmartBoa,etc.) were enumerated.Considering the characteristics of spatial data,the P2P-based spatial query routing algorithms were summarized such as the interests-sharing algorithm,and the Chord-based algorithms that have four typical patterns: content-accessing,super objects,location replication and geometrical distance,and dimension priority algorithm in the spatial grids,and service encapsulation algorithm.Through these spatial routing methods,the nicer spatial routing methods can improve the performance of system and efficiency,and also can speed up the development of spatial information field.

Abstract:Routing optimization is a well-known yet complicated research topic for decades. On one hand, routing algorithms usually have complex inputs (e.g., structural topology), outputs (e.g., sequential paths for different demands), and optimization goals (e.g., link utilization). On the other hand, due to the rapid change of demands, routing algorithms must be fast enough to make online decisions. Existing methods usually make a tradeoff between performance and efficiency. Offline algorithms [1] tend to cast the problem into a Linear Program (LP), offering near-optimal solutions yet taking up to tens of seconds, which are too heavyweight for rapidly changing networked systems. Online algorithms, such as shortest path (SP) and weighted shortest path (WSP), are broadly used, but their performance is far from optimal due to the ignorance of network status. Conventional heuristic algorithms fail to efficiently capture the dynamics inside varying network demands, which compromises the performance, as shown in Table I.

Abstract:For realizing quality of service guarantee, all multi-user networks adopt the approach of reserving resource per connection requirement, but this will induce many resource pieces in some parts of network, and traditional single routing approach cannot utilize these resources for new connection. In order to improve resource utilization ratio, a multi-path routing algorithm is proposed, which probes and reserves resources in one of several parallel paths according to the status of network and the connection Qos requirements. For verifying the validity, the proposed algorithm is implemented in the simulator of ns2 and its performances is compared with some algorithms. The simulator result shows that the proposed multi-path routing algorithm can well adapt to the status of network. Under the circumstance of the network light load, its communication overhead is smaller, closing to that of single path routing algorithms. Under the circumstance of the network overload, it can combine with several paths to admit new connection, so it improves the network resource utilization ratio and throughput. In conclusion, applying the proposed algorithm to connection-oriented multimedia data network will improve the capability of transmitting multimedia information.
Comprehensive routing strategy on multilayer networks

Abstract:Designing an efficient routing strategy is of great importance to alleviate traffic congestion in multilayer networks. In this work, we design an effective routing strategy for multilayer networks by comprehensively considering the roles of nodes' local structures in micro-level, as well as the macro-level differences in transmission speeds between different layers. Both numerical and analytical results indicate that our proposed routing strategy can reasonably redistribute the traffic load of the low speed layer to the high speed layer, and thus the traffic capacity of multilayer networks are significantly enhanced compared with the monolayer low speed networks. There is an optimal combination of macro- and micro-level control parameters at which can remarkably alleviate the congestion and thus maximize the traffic capacity for a given multilayer network. Moreover, we find that increasing the size and the average degree of the high speed layer can enhance the traffic capacity of multilayer networks more effectively. We finally verify that real-world network topology does not invalidate the results. The theoretical predictions agree well with the numerical simulations.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a new multi-layer area routing algorithm with optimized pin mapping strategy. The algorithm can handle large routing problems, in which terminals and obstacles arbitrarily located in the routing area. An optimized pin mapping strategy is proposed in this paper as a pre-process before routing. We use the best matching of a bipartite graph to solve the pin-mapping problem. We tested our algorithm on a set of benchmark examples and compared our routing results with the results without pin-optimized mapping. Experiment results show that, the algorithm efficiently shortens the total wire length greatly and increases the routing completion rate.

Abstract:With rapid development of Internet,the line speed of core router has reached 2.5Gbps and even 10Gbps beyond.This speed orders core router to be able to forward ten millions of packets per second.Route lookup is an important step of packet forwarding,so high speed IP address lookup algorithm is the key component of high speed packet forwarding.IP address lookup requires a longest matching prefix search.In the last couple of years,various algorithms for high-performance IP address lookup have been proposed.In this paper,the difficulty of route lookup is analyzed.and a surved of all kinds of lookup algorithms,which are comparted in detail,is also presented.At last,some challenging open problems are identified.
Asynchronous Multi-Nets Detailed Routing in VLSI Using Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

Abstract:Detailed routing is a crucial challenge in modern integrated circuit (IC) design. Due to the continuous increase in design complexity and complicated design rules, avoiding routing conflicts between nets becomes more and more challenging. Conventional routing strategies like the rip-up and re-route scheme may need to spend huge efforts on avoiding conflicts between nets with overlapping routing areas. To resolve this challenge, in this paper, we propose a detailed router based on multi-agent reinforcement learning for handling conflicting nets. First, we approximate nets of detailed routing as agents and regard the pin-connection task as path planning to achieve the asynchronization of routing. Second, we assign each agent a local field of view to reduce feature size and difficulty in training. Finally, in order to eliminate routing congestion, we set an information storage unit for the information communication of each agent. The evaluation results show that the proposed multi-agent reinforcement learning scheme outperforms the baseline learning methods by 11.6%.
