Doubling detection and reduction in inkjet printing

Abstract:Nowadays, the main concern for printing quality in inkjet printing is doubling. In colored character printing, doubling can make the printed character blurred and hard for reorganization. By analyzing the designed test patterns and utilizing digital image processing methods, the accurate locations of ink droplets propelled by each nozzle can be obtained and the set of shift parameters of doubling can be calculated. According to this parameter set, a method was proposed to reduce doubling based on the halftone image. This method is independent of devices and halftone styles. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique has high accuracy in doubling detection and can well reduce doubling in colored character printing. Meanwhile, it can meet the real-time demand of high speed printing.
