Abstract:Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC) is a generic cryptographic primitive that enables distributed parties to jointly compute an arbitrary functionality without revealing their own private inputs and outputs. Since Yao’s seminal work in 1982, 30 years of research on SMPC has been conducted, proceeding from pure theoretical research into real-world applications. Recently, the increasing prevalence of the newly emerging technologies such as cloud computing, mobile computing and the Internet of Thing has resulted in a re-birth of SMPC’s popularity. This has occurred mainly because, as a generic tool for computing on private data, SMPC has a natural advantage in solving security and privacy issues in these areas. Accordingly, many application-oriented SMPC protocols have been constructed. This paper presents a comprehensive survey on the theoretical and practical aspects of SMPC protocols. Specifically, we start by demonstrating the underlying concepts of SMPC, including its security requirements and basic construction techniques. Then, we present the research advances regarding construction techniques for generic SMPC protocols, and also the cutting-edge approaches to cloud-assisted SMPC protocols. Then, we summarize the concrete application-oriented protocols that are currently available, and finally, we present a discussion of the current literature and conclude this survey.

Abstract:Secure multiparty computation of set membership is significant to privacy-preserving data mining,data query,etc.In this paper,we first transform the original problem into the one-time evaluation problem for polynomial,and then construct four protocols.We design the trivial protocol 1 using homomorphic encryption and construct the efficient protocol 2 using discrete logarithm instead of encryption,which is very concise.Lastly,according to the different application scenarios,we also propose protocol 3 and protocol 4:the former can be used to outsource computation in cloud computing environment;the latter can be used for public secure computation against repudiation.The analysis and comparison show that our protocols are more efficient and concise than previously known.

Abstract:Secure multi-party computation with its applications is an important direction in current cryptography research field. The research focuses on how to accomplish the secure cooperative computation among multi-party without the participation of the third party. The two-party bargaining protocol, based on homomorphic public key cryptosystem, was an example of secure multi-party computation's applications. One participant can make a bargain with the other by implementing the protocol. During the implementation of protocol, the privacy of input and the correctness of output could be preserved. The protocol can be implemented without the participation of the third party and its security was based on additive homomorphic public key cryptosystem.

Abstract:Secure multi-party computation (MPC) allows a set of parties to jointly compute a function on their private inputs, and reveals nothing but the output of the function. In the last decade, MPC has rapidly moved from a purely theoretical study to an object of practical interest, with a growing interest in practical applications such as privacy-preserving machine learning (PPML). In this paper, we comprehensively survey existing work on concretely efficient MPC protocols with both semi-honest and malicious security, in both dishonest-majority and honest-majority settings. We focus on considering the notion of security with abort, meaning that corrupted parties could prevent honest parties from receiving output after they receive output. We present high-level ideas of the basic and key approaches for designing different styles of MPC protocols and the crucial building blocks of MPC. For MPC applications, we compare the known PPML protocols built on MPC, and describe the efficiency of private inference and training for the state-of-the-art PPML protocols. Furthermore, we summarize several challenges and open problems to break though the efficiency of MPC protocols as well as some interesting future work that is worth being addressed. This survey aims to provide the recent development and key approaches of MPC to researchers, who are interested in knowing, improving, and applying concretely efficient MPC protocols.

Abstract:Intelligent agents (IA) are autonomous entities which observe through sensors and act upon an environment using actuators to adjust their activities towards achieving certain goals. The architectures of agents have enormous potentials when they are applied into critical systems, where agents choose actions between working with their own and cooperating with others. Rational utility-based agents choose actions to maximize their expected utilities. Rational secure multi-party computing (RSMPC) means secure multi-party computing (SMPC) in the presence of rational utility-based agents. Here, we call them rational parties. In this paper certain goals of rational parties are maximizing their utilities. The introduction of rational parties considers the incentives in executing protocols. The security definitions under rational framework can better demonstrate the executing environment of real protocols. Furthermore, rational two-party computing removes some impossibility in traditional two-party computing, such as fairness. This paper represents the research status of RSMPC and some typical protocols. The advantages and disadvantages of previous rational SMPC protocols are discussed here. As an emerging field, there are still lots of open problems in RSMPC, such as communication channels, utility assumptions and equilibrium notions etc.
A Secure Multiparty Quantum Least Common Multiple Computation Protocol

Abstract:In this paper, we present a secure multiparty computation (SMC) protocol for least common multiple (LCM) based on Shor's quantum period-finding algorithm (QPA). Our protocol is based on the following principle: the connection of multiple periodic functions is also a periodic function whose period is exactly the least common multiple of all small periods. Since QPA is a probabilistic algorithm, we also propose a one-vote-down vote protocol based on the existing secure multi-party quantum summation protocol, which is used to verify the results of the proposed LCM protocol. Security analysis shows that under the semi-honest model, the proposed protocol is secure with high probability, while the computational consumption remains at polynomial complexity. The protocol proposed in this paper solves the problem of efficient and secure multiparty computation of LCM, demonstrating quantum computation potential.

Abstract:Although secure multi-party computation breaks down data barriers, its utility is reduced when participants have limited computation and communication resources. To make secure multi-party computation more practical, there exists an approach to distribute users' private inputs to multiple servers in a secret sharing manner, and the servers accomplish secure computation tasks through interaction. We propose a new secure computation framework that enables the detection of malicious cloud servers by introducing homomorphic MACs. We utilize pairing-based homomorphic commitments to record MACs on a bulletin board, providing public verifiability while reducing the computation burden on the cloud servers. Additionally, our framework not only supports the underlying general computation, but also prepares for various types of nontrivial high-level operations, such as comparison and bit decomposition. We design a smart payment platform enabling fair payment with the help of smart contracts to protect the rights of both data owners and cloud service providers. Compared to previous works, our framework breaks the limitations of servers being restricted to semi-honest or even honest and provides public verifiability. Performance evaluations demonstrate satisfactory computation and communication efficiency during the online phase of our system.

Abstract:In traditional rational multi-party computation, parties are assumed to have utility functions and they act according to the utility assumptions. In economics and political scenarios, parties in multi-party computation may have some other properties such as reputation which plays an important role on boosting mutual cooperation in multiparty computation. In this paper we put forward a new kind of parties satisfying reputation assumption and utility assumptions. Meanwhile we construct a social rational multiparty computation protocol under incomplete information and incomplete network to facilitate the implementation of the protocol within constant rounds.

Abstract:Secure multi-party computation(SMPC) is an important research field in cryptography, secure multi-party computation has a wide range of applications in practice. Accordingly, information security issues have arisen. Aiming at security issues in Secure multi-party computation, we consider that semihonest participants have malicious operations such as collusion in the process of information interaction, gaining an information advantage over honest parties through collusion which leads to deviations in the security of the protocol. To solve this problem, we combine information entropy to propose an nround information exchange protocol, in which each participant broadcasts a relevant information value in each round without revealing additional information. Through the change of the uncertainty of the correct result value in each round of interactive information, each participant cannot determine the correct result value before the end of the protocol. Security analysis shows that our protocol guarantees the security of the output obtained by the participants after the completion of the protocol.

Abstract:The security of data flow is the core technology of data fusion and sharing service. This paper uses MPI communication mechanism for reference to meet the multi-party flow of trusted data, set up a multi-party security computing framework to form a privacy protection computing framework, and considers the actual needs of semantic security and efficient processing capacity. SMPC chooses ElGamal homomorphic encryption system. The paper defines addition and subtraction operations, multiplication operation, set operation, space vector operation and comparison operation. Respective operation process providing simultaneously. Based on multi-party computing, the application methods of data verification and correlation analysis are proposed, and the feasibility of the method is illustrated by the performance evaluation of the calculation.

Abstract:Quantum information processing protocols have great advantages over their classical counterparts, especially on cryptography. Secure multi-party computation is one of the most important issues and has been extensively studied in cryptography. It is of both theoretical and practical significance to develop the quantum information processing protocols for secure multi-party computation. In this paper, we consider the secure multi-party computation for n-variable polynomial functions over the finite field GF(d). We propose two protocols using quantum resources to compute the function within a one-time execution. One is based on d-level mutually unbiased (orthonormal) bases with cyclic property and the other takes advantage of quantum Fourier transform. Analytical results show that the proposed protocols are secure against a passive adversary with unlimited computing power, including colluding attack mounted by n - 2 parties. We also implement the second protocol of the special case d = 2 on the IBM Q Experience. In principle, our proposals can be experimentally realized in the arbitrary d dimension with the advances in realizations and controls of high-dimensional quantum computation.

Abstract:Secure computation enables two or more parties to jointly evaluate a function without revealing to each other their private input.G-module is an abelian groupM,where the groupG acts compatibly with the abelian group structure onM. In this work, we present several secure computation protocols forG-module operations in the online/offline mode. We then show how to instantiate those protocols to implement many widely used secure computation primitives in privacy-preserving machine learning and data mining, such as oblivious cyclic shift, oneround shared OT, oblivious permutation, oblivious shuffle, secure comparison,oblivious selection,DReLU,andReLU,etc. All the proposed protocols are constant-round, and they are 2X 10X more efficient than the-state-of-the-art constant-round protocols in terms of communication complexity.

Abstract:Data interaction scenarios involving multiple parties in network communities have problems of trust, data security, and reliability of the parties, and secure multiparty computation(SMPC) can effectively solve these problems. To address the security and fairness issues of SMPC, this study considers that semi-honest participants can lead to deviations in the security and fairness of the protocol, and combines information entropy and mutual information to present an n-round information exchange protocol in which each participant broadcasts a relevant information value in each round without revealing other information. The uncertainty of the correct outcome value is blurred by the interaction information in each round, and each participant is not sure of the correct outcome value until the end of the protocol, which effectively prevents malicious behavior and ensures the correct execution of the protocol. Security and fairness analysis shows that our protocol guarantees the security and relative fairness of the output obtained by the participants after completing the protocol.

Abstract:<p>Cloud computing has become one of the most popular distributed computing paradigms in recent years. With its advantages of low cost, on-demand flexibility, and high data processing abilities, more and more enterprises have adopted the cloud computing paradigm to build up their IT infrastructure. By performing collaborative computation tasks (e.g., big data analysis tasks) with multiple datasets of different correlated enterprises in cloud computing, the generated valuable information will provide the enterprises with higher productivity and financial gains. However, due to the privacy concerns from the enterprises, how to efficiently enable them to achieve secure multi-party joint datasets analysis in cloud computing without leaking their own private dataset becomes a critical but challenging problem for the enterprises. In this paper, focusing on securely performing any collaborative computation task in cloud computing, we construct a generic server-aided secure multi-party computation protocol to tackle the problem. Our solution can provide security guarantee in the setting where at most n-1 client parties are malicious while the server is semi-honest and there is no collusion between the server and clients. The security and experimental performance analysis show that this work is currently the most efficient server-aided secure multi-party computation protocol with the same security guarantee compared with all the previous works to the best of our knowledge.</p>

Abstract:. Protocols for secure multiparty computation (MPC) enable a set of parties to interact and compute a joint function of their private inputs while revealing nothing but the output. The potential applications for MPC are huge: privacy-preserving auctions, private DNA comparisons, private machine learning, threshold cryptography, and more. Due to this, MPC has been an intensive topic of research in academia ever since it was introduced in the 1980s by Yao for the two-party case (FOCS 1986), and by Goldreich, Micali and Wigderson for the multiparty case (STOC 1987). Recently, MPC has become eﬃcient enough to be used in practice, and has made the transition from an object of theoretical study to a technology being used in industry. In this article, we will review what MPC is, what problems it solves, and how it is being currently used. We note that the examples and references brought in this review article are far from comprehensive, and due to the lack of space many highly relevant works are not cited.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet of Things, the demand of data sharing is not only to ensure the data integrity, but also to protect user's individual privacy. Secure multi-party computation, as a technology paradigm based on cryptography technology, enables privacy protection in data sharing among multiple parties, while the implement of secure multi-party computation is limited due to the inefficient, complex computation protocol and frequent interaction. Fortunately, the emergence of blockchain technology provides excellent properties of decentralization, verifiability and high reliability for secure multi-party computation. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-based secure multi-party computation architecture for data sharing, where we design an aggregator consortium for data storage, verification and joint computation. Moreover, we introduce a straightforward secure multi-party computation scheme based on homomorphic encryption. In addition, we analyze and discuss this scheme in terms of data security, access flexibility, attack resistance and potential applications.

Experimental Secure Multiparty Computation from Quantum Oblivious Transfer with Bit Commitment

Abstract:Secure multiparty computation enables collaborative computations across multiple users while preserving individual privacy, which has a wide range of applications in finance, machine learning and healthcare. Secure multiparty computation can be realized using oblivious transfer as a primitive function. In this paper, we present an experimental implementation of a quantum-secure quantum oblivious transfer (QOT) protocol using an adapted quantum key distribution system combined with a bit commitment scheme, surpassing previous approaches only secure in the noisy storage model. We demonstrate the first practical application of the QOT protocol by solving the private set intersection, a prime example of secure multiparty computation, where two parties aim to find common elements in their datasets without revealing any other information. In our experiments, two banks can identify common suspicious accounts without disclosing any other data. This not only proves the experimental functionality of QOT, but also showcases its real-world commercial applications.

Abstract:Secure multi-party computation is a focus of international cryptography in recent years. Protocols for Yao's millionaires' problem have become an important building block of many secure multi-party computation protocols. Their efficiency are crucial to the efficiency of many secure multi-party computation protocols. Unfortunately, known protocols for Yao's millionaries' problem have high computational complexity or communication complexity. In this study, based on the 1-out of-m oblivious transfer and set-inclusion problem, we propose a new protocol to solve this problem. This new protocol is very efficient in terms of both computational and communication complexities. Its privacy-preserving property is also proved by simulation patadigm which is generally accepted in the study of secure multi-party computation. We also compare the information leakage of our new protocol and the known protocols.

Abstract:Recently multi-party quantum private comparison (MQPC) has attracted more and more attentions in the research of quantum cryptography. In our paper, a new MQPC protocol has been proposed by encoding the compared secrets on the phase of n-level single photons. From the proposed protocol, a generic model named circle model can be summarized. With the help of a semi-honest third party (TP), it can be proved that our protocol is immune to the outside attack and dishonest participants’ (including TP) attack.
