Building Web Information Integration Systems

Abstract:The Web is based on a browsing paradigm that makes it difficult to retrieve compositive information from multiple sites. Web information integration systems,as a sophisticated solution to this problem,enable easy retrieval for comprehensive information from the Web. Based on a prototype we have implemented a Web information integration system,which is called Aoede. This paper introduces the design and implementation of the systems by analyaing many of its main issues,including architecture ,information resources ,wrapper,mediator ,query optimization and execution. Difficult problems are highlighted and respective possible solutions to them are also given.
