Abstract:The experiment was conducted to study the effects of common and emulsified phytosterols on growth performance, serum biochemical parameters and nutrient digestibility in finishing pigs.A total of 75 finishing pigs with initial body weight of about 60 kg were randomly allotted into 3 groups, and fed basal diet to the pigs in the control group, and the same diet supplemented with 30 mg/kg common or emulsified phytosterol was given to pigs in the experiment group for 52 d.The results showed that phytosterol did not affect growth performance of pigs. But concentrations of total cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG) and A/G in serum were decreased (P < 0.05) by both phytosterols, significantly increasing total protein and globulin levels. However, content of serum albumin of group Ⅰ was significantly lower than that in control group (P < 0.05),there was no obvious difference in Group Ⅱ;digestibility of dry matter, organic matter and crude protein of finishing pigs were markedly improved (P < 0.05),and digestibility of crude fat in Group Ⅱ was markedly higher than that in control group (P < 0.05).It was concluded that both phytosterols improved nutrient digestibility and regulated serum lipid and protein metabolism in finishing pigs by adding 30 mg/kg of two kinds of phytosterols to diet of finishing pigs, and action effect of emulsified phytosterol was superior to that of common phytosterol based on the data of serum albumin and crude fat digestibility.
