Abstract:Shield tunnel method has great success in the development and utilization of underground space. Because of its advanced and continually improving engineering techniques, shield tunnel machines are being widely used in the constructions of metro lines, channel tunnels and underground pipelines. In the meantime, by reason of high cost, this technique is confined for further application. Based on the analysis of plentiful engineering examples at home and abroad, the cost composition of shield tunnel is studied. According to current technique level, the cost cutting is discussed in the following four main aspects: segment and lining, shield tunnel machine, pit fabrication, and high speed construction, consequently, the aim of cutting engineering cost and directing design and construction can be achieved.
