Abstract:The paper presents a new methodology based on genetic algorithms for radial distribution network planning. The distribution networks created by this method are radial networks in nature. The special variable which is related to the network structure is selected to solve the model of optimizing distribution network annual cost. The number of the variables in the method is the same as the number of the load nodes so that the optimal process becomes efficient. In addition, the algorithm also includes the optimal selection of conductor section by marginal cost method. The result of computation example shows that the proposed method is effective.

Abstract:In view of the actual situation that the method of adopting microcosmic model can hardly satisfy the demands of optimal scheduling of water supply system in China now,the complicated network hydraulic equations were replaced by macroscopic nodal pressure model and the model of relationship between supply flow and water source head.The direct optimal operation model with multi-objective mixed discrete variables of large-scale water supply system was established,based on the condition that the outlet flow obtained by the Q-H pump curve of pump station at each time period was equal to the needed water flow obtained by water distribution network.Genetic algorithm was introduced to deal with the direct optimal operation model of water supply.Methods for handling each constraint condition were put forward,and(overcome) the shortcoming such as premature convergence of genetic algorithm,a solving method was brought forward in which genetic algorithm was combined with simulated annealing technology and self-(adaptive) crossover and mutation probabilities were adopted.An application example shows the feasibility of this algorithm.

Abstract:According to network properties of multisource-multitank water supply system, the hydraulic equations are replaced by macroscopic nodal pressure model and the model of relationship between supply flow and head of water source. By using pump-station pressure heads and initial tank water levels as decision variables, the optimal allocation model of water supply between pump-sources is developed. Penalty function methods are used for converting constraints into the objective functions, and multiply method is adopted to transform multiple objectives into single objective. Then genetic algorithm is introduced to solve the single objective optimal problem, and in allusion to the shortages such as premature of genetic algorithm, the solving method is brought forward in which genetic algorithm is combined with simulated annealing technology and self-adaptive crossover and mutation probabilities. The application example indicates that this algorithm is feasible.

Abstract:The paper proposes a new methodology for assessing the effectiveness of GA parameters in consistently finding similar low cost solutions over a broad range of different starting random number seeds. The method involves testing the parameters of probabilities of crossover (for various crossover types) and probabilities of bitwise mutation with 1000 different random number seeds. In addition, this methodology allows different varieties of GA to be compared so that the methodology with the best performance can be determined. The proposed methodology has been verified for its effectiveness on the previously published benchmark network New York Tunnels Problem.

Abstract:A hybrid genetic algorithm method based on genetic algorithm and complex polyhedral search method was proposed. The complex polyhedral search method was modified by a random parameter to improve its efficiency in convergence. The neural networks provided the nonlinear mapping of theoretical model regarding the dependent variables versus the independent variables of gas fractionation plant. The proposed method can be used to find the steady-state optimal operating condition for a chemical plant. Satisfactory results were obtained.

Abstract:Recently, as the controllability of complex networks attracts much attention, how to optimize networks’ controllability has become a common and urgent problem. In this paper, we develop an efficient genetic algorithm oriented optimization tool to optimize the controllability of arbitrary networks consisting of both state nodes and control nodes under Popov–Belevitch–Hautus rank condition. The experimental results on a number of benchmark networks show the effectiveness of this method and the evolution of network topology is captured. Furthermore, we explore how network structure affects its controllability and find that the sparser a network is, the more control nodes are needed to control it and the larger the differences between node degrees, the more control nodes are needed to achieve the full control. Our framework provides an alternative to controllability optimization and can be applied to arbitrary networks without any limitations.

Abstract:The main core problem in optimization filed is to apply the optimization method devised by adopting a meta-heuristic algorithm to large-scale traffic network layout problem based on contribution center (TNLOSP). Improved Genetic Algorithm (IGA) is proposed to deal with this problem instead of traditional one. Two improvements are added to previous algorithm: Prim Stochastic Algorithm (PSA) and a fair competition strategy. In tuning phase, such core parameters in crossover rate, fairness coefficient $$p_{0}$$, and the like as are synchronously optimized; In comparative analysis phrase, in large part as a consequence of comparison, the thesis focuses on a great deal of experimental analysis on determining more accurately some advantages of the algorithm. Showing though the experiment that improved algorithm has more advantages in efficiency and precision of solutions than traditional one by testing different scale populations. Therefore, proving that these improvements are of feasibility.

Abstract:As the next-generation network architecture becomes more and more complex and the applications become more diverse,how to improve the performance of the network becomes a big problem that we must solve.One important effective method to solve the problem is to rationally allocate and optimize the network resource.Based on the multiservice networks,this paper proposed a new optimization model which is targeted at network resource leveling under the QoS restrictions,and balance of network traffic distribution by optimizing the allocation of the network bandwidth and buffers with an improved genetic algorithm so as to improve the performance of network.A method based on threshold of population stability coefficient to terminate the iteration of the genetic algorithm was given by analysing the variation trend of population stability coefficient.The experiments show that the method is effective to improve the efficiency of the algorithm.

Abstract:The model of intelligent schedule of public traffic vehicles based on the Genetic Algorithm is established according to the characteristics of the public transportation vehicles' scheduling and the Genetic Algorithm,giving attention to the benefits of the passengers and agency.It adopts the true value of the coding method using the start time as the variable and uses the penalty function method to add a variety of constraints to the objective function when constructing the fitness function,which simplifies the calculation.Finally,the simulation results are obtained by using the improved Genetic Algorithm for solving the non-uniform grid schedule.Results show that the improved Genetic Algorithm can find the approximate best result in the huge search space of optimization,and greatly increased the computational efficiency.

Abstract:Abstract The topology optimization of computer communication network is studied based on improved genetic algorithm (GA), a network optimization design model based on the establishment of network reliability maximization under given cost constraints, and the corresponding improved GA is proposed. In this method, the corresponding computer communication network cost model and computer communication network reliability model are established through a specific project, and the genetic intelligence algorithm is used to solve the cost model and computer communication network reliability model, respectively. It has been proved that GA can solve the complex problems of computer working environment better, which is 80% higher than the general algorithm, and can select the optimal scheme pertinently.

Abstract:Lifeline systems, such as water distribution and gas supply networks, usually cover large areas. For these systems, seismic design is always a difficult problem because of the complexity of large‐scale networks. In this paper, a topology optimization technology for lifeline networks is established. Firstly, in order to speed up the convergence of optimization process, an element investment importance analysis is carried out to evaluate the importance of components to the lifeline network. Then a topology optimization model is established. The aim of the model is to find the least‐cost network topology while the seismic reliability between the sources and each terminal satisfies prescribed reliability constraints. For this optimization problem, a genetic algorithm, which takes network topologies as the individuals of its population, is used to search for the optimal solutions by suitable operators, including selection, crossover and mutation operators. The capacity of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by its applications to a simple example network consisting of 10 nodes and an actual network with 391 nodes located in a large city of China. Abstract:A mathematical model and a genetic algorithm are proposed to solve a logistics network optimization problem. Combined with the characteristics of urban logistics and e-commerce, the sum of transportation costs, construction costs and maintenance costs are considered in the model to describe the total logistics cost in the network. Since the model is an NP problem, the genetic algorithm is used to solve it. At last, an example is applied to verify the model. From the analysis of the result, it is clear that the mathematical model can effectively solve the logistics network optimization problem and the genetic algorithm is an appropriate integer programming algorithm.

Abstract:For network planning, resource optimization was put forward, and a mathematical model of resource optimization was set up. It was seen from the analysis that the modern optimization algorithms are mainly used to solve the mathematical model of resource optimization, and then genetic one used for solving this model of resource optimization. This genetic algorithm made a difference to traditional genetic algorithm. Firstly, the designed inimitable crossover probability and idiographic mutation one designed, can find optimal schema as soon as possible as well as enlarge searching area to solve deceptive problem. Secondly, being used inspecting and self-renovating operator can ensure that each son individual passing through crossover and mutation meets the feasibility. Finally, an example for showing validity of this algorithm was given.

Abstract:Introduction was made to the improved genetic algorithm, and it was combined with the reactive optimization theory. In virtue of Matlab, this method was applied in multi-goal reactive optimization of wind-generation-set-contained IEEE-14 node and IEEE-30 node system. Algorithm example analysis shows that with the improved genetic algorithm, the active net loss of the goal function was reduced, calculation speed raised. There is theoretical application significance in reactive optimization of wind-power-contained power network.

Abstract:Urban medium-voltage distribution network planning is a multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem. The network dataset of the planning district is built through Component GIS (ComGIS) platform, based on which the multi-objective genetic algorithm is used. The network analysis function of ComGIS platform is used to solve single loop optimization, simplifying the codification strategy. And the crossover and mutation operator are designed according to the character of codification. The orientation of evolution is directed through fitting function based on Pareto order of multi-objective optimization problem. Finally, a set of candidate loop networks is gotten, which are convenient for engineers to choose. The algorithm has been applied to a real power distribution system, showing its potential in practice.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of genetic algorithm, the author proposes a research on optimization of a logistics transportation network. First, combined with the distribution characteristics of logistics, starting from the relevant research theories of vehicle routing problems, the vehicle travel distance is considered in the basic model of vehicle routing optimization, a vehicle routing model with soft time window is established to minimize the total cost, respectively, and a vehicle routing model with multiple distribution centers. Second, on this basis, according to the actual problems and model needs of the research, using the basic principle of genetic algorithm, the solution algorithm design of the built model is carried out and we use MATLAB for programming, so that the solution of the built model is finally realized. We set T = 100, S = 50, Pc = 0.95, Pm = 0.1. β1 = 0.005, β2 = 1, and β3 = 0.005. Finally, the actual distribution data of the G supermarket chain in the region are used as the experimental data; by picking two shipping instances, the two constructed models and the designed genetic algorithm are verified, respectively.

Abstract:Air pollutant emission inventory is an important input parameter for chemical transport models (CTMs). Since great uncertainties exist in the emission inventory, further improvements and refinements are required. In this paper, genetic algorithm (GA), a global search and optimization method, was applied to optimize the emission inventory for the Models-3/Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model. An emission optimizing system based on GA was developed and embedded to the CMAQ through the design of several core modules, which implemented the basic functions such as emission adjusting, GA population initializing, CMAQ results evaluating and GA operating. Hypothetical and real-data experiments were respectively performed to examine the validity of GA for emission calibrating. GA showed good performance in both experiments and was always able to find the global minimum. The emission optimizing system was then used to calibrate seasonal PM10 emission inventories of Beijing. Results revealed that PM10 emission in Beijing was underestimated in 2002, an average of 62.74% higher adjustment factor should be imposed on the original emission in target months of different seasons. With the calibrated emission inventories, CMAQ model errors were decreased by 6.46% on average in different seasons. It was concluded that GA was a promising search technique in calibrating emission inputs for CTMs.

Abstract:A bus network needs to be dynamically adjusted to cope with increasing mobility in large cities. Although urban bus network optimization has been explored from many different perspectives, it remains a challenging problem. This article presents a framework of bus network optimization based on Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and genetic algorithms (GA). Given land use and population distribution, the amount of trip generation and attraction at bus stops can be estimated with accessibility models. With these demands, stops are employed in a k-shortest path algorithm to create candidate bus routes between each terminal pairs. A candidate route (CR) is valid only if it meets the criteria of route length, balance of generation and attraction, and minimum number of stops. Bus network individual and fitness function are carefully designed to meet the general requirements of GA. By applying different parameter values in CR generation, four scenarios are created and compared.
