Study on historical roots and evolution of safety culture based on RPYS

Abstract:In order to know the historical roots and evolution of safety culture,taking the papers about the safety culture in-cluded in Web of Science as the basic data, the reference publication year spectroscopy (RPYS) from 1808 to 2017 was drawn by using the RPYS analysis method,and the literatures playing the important role for the generation and development of safety culture in the whole historical period were hackled. The results showed that from 1808 to 1979,the research on the safety culture mainly quoted the classics of early safety field and the methodological achievements in other fields, and they were the main thinking and method sources of safety culture research. From 1980 to 2017,the curve of publication year spec-troscopy increased dramatically,and a lot of classical papers about the safety culture research appeared. The variation of the whole curve reflected the transformation of the safety culture research from the concepts, models, methods and industrial practice to the practice of the hospital safety culture.
