Advances in Study on Photolysis of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

Abstract:The present article introduces the up-to-date advances in the study of the photolysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). First of all, the authors have made a detailed review of the photodecomposition of PAHs in liquid medium, on solid matrix and in gaseous medium and the applications of QSAR model so as to make a clear prediction of the processes of photolysis of PAHs. And, then, on the basis of the above summary, the author has come up with some proposals on the research of photolysis of PAHs in the near future. Needless to say, much more work remains to be done, such as the mechanism of photolysis of PAHs as well as seeking of new semiconductor catalyzers so as to find out ways to their practical application to PAHs photolysis.
