Impacts of Urbanization on the Water Resources System -- A Case Study of Nanjing

Abstract:With the development of urbanization,more and more human activities have led a series of damages to the nature.As one of the most important factors,water resources have been destroyed heavily.Many problems of urban water resources system have(become) increasingly serious,such as increasing quality deterioration of surface water and groundwater,and so on.with a rapid process of urbanization,Nanjing faces a cruel situation of water resources.Almost all rivers have been polluted.The analysis of precipitations shows that there is an increasing trend of precipitation and torrential rains.The research shows that urbanization should be designed and(conducted) under the principle of resources conservation.To protect the water resources system,the thesis points out that there is much to do,such as urban wetlands protection,wastewater recycle and water pollution control by ecological method.
