Abstract:Rural tourism is a new travel style that sprang up in our country in the last 10 years. It is an ecotourism activity, which takes the tourism resource of rural areas as the attraction. Rural tourism is an important component in China's rural economy and tourism industry development in this century, and also it is a strong impetus in promoting the rural economy. This paper analyzes the significance of rural tourism in the development of China's rural economy. Firstly, it can create more job opportunities as well as increase the income of peasants. Secondly, it can give strong impetus to the development of some related industry and improve rural industrial restructuring. Thirdly, it can promote farmers' awareness of market economy and renew their conception, thus benefiting the development of rural economy. Finally, it is beneficial to protect traditional rural landscape, rural culture and rural ecological environment, and maintain sustainable development of rural areas. The author also points out the elementary conditions for the mutual sustainable development of rural tourism and its economy. Firstly, better geographical position such as the perimeter of cities or scenic areas, and a lot of markets shares are necessary. Secondly, the special tourism resource and better ecological environment must be attractive to tourists. Finally, governmental support and farmers/ participation are also required. The mutual sustainable development of rural tourism and economy has its strong realistic significance and referential value. It helps to solve the three problems in agriculture that some regions in our country face, and also to achieve the overall construction of a well-off society. In order to maintain the mutual sustainable development of rural tourism and economy, six patterns are put forward. At last, with respect to the types of rural tourism resource, the rural tourism is classified into four types. They are rural nature landscape tourism, the agriculture tourism, folk culture tourism, country settlement and building tourism. And on the basis of these four types of rural tourism, the corresponding measures are proposed.
