Abstract:Influenced by the Western modern and post-modern art and culture,there appear certain integrating traces between contemporary Chinese and Western culture,so that literary theory in the new century extends its theoretical dimensions in the existing symptoms and crises: literary theory is becoming a kind of pan-cultural theory embracing philosophy,sociology,psychology,and media studies in one;Chinese literary theory begin to has its own thought transformation and discourse construction after long-term follow-up of the Western discourse;literary theory breakthroughs the frame and becomes a type of cultural interaction by infiltrating into other fields;post-orientalist and post-colonialist literary discourse moves forward to its concern about the cultural interpretation of the major text(class,gender,culture,nationality,discourse oppression,power operation,etc.) from its concern about the interpretation of the minor text(language,rhetoric,character,moral,etc.);and modernistic privative literary theory of pure speculation no longer has its own dominating discourse space.Instead,the life experience of the poets,novelists and essayists on the one hand,and the secularized emotions of mass esthetics on the other,are absorbed and sublimed into an innovative theory.And this raises a few new questions for the self-innovation and theoretical reflection of Chinese literary theory to be analyzed and defined with concentration.
