Systematic evaluation on peer support training for patients with chronic diseases

Abstract:Objective:To analyze and summarize the selection criteria,training,assessment content and methods of peer support training for the chronic diseases,and provide evidence support for the construction of a variety of chronic disease peer training manuals.Methods:It searched the randomized controlled trials or quasi experi-mental on peer support training for chronic diseases from The Cochrane Library,MEDLINE,PubMed,EMbase, CBM,CNKI.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,the 2 researchers screened documents,extracted data,evaluated the quality,and then analyzed by descriptive analysis.Results:A total of 14 papers were included in the study.The inclusion criteria for peer supporters mainly included:①recommendation of relevant organiza-tion;②having certain social skills;③qualifications;④volunteer experience.In the training content,it mainly em-phasized on the professional knowledge of the disease,peer support core skills training and the introduction of the role function of peer supporters.Evaluation contents were determined according to the training content, mainly including the knowledge of disease control,peer support core skills assessment,curriculum satisfaction and self efficacy.Conclusion:This systematic evaluation on peer support training for patients with chronic dis-ease provided reliable evidences for the establishment of AIDS peer support manual.It suggested that the train-ing of AIDS peer supporter should be carried out from professional knowledge of disease,core skills and peer role function.The teaching forms were diversified and it emphasized the role playing.It suggested that the exam of training results could be carried out from aspects of mastering level of disease related knowledge,core skills, course satisfaction.and self efficacy.
