Abstract:The monoid of invertible substitutions on a two letter alphabet is introduced and shown to be generated by three of its elements. A necessary and sufficient condition is given for the fixed points of two invertible substitutions to be locally isomorphic.

Abstract:The main results obtained in this paper are as follows: For a commutative semi-ring, we (introduce) a new definition for localization, and discuss its properties; For commutative semi-rings A_1,A_2,…, and A_n, it is proved that the localization of the direct product A_1×A_2×…×A_n is isormorphic to the direct product of the localizations of A_1,A_2,…,and A_n; It is proved that the localization of a (commutative) semi-ring possesses the universal property.

Abstract:We shall characterize the structure of invertible substitutions on three-letter alphabet. We show that any invertible substitution, after some cyclic operation, can be written as a finite product of permutations and Fibonacci's substitution. As a consequence, a matrix (of order 3 and with non-negative integral coefficients) is the matrix of an invertible substitution if and only if it is a finite product of non-negative elementary matrices.

Abstract:It is known on the one hand that a Sturmian sequence can be generated geometrically by the intersections of a straight line with the unit grid in the plane, and on the other hand that fixed points of invertible substitutions are Sturmian. We give a new characterization of invertible substitutions, which allows to determine the straight line which generates the fixed point of a given invertible substitution.

Abstract:0. In this short note, we derive some nonabelian localization formulas in a very simple way. The method is to use Witten’s idea of multiplying the integral by a Gaussian and then to complete square. The localization procedure we use is different from Witten’s in that we do not need the Bismut localizing factor e−tDλ as in [W], at the same time we avoid the use of Fourier transform in [JK]. Along the way we will also derive Martin’s formula which relates nonabelian symplectic reduction to the abelian case. The method is rather elementary and applicable to other situations which we hope to discuss on a later occasion. We remark that all of the basic results in this note, which grows out of my trying to understand this circle of ideas, are due to Jeffrey-Kirwan, Martin and Witten. Our sole contribution is pointing out a different way to derive them. Other quite different approaches to such type results have also been obtained by Guillemin-Kalkman [GK], Martin [M] and Vergne [V]. The interested reader may compare these different methods and formulas. I would like to thank A. Astashkevich, S. Martin especially S. Abstract:In this paper, we prove that every invertible $2$-local or local automorphism of a simple generalized Witt algebra over any field of characteristic $0$ is an automorphism. In particular, every $2$-local or local automorphism of Witt algebras $W_n$ is an automorphism for all $n\in \mathbb{N}$. But some simple generalized Witt algebras indeed have $2$-local (and local) automorphisms that are not automorphisms.

Abstract:This paper mainly studies nonnegativity decision of forms based on variable substitutions. Unlike existing research, the paper regards simplex subdivisions as new perspectives to study variable substitutions, gives some subdivisions of the simplex T_n, introduces the concept of convergence of the subdivision sequence, and presents a sufficient and necessary condition for the convergent self-similar subdivision sequence. Then the relationships between subdivisions and their corresponding substitutions are established. Moreover, it is proven that if the form F is indefinite on T_n and the sequence of the successive L-substitution sets is convergent, then the sequence of sets {SLS^(m)(F)} is negatively terminating, and an algorithm for deciding indefinite forms with a counter-example is obtained. Thus, various effective substitutions for deciding positive semi-definite forms and indefinite forms are gained, which are beyond the weighted difference substitutions characterized by "difference".

Abstract:We prove that the cohomology jump loci of rank one local systems on the complement in a small ball of a germ of a complex analytic set are finite unions of torsion translates of subtori. This is a generalization of the classical Monodromy Theorem stating that the eigenvalues of the monodromy on the cohomology of the Milnor fiber of a germ of a holomorphic function are roots of unity.

Abstract:We define "Locally Nameless Permutation Types", which fuse permutation types as used in Nominal Isabelle with the locally nameless representation. We show that this combination is particularly useful when formalizing programming languages where bound names may become free during execution ("extrusion"), common in process calculi. It inherits the generic definition of permutations and support, and associated lemmas, from the Nominal approach, and the ability to stay close to pencil-and-paper proofs from the locally nameless approach. We explain how to use cofinite quantification in this setting, show why reasoning about renaming is more important here than in languages without extrusion, and provide results about infinite support, necessary when reasoning about countable choice.

Abstract:We introduce a notion of "local stability in permutations" for finitely generated groups. If a group is sofic and locally stable in our sense, then it is also locally embeddable into finite groups (LEF). Our notion is weaker than the "permutation stability" introduced by Glebsky-Rivera and Arzhantseva-Paunescu, which allows one to upgrade soficity to residual finiteness. We prove a necessary and sufficient condition for an amenable group to be locally permutation stable, in terms of invariant random subgroups (IRSs), inspired by a similar criterion for permutation stability due to Becker, Lubotzky and Thom. We apply our criterion to prove that derived subgroups of topological full groups of Cantor minimal subshifts are locally stable, using Zheng's classification of IRSs for these groups. This last result provides continuum-many groups which are locally stable, but not stable.

Abstract:We introduce invertible subalgebras of local operator algebras on lattices. An invertible subalgebra is defined to be one such that every local operator can be locally expressed by elements of the inveritible subalgebra and those of the commutant. On a two-dimensional lattice, an invertible subalgebra hosts a chiral anyon theory by a commuting Hamiltonian, which is believed not to be possible on any full local operator algebra. We prove that the stable equivalence classes of $\mathsf d$-dimensional invertible subalgebras form an abelian group under tensor product, isomorphic to the group of all $\mathsf d + 1$ dimensional QCA modulo blending equivalence and shifts. In an appendix, we consider a metric on the group of all QCA on infinite lattices and prove that the metric completion contains the time evolution by local Hamiltonians, which is only approximately locality-preserving. Our metric topology is strictly finer than the strong topology.

Abstract:For a -topological dynamical system , an isomomorphism is a self-homeomorphism such that for some matrix and any , , where denote the self-homeomorphism of given by the action of . The collection of all the isomorphisms forms a group that is the normalizer of the set of transformations . In the one-dimensional case, isomorphisms correspond to the notion of flip conjugacy of dynamical systems and by this fact are also called reversing symmetries.Isomorphisms are not well understood even for classical systems. We present a description of them for odometers and more precisely for constant-base -odometers, which is surprisingly not simple. We deduce a complete description of the isomorphisms of some minimal -substitutive subshifts. This enables us to provide the first known example of a minimal zero-entropy subshift with the largest possible normalizer group.

Abstract:In this article we completely characterise constant length substitution shifts which have an almost automorphic factor, or which have a bijective substitution factor. Our approach is algebraic: we study these dynamical properties in terms of a finite semigroup defined by the substitution. We characterise the existence of almost automorphic factors in terms of Green's R-relation, and the existence of bijective factors in terms of Green's L-relation. Our results are constructive.

Abstract:The paper investigates Hölder and log-Hölder regularity of spectral measures for weakly mixing substitutions and the related question of quantitative weak mixing. It is assumed that the substitution is primitive, aperiodic, and its substitution matrix is irreducible over the rationals. In the case when there are no eigenvalues of the substitution matrix on the unit circle, our main theorem says that a weakly mixing substitution $\mathbb{Z}$-action has uniformly log-Hölder regular spectral measures, and hence admits power-logarithmic bounds for the rate of weak mixing. In the more delicate Salem substitution case, our second main result says that Hölder regularity holds for algebraic spectral parameters, but the Hölder exponent cannot be chosen uniformly.

Abstract:For any primitive substitution whose Perron eigenvalue is Pisot unit, we construct a domain exchange measurably conjugated to the subshift. And we give a condition for the subshift to be a finite extension of a torus translation. For the particular case of weakly irreducible Pisot substitution, we show that the subshift is either a finite extension of a torus translation, either a power of the subshift is weakly mixing. And we provide an algorithm to compute eigenvalues of the subshift associated to any primitive pseudo-unimodular substitution.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the local converse theorem and the stability of local gamma factors for $\Mp_{2n}$ via the precise local theta correspondence between $\Mp_{2n}$ and $\SO_{2n+1}$ over local fields of characteristic not equal to 2. As an application, we can prove the rigidity theorem for irreducible generic cuspidal automorphic representations of $\Mp_{2n}$ over number fields.

Abstract:For a nonlinear finite automaton, according to the solution number for equations of its RaRb transformations, there exist two sufficient criteria about its weak invertibility and weak inverse. In this paper,both sufficient criteria are studied further. It is proved that they are equivalent to the injection or surjection of some maps. Sufficient and necessary conditions about weak invertibility or weak inverse for a kind of nonlinear finite automaton are given.

Abstract:Inspired by Ziherl, Dotera and Bekku [17],we generalize the notion of (geometric) substitution rule to obtain overlapping substitutions. For such a substitution, the substitution matrix may have non-integer entries. We give the meaning of such a matrix by showing that the right Perron--Frobenius eigenvector gives the patch frequency of the resulting tiling. We also show that the expansion constant is an algebraic integer under mild conditions. In general, overlapping substitutions may yield a patch with contradictory overlaps of tiles, even if it is locally consistent. We give a sufficient condition for an overlapping substitution to be consistent, that is, no such contradiction will emerge. We also give many one-dimensional examples of overlapping substitution. We finish by mentioning a construction of overlapping substitutions from Delone multi-sets with inflation symmetry.
