Abstract:Robust tracking controller for a class of uncertain nonlinear dynamical systems, which are linearizable by input-output feedback with matching uncertainties, was investigated. In this study, uniform ultimate bound or uniformly asymptotic stability of tracking errors were obtained by different choice of the control gain. A simulation to determine the effectiveness of the proposed approach showed that the control performance was better than that of VSC (Variable Structure Control).

Abstract:In this paper, adaptive control is studied for a class of single-input-single-output (SISO) nonlinear discrete-time systems in strict-feedback form with nonparametric nonlinear uncertainties of the Lipschitz type. To eliminate the effect of the nonparametric uncertainties in an unmatched manner, a novel future states prediction is designed using states information at previous steps to compensate for the effect of uncertainties at the current step. Utilizing the predicted future states, constructive adaptive control is developed to compensate for the effects of both parametric and nonparametric uncertainties such that global stability and asymptotical output tracking is achieved. The effectiveness of the proposed control law is demonstrated in the simulation.

Abstract:This paper proposes a robust adaptive robust controller for nonlinear systems represented by input-output models with unmodeled dynamics. Under the circumstances that the output of the system is bounded, the proposed controller can guarantee that all the variables of the system are bounded in the presence of unmodeled dynamics and time-varying disturbances. The scheme does not need to generate an additional dynamic signal to dominate the effects of the unmodeled dynamics. It is shown that the mean-square tracking error can be made arbitrarily small by choosing some design parameters appropriately.

Abstract:This article investigates the asymptotic tracking control problem for a class of strict-feedback nonlinear systems with delayed full-state constraints and nonparametric uncertainties. It is worth mentioning that delayed constraints, which represent a type of constraints that may be violated initially but required to be satisfied sometime after system operation, are frequently encountered in practice and yet not well addressed in existing works. In addition, it is extremely difficult to guarantee exact tracking performance for nonlinear systems when nonparametric uncertainties are considered in the control design. In this article, we propose a new state-shifting transformation (SST) and a novel asymptotic Lyapunov function (ALF) to deal with delayed constraints and achieve asymptotic tracking, respectively. The transformed states grow to infinity as the original ones approach their limits, and the tracking errors converge to zero as time goes to infinity if the related ALF is always bounded. Hence, the delayed full-state constraints and asymptotic tracking can be guaranteed if the boundness of the transformed states and the related ALF are both ensured. For this purpose, a novel fuzzy adaptive backstepping control scheme based on the proposed SST and ALF is developed. And the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is theoretically authenticated and numerically validated.

Abstract:A robust adaptive controller, based on the backstepping method of Lyapunov function, is designed for a more general class of SISO uncertain nonlinear systems to track a given reference signal. This controller can make the track error converge exponentially to a small bounded neighborhood of zero. Moreover all the signals of the close-loop system are guaranteed to be bounded. This controller capability is confirmed by numeric simulation of the temperature control system of PEMFC stack.

Abstract:In this paper, robust adaptive output feedback control is studied for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems in output-feedback form perturbed by a class of functional nonlinear uncertainties of Lipschitz type. To construct output feedback control, the system is transformed into the form of nonlinear-auto-regressive-moving-average (NARMA), a novel future output prediction is designed based on the NARMA model. With employment of the predicted future outputs, a constructive output feedback adaptive control is proposed with estimates of both parametric and functional nonlinear uncertainties. In the closed-loop system, the effect of the nonlinear uncertainties are completely compensated for such that the exact output tracking is achieved, while other closed-loop signals are guaranteed to be bounded. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:The tracking control is investigated for a class of uncertain strict-feedback systems with robust design and learning systems. Using the switching mechanism, the states will be driven back by the robust design when they run out of the region of adaptive control. The adaptive design is working to achieve precise adaptation and higher tracking precision in the neural working domain, while the finite-time robust design is developed to make the system stable outside. To achieve good tracking performance, the novel prediction error-based adaptive law is constructed by considering the estimation performance. Furthermore, the output constraint is achieved by imbedding the barrier Lyapunov function-based design. The finite-time convergence and the uniformly ultimate boundedness of the system signal can be guaranteed. Simulation studies show that the proposed approach presents robustness and adaptation to system uncertainty.

Abstract:This work develops a robust adaptive control strategy for uncertain strict-feedback systems under unknown time-varying control coefficients and time-varying full state constraints. Unlike the currently studied case where the constraint boundary is dependent on time only, the constraint boundary here depends on the desired trajectory and partial states of the system as well as time. The presented control strategy can ensure that such time-varying full state constraints are not violated, but also guarantee the ultimate bounded stable tracking. Numerical simulation and systematic stability analysis also verify the effectiveness of the presented control strategy.

Abstract:Robust adaptive fuzzy filters output feedback control of strict-feedback nonlinear systems In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy robust output feedback control approach is proposed for a class of single input single output (SISO) strict-feedback nonlinear systems without measurements of states. The nonlinear systems addressed in this paper are assumed to possess unstructured uncertainties, unmodeled dynamics and dynamic disturbances, where the unstructured uncertainties are not linearly parameterized, and no prior knowledge of their bounds is available. In recursive design, fuzzy logic systems are used to approximate unstructured uncertainties, and K-filters are designed to estimate unmeasured states. By combining backstepping design and a small-gain theorem, a stable adaptive fuzzy output feedback control scheme is developed. It is proven that the proposed adaptive fuzzy control approach can guarantee the all the signals in the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded, and the output of the controlled system converges to a small neighborhood of the origin. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated by a simulation example and some comparisons.

Abstract:In this paper, the robust adaptive fuzzy tracking control problem is discussed for a class of perturbed strict-feedback nonlinear systems. The fuzzy logic systems in Mamdani type are used to approximate unknown nonlinear functions. A design scheme of the robust adaptive fuzzy controller is proposed by use of the backstepping technique. The proposed controller guarantees semi-global uniform ultimate boundedness of all the signals in the derived closed-loop system and achieves the good tracking performance. The possible controller singularity problem which may occur in some existing adaptive control schemes with feedback linearization techniques can be avoided. In addition, the number of the on-line adaptive parameters is not more than the order of the designed system. Finally, two simulation examples are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:Based on adaptive nonlinear damping, a robust adaptive output feedback controller is proposed for a multi-input and multi-output nonlinear system with unknown nonlinear parameters, uncertain nonlinearities, bounded disturbance, unmodeled dynamics and uncertain control parameters. It is proved that all the signals in the closed-loop are bounded and the control errors and estimation errors can be made arbitrarily small by choosing some design parameters appropriately. The controller only has an adaptive control parameter and an adaptive observer parameter no matter how high the order of the system is and how many unknown parameters there are. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Abstract:In this paper, the robust adaptive control design problem is studied for a class of non-triangular nonlinear systems with unmodeled dynamics and stochastic disturbances. It is assumed that the states of the systems to be controlled are unmeasurable, and thus an adaptive state observer is first developed. By utilizing the stochastic small-gain theorem and the backstepping recursive design procedure, a robust adaptive output feedback control scheme is then proposed. It is shown that all the signals in the resulting closed-loop system are bounded in probability, and the system output converges to a small residual set of the equilibrium in probability.

Abstract:In this paper, a direct adaptive neural network control algorithm based on the backstepping technique is proposed for a class of uncertain nonlinear discrete-time systems in the strict-feedback form. The neural networks are utilized to approximate unknown functions, and a stable adaptive neural network controller is synthesized. The fact that all the signals in the closed-loop system are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded is proven and the tracking error can converge to a small neighborhood of zero by choosing the design parameters appropriately. Compared with the previous research for discrete-time systems, the proposed algorithm improves the robustness of the systems. A simulation example is employed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:This paper considers the adaptive robust control of a class SISO nonlinear systems in a semi-strict feedback form. The systems may possess both parametric uncertainties and unknown nonlinear functions that may represent modeling errors and external disturbances. With prior knowledge of the bounds of the parametric uncertainties and the bounding functions of the unknown nonlinear functions, a systematic way to combine the backstepping adaptive control with deterministic robust control is developed. The method preserves the advantages of the two methods, namely asymptotic stability of adaptive control in the presence of parametric uncertainties, and guaranteed transient performance with prescribed precision of deterministic robust control for both parametric uncertainties and unknown nonlinear functions. The resulting controller is more flexible and versatile than either adaptive control or robust control alone. Simulation results verify the advantages of the suggested method.

Abstract:Combining the reference signal with a strict-feedback nonlinear continuous system with unknown bounded disturbances and constant unknown parameters,an error system was constructed and its inverse optimal robust adaptive control problem was solved.The inverse optimal controller and parameter adaptive laws were designed by using Backstepping algorithm,thus solving the robust adaptive inverse optimal tracking problem was solved for the continuous system.The results of simulation show the effectiveness of the control algorithms.

Abstract:The output tracking controller design problem is dealt with for a class of nonlinear strict-feedback form systems in the presence of nonlinear uncertainties, external disturbance, unmodelled dynamics and unknown time-varying virtual control coefficients. A new method based on signal compensation is proposed to design a linear time-invariant robust controller, which consists of a nominal controller and a robust compensator. It is shown that the closed-loop control system with a controller designed by the proposed method has robust asymptotical practical tracking property for any bounded initial conditions and robust tracking transient property if all initial states are zero.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel control method for a special class of nonlinear systems in semi-strict feedback form. The main characteristics of this class of systems is that the unmeasured internal states are non-uniformly detectable, which means that no observer for these states can be designed to make the observation error exponentially converge to zero. In view of this, a projection-based adaptive robust control law is developed in this paper for this kind of system. This method uses a projection-type adaptation algorithm for the estimation of both the unknown parameters and the internal states. Robustifying feedback term is synthesized to make the system robust to uncertain nonlinearities and disturbances. It is theoretically proved that all the signals are bounded, and the control algorithm is robust to bounded disturbances and uncertain nonlinearities with guaranteed transient performance. Furthermore, the output tracking error converges to zero asymptotically if the system has only parametric uncertainties. The class of system considered here has wide engineering applications, and a practical example - control of mechanical systems with dynamic friction - is used as a case study. Simulation results are obtained to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed control methodology.

Abstract:In this paper, the adaptive control problem of strict-feedback nonlinear systems with output constraints and input delay is studied. By using the auxiliary system to eliminate the effect of input delay. At the same time, the unknown nonlinear functions are effectively approximated by using neural network. It is explained by the theoretical analysis that the tracking error is asymptotically converging to zero and the constructed Barrier Lyapunov function (BLF) can ensure that the requirement of system output is not violated. Finally, simulation results are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.
