Abstract:Aiming at a class of switched uncertain nonlinear strict-feedback systems under the action of average dwell time switching signal, this paper proposes a novel adaptive neural network output feedback tracking control based on the consideration of the full state constraints. The controller is proposed based on neural networks. One of the key characteristics of the system discussed is that the state variables cannot be measured and the system states need to be kept within the constraint ranges. For the sake of estimating the unmeasured states, the observer is constructed. In order to ensure all states which are within the time-varying boundary, the tangent barrier Lyapunov function (BLF-Tan) is selected in the design process. The boundedness of the closed-loop signals with average dwell time is guaranteed by the designed controllers and all the states limit in their constrained sets. It has been proved that the output tracking error converge to a small neighborhood of zero. In addition, the significance of the presented control strategy is verified and tested by a simulation example.

Abstract:The adaptive asymptotic tracking control problem for a class of stochastic non-strict-feedback switched nonlinear systems is addressed in this paper. For the unknown continuous functions, some neural networks are used to approximate them online, and the dynamic surface control (DSC) technique is employed to develop the novel adaptive neural control scheme with the nonlinear filter. The proposed controller ensures that all the closed-loop signals remain semiglobally bounded in probability, at the same time, the output signal asymptotically tracks the desired signal in probability. Finally, a simulation is made to examine the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:This paper proposes a solution to adaptive output-feedback control for a class of nonsmooth nonlinear systems. First, the concept of semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded (SGUUB) stability that has been widely used for smooth nonlinear systems with lower triangular systems is extended to the nonsmooth systems. Then by resorting to set-valued maps and set-valued derivatives, a new Lyapunov criterion ensuring the SGUUB stability is developed for nonsmooth nonlinear systems, which establishes the theory foundation for the subsequent backstepping control design. With the help of Cellina approximate selection theorem and smooth approximation theorem for Lipschitz functions, the system under investigation is first transformed into an equivalent model. In the sequel, exploring some efficient techniques, an adaptive fuzzy output-feedback controller is constructed for the systems under consideration by utilizing an appropriate observer and the approximation ability of fuzzy systems. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

Abstract:In this paper, adaptive neural control (ANC) is investigated for a class of strict-feedback nonlinear stochastic systems with unknown parameters, unknown nonlinear functions and stochastic disturbances. The new controller of adaptive neural network with state feedback is presented by using a universal approximation of radial basis function neural network and backstepping. An adaptive neural network state-feedback controller is designed by constructing a suitable Lyapunov function. Adaptive bounding design technique is used to deal with the unknown nonlinear functions and unknown parameters. It is shown that, the global asymptotically stable in probability can be achieved for the closed-loop system. The simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in the presence of unknown parameters, unknown nonlinear functions and stochastic disturbances.

Abstract:A stable adaptive neural network control approach is proposed in this paper for uncertain nonlinear strict-feedback systems based on backstepping. The key assumptions are that the neural network approximation errors satisfy certain bounding conditions. By a special scheme, the controller singularity problem is avoided perfectly. The proposed scheme improves the control performance of systems and extends the application scope of nonlinear systems. The overall neural network control systems guarantee that all the signals of the systems are uniformly ultimately bounded and the tracking error converges to a small neighborhood of zero by suitably choosing the design parameter.

Abstract:Global adaptive control problem is addressed for switched stochastic time-delay nonlinear systems with uncertain output function and unknown nonlinear growth rates. By adding a power integrator technique, a delay-independent adaptive output-feedback controller is designed. According to Lyapunov-Krasovskii stability theorem, it is shown that all the states of switched stochastic time-delay nonlinear system asymptotically converge to zero almost surely while maintaining boundedness of the closed-loop system in probability. An example is provided to illustrate the validity of the proposed control method.

Abstract:This article investigates the adaptive event-triggered output-feedback control problem for a class of switched stochastic nonlinear systems with actuator faults. In the existing works, the developed results on adaptive control for switched stochastic nonlinear systems are almost based on the average dwell-time method, and how to construct a desired adaptive controller in the frame of the mode-dependent average dwell time (MDADT) remains a control dilemma. By presenting a general adaptive control rule based on the MDADT, this article implements the adaptive output-feedback control for the switched stochastic system under interest. In the process of controller design, fuzzy-logic systems, a flexible approximator, are utilized to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions. The dynamic surface design approach is employed to avoid taking derivatives of the constructed virtual controls to decrease the difficulty of complex calculation greatly. Meanwhile, a switched observer is designed to estimate the unknown states. In the frame of backstepping design, an event-triggered-based adaptive output-feedback controller is constructed such that all signals existing in the closed-loop system are ultimately bounded under a class of switching signals with MDADT property. Finally, the simulation results show the validity of the proposed control strategy.

Abstract:In this paper, dynamic output feedback control problem is investigated for a class of nonlinear interconnected systems with time delays. Decentralized observer independent of the time delays is first designed. Then, we employ the bounds information of uncertain interconnections to construct the decentralized output feedback controller via backstepping design method. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, we show that the designed controller can render the closed-loop system asymptotically stable with the help of the changing supplying function idea. Furthermore, the corresponding decentralized control problem is considered under the case that the bounds of uncertain interconnections are not precisely known. By employing the neural network approximation theory, we construct the neural network output feedback controller with corresponding adaptive law. The resulting closed-loop system is stable in the sense of semiglobal boundedness. The observers and controllers constructed in this paper are independent of the time delays. Finally, simulations are done to verify the effectiveness of the theoretic results obtained.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to adaptive neural network control issue for a class of nonstrict-feedback uncertain systems with input delay and asymmetric time-varying state constraints. State-related external disturbances are involved into the system, and the upper bounds of disturbances are assumed as functions of state variables instead of constants. Additionally, during the approximations of unknown functions by neural networks, the online computation burdens are declined sharply, since the norms of neural network weight vectors are only estimated. In the process of dealing with input delay, an auxiliary function is applied such that the conditions for time delay are more general than the ones in existing literature. A novel adaptive neural network controller is designed by constructing the asymmetric barrier Lyapunov function, which guarantees that the output of system has a good tracking performance and the state variables never violate the asymmetric time-varying constraints. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to verify the proposed adaptive control scheme.

Abstract:This paper pays close attention to the adaptive neural network tracking control. Aiming at a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with completely unknown output disturbance and unknown time delay, a corresponding robust control method is proposed based on the backstepping design technology. Neural network approximation is introduced as a very effective estimation technique for modeling uncertain partitions in the design process of virtual controller. The suitable Lyapunov–Krasovskii function is constructed, and by using the organic combination of Young’s inequality, unknown time delays are compensated. Nussbaum function is used to handle unknown virtual control directions. A practical robust control method is proposed to deal with the controller singularity problems. A priori knowledge is not required for this method. In this method, all signals achieve semi-global uniform ultimate boundedness, and it is demonstrated that the tracking error eventually converges the region around the origin. The simulation results verify this method’s feasibility and effectiveness.

Abstract:This paper addresses adaptive neural output feedback control for uncertain nonlinear switched systems. The main difficulty for control design comes from the loss of the precise information on those virtual coefficients of each subsystem. To overcome this difficulty, we give a robust observer design scheme by using convex combination approach. Furthermore, develop an observer-based output feedback control strategy. During the procedure of control design, adaptive neural control approach is used to deal with the unknown nonlinear functions and backstepping technique is employed to construct the ideal control laws. It is shown that the presented control law achieves the control issue of getting small tracking error, meanwhile, ensuring boundedness of all the closed-loop signals. Finally, a simulation example is used to test our results.

Abstract:In this paper, an indirect adaptive fuzzy switching control scheme with average dwell-time method is proposed for switched strict-feedback nonlinear systems. By employing fuzzy logic systems to approximate unknown nonlinear functions and combing with the indirect adaptive fuzzy switching controller design procedure, the proposed control scheme can guarantee that all the closed-loop signals are boundedness, and the output of the systems converges to a small neighborhood of the desired trajectory. Finally, simulation results have been conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controllers. It has also been shown that the convergence of parameters and output tracking errors are smoother and faster with the proposed scheme, compared with the conventional adaptive fuzzy control methods.

Abstract:In this paper, the issue of adaptive fuzzy tracking control is addressed for a class of completely non-affine uncertain switched pure-feedback nonlinear systems with unmeasurable states. In such a system, the average dwell time switching rule is adopted, and its stability is discussed for the first time in the sense of finite time. A fuzzy logic system-based switched observer is constructed to approximate unmeasurable states, which reduces the conservativeness stemming from utilizing a common observer for all subsystems. In addition, filter signals are applied to avoid algebraic loop problem existing in adoption of the controller. Then, a novel adaptive finite-time control strategy is developed on the basis of multiple Lyapunov functions approach, dynamic surface control and backstepping technique. It is proved that the designed controllers of subsystems can ensure that all the closed-loop signals are bounded under a class of switching signals with average dwell time, while the tracking error can converge to a small area of the origin in a finite time. Finally, two simulation examples are given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:Three kinds of approximators are widely used in adaptive controllers for the nonlinear systems with uncertainty. They are neural network, fuzzy logic systems and wavelet approximator, respectively. By unifying these three approximators, we developed an on-line approximation based controller for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems. It is proved that with the proposed control law and update laws, the closed-loop system is guaranteed to be stable and the tracking error converges to zero in the presence of unknown nonlinearity. A simulation example is presented to demonstrate the method.

Abstract:Based on adaptive nonlinear damping, a robust adaptive output feedback controller is proposed for a multi-input and multi-output nonlinear system with unknown nonlinear parameters, uncertain nonlinearities, bounded disturbance, unmodeled dynamics and uncertain control parameters. It is proved that all the signals in the closed-loop are bounded and the control errors and estimation errors can be made arbitrarily small by choosing some design parameters appropriately. The controller only has an adaptive control parameter and an adaptive observer parameter no matter how high the order of the system is and how many unknown parameters there are. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Abstract:The problem of adaptive output feedback stabilizing a class of systems with uncertainties and disturbances is considered. The conditions of output feedback stabilizing system are given. Uncertainties of the system can be nonlinear or time varying. They satisfy the so-called matching condition. The bounds of the uncertainties exist, but are unknown. A certain nonlinear controller, which guarantees the states of the system to asymptotically converge to equilibrium point, is designed. Finally, the simulation shows the validity of the result.
