Abstract:The coexistence of chirality and magnetism in one material can lead to many fascinating phenomena. Therefore, four new two-dimensional cyanobridged coordination polymers, [Cu(trans-(1R,2R)-chxn)(2)](3) [W-v(CN)(8)](2)center dot 2DMF (1), [Cu(trans-(1S,2S)-chxn)(2)](3) [W-v(CN)(8)](2)center dot 2DMF (2), [Cu(trans-(1R,2R)-chxn)(2)](3) [Mo-v(CN)(8)](2)center dot 2DMF (3) and [Cu(trans-(1S,2S)-chxn)(2)](3)[Mo-v(CN)(8)](2)center dot 2DMF (4), have been synthesized by using chiral ligands of cyclohexane-(1R,2R)-diamine and cyclohexane-(1S,2S)-diamine as the source of chirality and octacyanometalate ([Mo-v(CN)(8)](3-) and [W-v(CN)(8)](3-)) as bridges, Complexes 1-4 all show two-dimensional layer structures with the topology of (12(3))(2)(12)(3). The four complexes are chiral, as evidenced by circular dichroism measurements. The magnetic behaviours of complexes 1-4 indicate very weak antiferromagnetic interaction is operative between Cu(II) ions and W(V) ions or Mo(V) ions through the weak coordination bonds of cyano bridges.
