Abstract:Porous materials with bicontinuous channel structure such as SiO2, TiO2 and their composite materials can adsorb heavy metals and radioactive pollutants in high-level liquid waste (HLLW). Porous SiO2 aerogels with bicontinuous channel structure and large pore volume were prepared via sol-gel process accompanied by phase separation, followed by ambient pressure drying. SiO2/perfluorosulfonated resin (SiO2/PSR) composite solution were prepared by ultrasonic wave technique with PSR as the carrier and modifier, and SiO2/PSR hybrid films were formed by flow casting. The dual effect of metal ions, including physical adsorption and ion exchange were finally achieved. The adsorption process of Ce(IV) simulating Pu(IV) ions by the synthesized SiO2/PSR hybrid films was studied. The results show that when the mass fraction of SiO2 reaches 15%, the hybrid film shows the best adsorption properties. Sorption of 87.67% Ce(IV) to the SiO2 /PSR hybrid films adsorbent are fulfilled in less than 10 h. This route is therefore an example of innovation not only in the environmentally friendly adsorbents produced by a simple technique, but also in the adsorption processes that promote efficiency and cost savings.
