Abstract:Self-ignition of coal initialed as exothermic oxidation between coal and oxygen is widely considered as a serious hazard in coal industries. To provide theoretical basis for practical detection and simulation of coal self-ignition in the goaf effects of oxygen concentration on loose coal oxidation at low temperatures are studied by programmable isothermal oven experiments under different oxygen concentrations. In our experiments, the particle sizes of coal sample ranged from 1.25mm to 7mm, inlet oxygen concentration of gas can be set between 5% and 21%, the rate of oven temperature increase was 1 degrees C/min, and a gas chromatograph was used to measure emissions of self-ignition of coal. Oxygen consumption rates (RO2) under different oxygen concentrations and temperatures, as well as the apparent activation energy (Ea) and pre-exponential factor (A) in the whole heating process under different oxygen concentrations were calculated. Finally, the relationships between oxygen concentration and the three parameters (RO2, Ea and A) were analyzed. RO2 shows an increasing trend with temperature rise, oxygen concentration has no significant impact on the trend but predominate effect on the reaction rate; at a certain temperature, RO2 shows the increasing trend of RO2 with a rise of oxygen concentration and relationship between them is logarithmic. Ea is not obviously affected by oxygen concentration, the difficulty of reaction can not be change by it, but A increases with the concentration growing.
