Abstract:In this study, we investigate the relationships among buyer-supplier relationships, information sharing and cooperative performance using the data gathered through a survey of 120 Chinese firms. Structural equation model is used in hypothesis test and path analysis. The empirical results suggest that buyer-supplier relationships not only have direct effect but also have indirect effect on cooperative performance through information sharing. In addition, the findings show that factors of buyer-supplier relationships, such as trust, commitment and dependence, have different effects on information sharing and cooperative performance. Among the three factors, trust has the most significant effects on both information sharing and cooperative performance, and commitment also has significant effects on them. However, information sharing doesn't significantly affect information sharing or cooperative performance. This study makes the relevant theory of buyer-supplier relationships and cooperative performance more perfect, and provides the help for corporate managers to create superior cooperative performance in theory.
