Abstract:The status of the 20 genera comprising at least 60 species of Sciomyzidae known from China is reviewed. Ten genera are recorded for the first time from China. A diagnostic key to all genera known from China is provided along with figures of the main characters. The geographic distribution of every genus known from China is discussed and distribution maps are presented. Recorded for the first time in the Oriental Region are 2 genera (Coremacera Rondani, 1856 and Pherbina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830) and 5 species (in Dichetophora Rondani, 1868, Pherbellia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, and Tetanocera Dumeril, 1800). Euthycera meleagris Hendel, 1933, previously synonymized with Dichetophora meleagris (Hendel, 1933), is resurrected as a valid name. Pherbellia brevistriata Li, Yang & Gu, 2001 is placed as a junior synonym of Pherbellia nana reticulata (Thomson, 1869). Reported for the first time are the female of Pherbellia ditoma Steyskal, 1956 and the male of Pherbellia orientalis Rozkosny & Knutson, 1991, both discovered in China during this study.

A key to the species of Diaphorus from Oriental Mainland China is presented.

Abstract:The genus Elephantomyia from China is reviewed. Two species, E. laohegouensis sp. nov. and E. tianmushana sp. nov., are described as new to science. One species, E. inulta Alexander, 1938, is recorded for China for the first time. Seven known Chinese species/subspecies are redescribed and illustrated. A key to the species of the genus Elephantomyia from China is given.

Abstract:The genus Tephrochlamys Loew, 1862, is a small genus in Heteromyzinae of the family Heleomyzidae. Only four species of this genus are known from the Oriental Realm so far: T. fasciata Czerny, 1924, T. javanensis Frey, 1934, T. japonica Okadome, 1967 and T. rufiventris Meigen, 1830. Here, we describe three new species of Tephrochlamys from Oriental China: Tephrochlamys wuyishanensis sp. nov., Tephrochlamys variegata sp. nov. and Tephrochlamys pengi sp. nov. A key to the Oriental species of Tephrochlamys is presented.

Abstract:Seven species of the genus Toxorhina Loew, 1850 have been recorded from China, of which three are known to occur in Yunnan Province. Herein, all known species from Yunnan, China are reviewed with more detailed descriptions and illustrations of the male hypopygium. A species of Toxorhina belonging to the subgenus Ceratocheilus Wesché, 1910 from Yunnan, T. ( C. ) pianmica sp. nov. , is described and illustrated as new to science.

Abstract:No Diaphorinae were known to occur in Shandong of China before. Here, two species of Chrysotus and one species of Diaphorus are described as new to science: Chrysotus bicercusi Liu & Yang, sp. nov., Chrysotus hypnususi Liu & Yang, sp. nov., Diaphorus hadesusi Liu & Yang, sp. nov. While two species, Chrysotus liui Wang et Yang, 2008 and Chrysotus shanxiensis Liu et Yang, 2015 are recorded from Shandong for the first time. Abstract:The genus Compterosmittia S ae ther, 1981 from China is reviewed. Three new species, C. duodecima sp. n., C. lii sp. n. and C. procera sp. n. are described as adult males. C. nerius (Curran, 1930), C. oyabelurida (Sasa, Kawai et Ueno, 1988) and C. togalimea (Sasa et Okazawa, 1992) are recorded from China for the first time and annotated; as a result the diagnosis for the genus is emended. A key to adult males of all known Compterosmittia is also presented.

Abstract:The species of Diaphorus Meigen from Tibet are reviewed. Previously only one species, Diaphorus xizangensis Yang & Grootaert, was known to occur in Tibet. Abstract:Three species of Michotamia are recorded from China. Of these M. aurata (Fabricius, 1794) was previously reported from Hainan and Taiwan. M. assamensis Joseph & Parui, 1995 is recorded from China and Laos for the first time, and M. yunnanensis sp. n., is described and figured. A key to the known species from China is provided. A new name, Michotamia subnigra, is given to Michotamia nigra Scarbrough & Hill, 2000, which is preoccupied by Michotamia nigra (Meijere, 1911).
