Abstract:The paper investigated the global synchronization control problem of dynamic networks with discrete-time communications and input saturation. Based on a geometrical criterion of certain non-linear non-autonomous systems, we proposed a sufficient condition for stability of saturating linear control for a linear networked system. The stability could be ensured simply from a range of gains rather than a complex Lyapunov function. A numerical example is offered to show the effectiveness and the relative analysis.

Abstract:A method of adaptive synchronization of one-dimensional discrete chaotic systems on complex networks is proposed. The nodes of complex networks are constructed by one-dimensional discrete chaotic systems, we consider a general drive-response synchronization model of one-dimensional discrete chaotic systems on complex dynamical networks. Based on the adaptive control technique, the parameter adaptive laws and property conversion laws are given to achieve synchronization and parameters identification simultaneously. Simulation results show that the arithmetic average and geometric mean of all the nodes states are equal, furthermore, the unknown node parameters can be successfully identified, all nodes are transformed to drive nodes. This indicates that chaos synchronization is reached in the whole networks.

Abstract:For solving the chaos synchronization problem between two chaotic systems with bidirectional coupling,a new synchronization method of chaotic systems based on time-delayed feedback was presented.Coupling coefficients between the drive and response systems were assumed identically and states were supposed to be linearly-coupled.Based on the Lyapunov stability theory,the condition was derived for synchronization according to the error dynamic system of the synchronization model.The scope of coupling parameters was obtained by solving Riccati equations. After delay time was selected appropriately,the effects of the states between the response system and the drive system were studied.The results show that the synchronization and control of systems can be guaranteed in the parameter scope.The trace of coupling chaotic systems can be synchronized by the changing delay time of control signal,and the system can be controlled to the fixed point or the period orbit.

Abstract:This note analyzes the synchronization problem for a class of complex networks. The considered network topology, symbolized by adjacent matrices, is assumed to be time-varying and subjected to a Markov process. When designing controllers to synchronize the network, we consider the asynchronous phenomenon occurred between the mode of the adjacent matrices and that of the controllers. A properly defined stochastic process, which is related to the Markov process by a conditional probability is then introduced to indicate the controller mode. Base on this connection, a sufficient condition is derived by using Lyapunov–Krasoviskii theorem to ensure the global synchronization of the considered complex network with a predefined noise attenuation level. The design scheme is presented by solving a series of LMIs. A numerical example is finally provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper presents some novel synchronization methods for two discrete-time chaotic systems with different time delays, which are transformed into two unified models. First, the H ∞ performance of the synchronization error dynamical system between the drive unified model and the response one is analyzed using the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. Second, the novel state feedback controllers are established to guarantee H ∞ performance for the overall system. The parameters of these controllers are determined by solving the eigenvalue problem (EVP). Most discrete-time chaotic systems with or without time delays can be converted into this unified model, and H ∞ synchronization controllers are designed in a unified way. The effectiveness of the proposed design methods are demonstrated by three numerical examples.

Abstract:Applying the sliding mode observer strategy, this paper proposes a new observer-based synchronization scheme in the drive-response framework. If a chaotic system (the driving system) satisfies strictly positive real condition, a sliding mode observer (the response system) can be constructed to synchronize the driving system globally. Further, the hidden message can be approximately recovered by the equivalent control signal in the sense of least mean square. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:This paper investigates the H∞ synchronization problem for two discrete time-varying-delayed nonlinear systems such as Hopfield neural networks, complex systems, recurrent multilayer perceptrons (RMLPs), Chua's circuits etc., which can be transformed into the unified model consisting of a linear dynamic system and a static nonlinear operator. Throughout the paper, first a response system is established according to the drive-response concept. Second, the H∞ performance for the synchronization error dynamical system between the drive model and the response model is analyzed based on the Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique. Then, based on the analysis, a state feedback controller is designed to guarantee the H∞ performance for the synchronization error dynamical system. During the design procedure, novel Lyapunov functions are established to increase the upper bounds of the time-varying delays with their lower bounds fixed such that the conservatism of conditions for the feedback controller synthesis is reduced. Finally an illustrative example is provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control laws.

Abstract:This Letter deals with the synchronization of a class of uncertain chaotic systems in the drive-response framework. A robust adaptive observer based response system is designed to synchronize a given chaotic system with unknown parameters and external disturbances. Lyapunov stability ensures the global synchronization between the drive and response systems even if Lipschitz constants on function matrices and bounds on uncertainties are unknown. Numerical simulation of Genesio–Tesi system verifies the effectiveness of this scheme.

Abstract:This paper investigates the global synchronization problem of complex dynamical networks consisting of a drive network and a response network. Using the decentralized and variable structure control techniques, a control law is derived which guarantees the global exponential synchronization of the drive-response network even with the presence of input nonlinearity. The proposed controller is applicable to complex networks with general nonlinear dynamical nodes. Chaotic networks are used as illustrative examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:In this paper, we address the problem of finite-time adaptive synchronization of two-layer networks, and take the effect of stochastic perturbation into consideration. By adopting the integrated control protocols including a finite-time controller and an adaptive controller, sufficient conditions for realizing synchronization of two-layer networks with identical and nonidentical topologies are derived based on the finite-time stability theory of (stochastic) differential equations. Besides, a wide range of finite-time adaptive synchronization in multilayer networks can be achieved under the proposed strategies. Finally, the classical Chen system and Lorenz system are taken as the examples of node dynamics to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper studies analytically synchronization of two deterministic Boolean networks with time delays, which are unidirectionally coupled in the drive-response configuration. Necessary and sufficient conditions of synchronization are established based on the algebraic representations of logical dynamics in terms of the semi-tensor product of matrices. The synchronization conditions show that, for drive-response Boolean networks, different relations between the inherent state delay and the unidirectional coupling delay may result in distinct synchronization phenomena, and both kinds of time delays that ensure synchronization, if existent, are not unique. Examples are worked out to illustrate the present results.

Abstract:This paper deals with the synchronization of chaotic systems with structure or parameters difference. Nonlinear differential geometry theory was applied to transform the chaotic discrepancy system into canonical form. A feedback control for synchronizing two chaotic systems is proposed based on sliding mode control design. To make this controller physically realizable, an extended state observer is used to estimate the error between the transmitter and receiver. Two illustrative examples were carried out: (1) The Chua oscillator was used to show that synchronization was achieved and the message signal was recovered in spite of parametric variations; (2) Two second-order driven oscillators were presented to show that the synchronization can be achieved and that the message can be recovered in spite of the strictly different model.

Abstract:In this paper, synchronization of an uncertain dynamical network with time-varying delay is investigated by means of adaptive control schemes. Time delays and uncertainties exist universally in real-world complex networks. Especially, parameters of nodes in these complex networks are usually partially or completely uncertain. Considering the networks with unknown or partially known nodes, we design adaptive controllers for the corresponding complex dynamical networks, respectively. Several criteria guaranteeing synchronization of such systems are established by employing the Lyapunov stability theorem. Analytical and numerical results show that the proposed controllers have high robustness against parameter variations including network topologies, coupling structures, and strength. Abstract:This paper considers the problem of controlling a complex dynamical network by means of pinning. We point out that the synchronization criterion given in the form of matrix eigenvalues can be equivalent to a linear matrix inequality criterion. We further investigate network synchronization via pinning and prove several linear matrix inequality theorems. In particular, we theoretically provide two typical pinning strategies based on whether the graph which is made up of unpinned nodes and edges between them is irreducible or not. Numerical simulations including k-regular networks, star-shaped networks and BA scale-free networks, are shown for illustration and verification.

Abstract:For a uniform complex network,a synchronization criterion of this model is given by constructing a Lyapunov function.And an adaptive feedback control scheme is introduced to the network model.It is proved that this network can achieve synchronization dynamically under the adaptive control scheme.Particularly,this controller has strong robustness against the coupling strength and topological structure of the network.Numerical simulations show the effectiveness of the control scheme.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate the synchronization of chaotic Colpitts circuit under non-idea channel.The basic idea is to introduce an adaptive controller to compensate the received distorted signal before it is injected into the response system.The mathematic model of synchronization configuration is described,and numeric simulations are conducted to evaluate the synchronization performance when the adaptive controller is employed with constant and time-variant channel distortion considered.Simulation results indicate that with adaptive controller synchronization performance between the drive and response system of the chaotic Colpitts circuit pair can be significantly improved under constant and slow varying channel distortion.

Abstract:In this paper, the commonly concerned issue of synchronization regions of complex dynamical networks is investigated, for the case when the synchronous state is an equilibrium point. Some simple sufficient conditions for a network to have or have no unbounded synchronization regions of the form (-∞,α1) are established, where α1 is a constant. In addition, a sufficient condition for the existence of a bounded synchronization region of the form (α2,α3) is derived, where α2 and α3 are constants, by using the parameter-dependent Lyapunov function method. Furthermore, some effective controller design methods are presented that can change the synchronization regions, thereby managing the synchronizability of the network. Finally, some numerical examples are given to show that a dynamical network may have disconnected synchronization regions, particularly it may have the coexistence of unbounded and bounded synchronization regions in the form of (-∞,α1)∪(α2,α3).

Abstract:Synchronization control of a time-varying complex dynamical network model is investigated.We assume that the synchronous trajectories,entries of the coupling configuration matrix and inner-coupling matrix of the model are all bounded.When those bounds are a priori known or uncertain,a linear feedback scheme and an adaptive scheme are applied to globally synchronize the network respectively.By constructing the adequate Lyapunov function,we can always let a dynamical network,no matter how it is initialized,achieve asymptotic synchronization under the corresponding control scheme.In particular,the proposed adaptive control scheme shows a high robustness to the uncertainties in topological structure of network,coupling strength between nodes,time delays,etc.Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:A new synchronization theorem for a class of chaotic systems is presented based on nonlinear observer theory. We take the first state variable of the drive system as the driving scalar signal. Its linear feedback gain is a function of a free parameter. It is proven that global synchronization can be attained through simple linear output error feedback. This approach is illustrated by the WGY hyperchaotic system and Chua's oscillator.
