Abstract:Two new recorded species of genus Longidorus (L. pius and L. diadecturus) were recovered and collected from rhizosphere of deciduous trees in Hangzhou of Zhejiang Province and Wuhan of Hubei Province, China, respectively. Morphological identity was confirmed using the revised polytomous key of Loof & Chen, 1999.The codes for identifying the species of L.pius and L.diadecturus are A56-B4-C3-D1-E1-F3-G1-H1-I1 and A4-B23-C5-D3-F2-G2-H1-I1,respectively.L.pius was characterized by medium body size(L=4.7-6.3 mm),anterior region abruptly tapering with rounded lip continuous from body profile,odontostyle long(130-143 μm)and short rounded tail.Meanwhile,L.diadecturus could be distinguished by short body size(3.2-4.6 mm), short odontostyle (108-120 μ m), posterior position of guide ring (33-38 μ m), wide lip region and a relatively anterior vulva. Phylogenetically, the rDNA internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) region of L. pius from China showed 99% supported clade with L. pius topotype (AM743178) from Macedonia, and the similar relationship was obtained in L. diadecturus from China with 99% well supported clade to L. diadecturus type population (AF511416)from Canada.In addition,the 28S region of L.diadecturus from China showed 99% supported clade with L.diadecturus type specimen(AY601584),whereas L.pius noticeably clustered to L.raskii(AJ549983)and Longidorus sp. FDL-2011 (FR775757).The two species, L. pius and L. diadecturus were recorded for the first time in China, and the morphological description and phylogenetic relationships of the given species were provided in this study.

Abstract:Seven species of the genus Toxorhina Loew, 1850 have been recorded from China, of which three are known to occur in Yunnan Province. Herein, all known species from Yunnan, China are reviewed with more detailed descriptions and illustrations of the male hypopygium. A species of Toxorhina belonging to the subgenus Ceratocheilus Wesché, 1910 from Yunnan, T. ( C. ) pianmica sp. nov. , is described and illustrated as new to science.

Abstract:The Australian species of the genus Diochus Erichson, 1839 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Diochini) are reviewed and four new species are described: Diochus basseti sp. nov. and D. weiri sp. nov. from Queensland, D. lawrencei sp. nov. from Northern and Western Australia, and D. slipinskii sp. nov. from Western Australia. Four previously described species from Australia are revised here based on the examination of type material: Diochus divisus Fauvel, 1877, D. octavii Fauvel, 1877, D. longus Lea, 1929, and D. pubiventris Lea, 1929. A key to all eight species is included, along with photographs and line drawing plates for each species. A lectotype for Diochus divisus Fauvel, 1877 is designated.

Abstract:The monotypic family Deuterophlebiidae of China was recorded twice previously from far northwest upon adults, the most parts of this country have not been investigated, leaving a huge blank of knowledge on their morphology, diversity, biology, or distribution. After deliberated collecting and rearing in recent years, we obtained more than one thousand specimens of Deuterophlebiidae, they are classified into five new species herein: Deuterophlebia sinensis sp. nov., D. yunnanensis sp. nov., D. wuyiensis sp. nov., D. acutirhina sp. nov. and D. alata sp. nov. Detailed descriptions and photographs of gathered life stages are given for these new species. Adults of them can be identified by chaetotaxy and length ratio of flagellomeres and legs, microtrichia on postgena and shape of their clypeus, pupae can be recognized by thoracic spines and abdominal chitin bands, and larvae can be separated by setae on thorax and abdomen. Genetic distances between species are 0.086–0.175 based on their COI genes. This contribution represents the first database of the enigmatic Deuterophlebiidae from China and shows a new distribution pattern of Deuterophlebia. In addition, the discovery throws some light on the origin and biogeography of the genus and family.

A key and a morphological summary table to all these Leucophenga species are provided. Phylogenetic relationships among these 21 Leucophenga species, another 14 congeneric, known species from seven groups, and two representative outgroup taxa are reconstructed using 169 DNA sequences of the partial mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (mtCOI) gene. In sum, 13 of the 21 Leucophenga species, which possess the only diagnostic character of the proxima species group (abdominal third tergite shortened, anteriorly discolored in males), are not monophyletic. Therefore, all the Leucophenga species described or redescribed in this study are temporarily classified as unplaced species (except for L. sorii, which has been assigned to the sorii species group) to avoid further confusion.

The phylogenetic relationships among the 17 species of the subpollinosa group are reconstructed by NJ (Neighbor-joining) and Bayesian analyses using 98 DNA sequences of COI (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I) gene. The pairwise intra- and interspecific p-distances of aforementioned sequences are summarized.

Abstract:The Strongylophthalmyia ustulata group (Diptera: Brachycera: Strongylophthalmyiidae) from China is revised. Five species are recognized, including three new species ( S. elongata sp. nov. , S. flavimarginata sp. nov. , and S. sivelli sp. nov. ) and one new record species [ S. ustulata (Zetterstedt, 1847)]. Strongylophthalmyia yaoshana Yang & Wang, 1998, previously placed in the S. ustulata group, is herein transferred to the S. fascipennis group based on its bare antennal arista and patterned wing. A key to the Chinese species of the S. ustulata group is provided.

Abstract:Thirteen Chinese species of Doryctes Haliday, 1836 are recognized. Four new species, D. flavistigma sp. nov., D. hain-anensis sp. nov., D. mayunae sp. nov., and D. yunnanicus sp. nov., are described and illustrated. Abstract:The few already published generic features of the genus Prochasma Warren, 1897 are reviewed and new-found characters are added to make the generic description more comprehensive. A new species, Prochasma diaoluoensis Liu & Stüning, sp. nov. is described from Hainan Province, China. It is the only Prochasma species found on this island and exceptional for its conspicuous pattern, vivid coloration and some morphological characters not observed in other species before. Descriptions and illustrations of adults, their venation, and male and female genitalia are presented. An identification key and an annotated checklist of all presently known species of Prochasma are provided. In addition, a DNA barcode sequence is given for the new species, and preliminary phylogenetic estimations of the genus Prochasma are discussed.

Abstract:The fauna of the genus Stenodynerus de Saussure, 1863 of China is supplemented with one new species and six new records, for a total of 30 recorded species. The new species, S. tongrenensis Zeng, Chen & Li, sp. nov ., is described and illustrated in detail from Guizhou (China). The six following species are newly recorded from China: S . coreanus (Tsuneki, 1970), S . difficilis (Morawitz, 1867), S. kaszabi Giordani Soika, 1976, S . punctifrons (Thomson, 1874), S . steckianus (von Schulthess, 1897), and S . trotzinai (Morawitz, 1895). An updated key to the Chinese species of Stenodynerus is given.
