Abstract:The aim of this paper is to develop a new Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy (A-IF) programming method to solve heterogeneous multiattribute group decision-making problems with A-IF truth degrees in which there are several types of attribute values such as A-IF sets (A-IFSs), trapezoidal fuzzy numbers, intervals, and real numbers. In this method, preference relations in comparisons of alternatives with hesitancy degrees are expressed by A-IFSs. Hereby, A-IF group consistency and inconsistency indices are defined on the basis of preference relations between alternatives. To estimate the fuzzy ideal solution (IS) and weights, a new A-IF programming model is constructed on the concept that the A-IF group inconsistency index should be minimized and must be not larger than the A-IF group consistency index by some fixed A-IFS. An effective method is developed to solve the new derived model. The distances of the alternatives to the fuzzy IS are calculated to determine their ranking order. Moreover, some generalizations or specializations of the derived model are discussed. Applicability of the proposed methodology is illustrated with a real supplier selection example.

Abstract:Considering the hesitancy degrees on pair-wise comparisons of alternatives as interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy (IVIF) sets (IVIFSs), we develop a new fuzzy mathematical programming method for solving heterogeneous multiattribute decision-making problems based on the Linear Programming Technique for Multidimensional Analysis of Preference. In this method, IVIFSs, intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs), trapezoidal fuzzy numbers, linguistic variables, intervals and real numbers are used to represent multiple types of attribute values and the attribute weights are not completely known. The preference relations between alternatives given by decision maker are expressed with IVIFSs of ordered pairs of alternatives. The consistency and inconsistency indices are defined as IVIFSs on the basis of comparisons of alternatives with IVIF truth degrees. The attribute weights and fuzzy ideal solution (FIS) are estimated through constructing a fuzzy mathematical programming model, which is solved by the technically developed method of IVIF mathematical programming. Hereby the distances of alternatives to the FIS are computed to rank the alternatives. Some generalization and discussion on the constructed IVIF mathematical programming model are also presented. A green supplier selection example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model and method. The comparison analyses verify the superiorities of the proposed method.

Abstract:Owing to more vague concepts frequently represented in decision data, mathematical objects introduced by K.T. Atanassov and studied under the name ''intuitionistic fuzzy set'' (IFS) are more flexibly used to model real-life decision situations. The aim of this paper is to develop a new methodology for solving multi-attribute group decision-making problems using IFS, in which multiple attributes are explicitly considered. In this methodology, for each decision maker in the group two auxiliary fractional programming models are derived from the TOPSIS to determine the relative closeness coefficient intervals of alternatives, which are aggregated for the group to generate the ranking order of all alternatives by computing their optimal degrees of membership based on the ranking method of interval numbers. The implementation process of the method proposed in this paper is illustrated with a numerical example.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to develop a linear programming methodology for solving multiattribute group decision making problems using intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) sets. In this methodology, IF sets are constructed to capture fuzziness in decision information and decision making process. The group consistency and inconsistency indices are defined on the basis of pairwise comparison preference relations on alternatives given by the decision makers. An IF positive ideal solution (IFPIS) and weights which are unknown a priori are estimated using a new auxiliary linear programming model, which minimizes the group inconsistency index under some constraints. The distances of alternatives from the IFPIS are calculated to determine their ranking order. Moreover, some properties of the auxiliary linear programming model and other generalizations or specializations are discussed in detail. Validity and applicability of the proposed methodology are illustrated with the extended air-fighter selection problem and the doctoral student selection problem.

Abstract:To handle multicriteria fuzzy decision-making problems, a new multicriteria decision-making method is proposed in which the information about criteria's weights is not completely certain, and the criteria values of alternatives are Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy sets (A-IFSs). Using evidential reasoning algorithms, the criteria values are aggregated; receiving the overall A-IFS for alternatives and the distances between each alternative and the ideal, as well as anti-ideal alternative, are computed. Combining the incomplete certain information of weights, a nonlinear programming model is developed and resolved by particle swarm optimization algorithms to obtain the optimal criteria's weights. The corresponding decision-making procedure is given in detail. Finally, two examples are given to show the feasibility and availability of the proposed method. © 2013 IEEE.

Abstract:Prospect theory is a very effective method to express behavioral decision making under uncertainty. This paper attempts to develop a method to multi-attribute decision making with Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy information using prospect theory. This method first transforms Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy variables into the prospect values using the value function in prospect theory. Based on the aspiration levels, Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy prospect gain and loss matrices are obtained. Then, using the Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic hybrid weight averaging (IVIHWA) operator or the Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic hybrid Shapley weight averaging (IVIHSWA) operator, the comprehensive Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy prospect value of each alternative is calculated. According to the comprehensive Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy prospect values, a ranking method of alternatives is presented. Finally, two illustrative examples are selected to show the feasibility and availability of the proposed method.

Abstract:The aim of this article is further extending the linear programming techniques for multidimensional analysis of preference (LINMAP) to develop a new methodology for solving multiattribute decision making (MADM) problems under Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) environments. The LINMAP only can deal with MADM problems in crisp environments. However, fuzziness is inherent in decision data and decision making processes. In this methodology, Atanassov’s IF sets are used to describe fuzziness in decision information and decision making processes by means of an Atanassov’s IF decision matrix. A Euclidean distance is proposed to measure the difference between Atanassov’s IF sets. Consistency and inconsistency indices are defined on the basis of preferences between alternatives given by the decision maker. Each alternative is assessed on the basis of its distance to an Atanassov’s IF positive ideal solution (IFPIS) which is unknown a prior. The Atanassov’s IFPIS and the weights of attributes are then estimated using a new linear programming model based upon the consistency and inconsistency indices defined. Finally, the distance of each alternative to the Atanassov’s IFPIS can be calculated to determine the ranking order of all alternatives. A numerical example is examined to demonstrate the implementation process of this methodology. Also it has been proved that the methodology proposed in this article can deal with MADM problems under not only Atanassov’s IF environments but also both fuzzy and crisp environments.

Abstract:Multi-criteria group decision making (MCGDM) is a widely used rational and efficient decision methodology used to improve quality. In this paper, an Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy outranking choice method is presented to solve MCGDM problems. We first propose an entropy measure for Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (AIVIFS) and establish an entropy weight model, which is then used to determine the objective criteria weights of the alternatives, and then we extend the Electre I method to take account of the decision makers' Atanassov's interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy number (AIVIFN) assessment information. Based on a graphical representation of the outranking relations, a superiority index and a global superiority index are defined, and then used to choose an optimal alternative or the best non-inferior alternative(s) in the group decision making process. Finally, we give an illustration of the proposed method using a practical supplier selection example, and then compare this method with other current methods.

Abstract:An intuitionistic fuzzy multi-attribute group decision making method based on error propagation and intuitionistic fuzzy power geometric interaction averaging (IFPGIA) operator is presented. In this method, the error propagation theory is imported into intuitionistic fuzzy decision making analysis for the first time, and determine intuitionistic fuzzy attribute weight with error propagation theory; for cases that decision expert weight is unknown, considering that there may be some correlation between membership and non-membership of different intuitionistic fuzzy sets, then we gather attribute weighted decision matrices based on intuitionistic fuzzy algorithm and IFPGIA operator, obtain intuitionistic fuzzy group comprehensive decision matrix, and we rank all the alternatives by calculating relative proximity of alternatives and intuitionistic fuzzy positive ideal solution based on TOPSIS; Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified by an numerical example.

Abstract:This paper extends the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution TOPSIS for solving multi-attribute group decision making MAGDM problems under Atanassov intuitionistic fuzzy set IFS environments. In this methodology, weights of attributes and ratings of alternatives on attributes are extracted from fuzziness inherent in decision data and making process and described using Atanassov IFSs. An Euclidean distance measure is developed to calculate the differences between alternatives for each decision maker and an Atanassov IFS positive ideal solution IFSPIS as well as an Atanassov IFS negative ideal-solution IFSNIS. Degrees of relative closeness to the Atanassov IFSPIS for all alternatives with respect to each decision maker in the group are calculated. Then all decision makers in the group may be regarded as "attributes" and a corresponding classical MADM problem is generated and hereby solved by the TOPSIS. The proposed methodology is validated and compared with other similar methods. A numerical example is examined to demonstrate the implementation process of the methodology proposed in this paper.

Abstract:The intuitionistic fuzzy preference relation (IFPR), whose elements are intuitionistic fuzzy values, is a powerful structure in expressing the comprehensive preference information of a person. In this paper, after reviewing different kinds of consistency for IFPR, we construct a mathematical model to derive the underlying crisp weighting vector from a multiplicative consistent IFPR. Such method is very easy to be understood. As to multiplicative inconsistent IFPR, we claim that there are two ways to repair it, which are interactive method and automatic method. When the expert does not want to interact with the analyst, or if the analyst cannot find the initial expert to re-evaluate and alter his/her preferences, or if consistency must be urgently obtained, the proposed automatic algorithm is efficient and useful. Finally, we propose a procedure for group decision making with IFPRs based on the multiplicative consistency of IFPRs. It is proven that if all individual IFPRs are multiplicative consistent, their overall IFPR fused by IFWG operator is also multiplicative consistent. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the validity and applicability of the proposed methods.

Abstract:In real multi-attribute group decision making,there exist interaction phenomena among decision making attributes and preference of experts,thus an intuitionistic fuzzy-valued integral method for multiple attribute group decision making is investigated.Based on intuitionistic fuzzy-valued measures,an intuitionistic fuzzy-valued Sugeno integral operator is presented.And some properties are analyzed.The intuitionistic fuzzy-valued Sugeno integral operator is applied to deal with multiple attribute group decision making problems.An illustrative example is provided to verify the new method and to demonstrate its feasibility and practicality.

Abstract:Intuitionistic fuzzy preference relations (IFPRs) are important and powerful that can express the decision makers’ preferred and non-preferred judgements simultaneously. To rank objects reasonably, consistency analysis is necessary. Thus, this paper defines a new multiplicative consistency concept for IFPRs that is a natural extension of the crisp case. Using the new concept, 0–1 mixed programming models are constructed to judge the consistency of IFPRs and to determine missing values in incomplete IFPRs. Considering the inconsistent case, an approach to deriving multiplicative consistent IFPRs is presented. To address group decision making with IFPRs, a consensus index is proposed to measure the agreement degree between individual IFPRs. Then, an approach to group decision making with IFPRs is presented that can address the inconsistent and incomplete IFPRs. Finally, two practical examples are provided to show the efficiency and feasibility of the new theoretical results, and a comparison analysis is performed.

Abstract:The concept of intuitionistic fuzzy sets is the generalization of the concept of fuzzy sets. The theory of intuitionistic fuzzy sets is well suited to dealing with vagueness. Recently, intuitionistic fuzzy sets have been used to build soft decision making models that can accommodate imprecise information, and two solution concepts about the intuitionistic fuzzy core and the consensus winner for group decision-making have also been developed by other researchers using intuitionistic fuzzy sets. However, it seems that there is little investigation on multicriteria and/or group decision making using intuitionistic fuzzy sets with multiple criteria being explicitly taken into account. In this paper, multiattribute decision making using intuitionistic fuzzy sets is investigated, in which multiple criteria are explicitly considered, several linear programming models are constructed to generate optimal weights for attributes, and the corresponding decision-making methods have also been proposed. Feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method are illustrated using a numerical example.

Abstract:The existing multiattribute group decision making methods with interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy (IVIF) sets only consider weights of the experts who participated in decision making, however the reliabilities of that are not considered at all. In order to solve this problem and make a much scientific decision, a transformation method from IVIF value to belief degree is defined based on the frame of discernment consisting of only excellent and non-excellent two hypotheses. Then the basic probability assignment (BPA) function computing method is introduced by discounting belief degrees with both weights and reliabilities. The derived BPA functions are combined by the analytically evidential reasoning (ER) methodology for two times, the one is to combine BPA functions on all attributes with respect to a specified expert, and the other is to combine the combined BPA functions for all experts with respect to a specified alternative. Finally, the relative coefficient is employed to rank the alternatives with IVIF sets. An example is proposed to illustrate the decision making process by the proposed method.

Abstract:Intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs) are very suitable to be used for depicting uncertain or fuzzy information. Motivated by the idea of power aggregation [R.R. Yager, The power average operator, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics-Part A 31 (2001) 724–731], in this paper, we develop a series of operators for aggregating IFNs, establish various properties of these power aggregation operators, and then apply them to develop some approaches to multiple attribute group decision making with Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy information. Moreover, we extend these aggregation operators and decision making approaches to interval-valued Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy environments.

Abstract:In this paper we present a new approach to solve multi-attribute decision making problems in intuitionistic fuzzy environment. This approach is based on a new ranking method of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, in which the evaluated values (in the form of intervals) of the same alternative with different attributes are considered as one unified entity. According to people's intuition, the ranking method proposed in this paper is mainly grounded on a revised score function and a revised accuracy function of intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Different from the traditional methods, in this new approach, the degree of membership, the degree of nonmembership and the degree of hesitation are considered with various importance in reflecting the true image of the respective alternative. Furthermore, an optimization model is established to estimate the relative degree of importance of each quantity. Finally, two practical examples are provided to illustrate our approach.
