During the orogenic collapse, the lower crust was removed by delamination in the eastern Dabie in response to the Paleo-Pacific subduction. However, it is still unclear whether the lower crust beneath Tongbai Mountain is also totally delaminated. Attempting to supply new high-quality geophysical data, we deployed a NE-long-period magnetotelluric profile across the Tongbai Mountain to construct its deep resistivity structure. The induction arrows and phase tensors indicate that our data bears significant 3D effects. We thus invert the profile data by using 3D scheme of ModEM. The inverted model characterizes the asymmetric two-way subduction structure of the orogen, where the resistive structures extending to the depth of ∼80 km beneath the north part of the Tongbai Mountain. These features are distinct from the eastern Dabie orogen, indicating that the collision style between the Yangtze and North China blocks and the orogenic collapse are spatially heterogeneous. These findings have obvious implications for resolving the long-standing debate on formation and evolution of the Qinling-Dabie Orogen.
