Abstract:Objective\r\nTo analyze the allergic reactions to common inhalant allergens in children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) , hoping to identify new diagnostic and therapeutic targets in HSP.\r\n\r\n\r\nMethods\r\nA total of 110 children with HSP from February 2011 to May 2012 in our hospital underwent skin prick tests with 13 common aeroallergens using allergen extracts obtained from ALK-ABELLO company (Horsholm, Denmark). The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Beings of West China Second University Hospital,Sichuan University. Informed consent was obtained from the parents of each participating patient.\r\n\r\n\r\nResults\r\nA total of 107 children presented with positive reactions to tested allergens (97.3%). dermatophagoides farinae, dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and periplaneta americana were manifested with the highest positive rates (93. 6 %, 79. 1 % and 63. 6 % , respectively). Of the 101 children had allergic reactions to no less than 3 aeroallergens (91.8%). The positive rates of dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, tropical mites, dog, mugwort and mixed mould I were significantly different among male and female HSP children (P\u003c0. 05). But there was no correlation between the positive aeroallergens and HSP nephritis.\r\n\r\n\r\nConclusions\r\nMost HSP children had positive skin reactions to common aeroallergens. It might be beneficial in the treatment of HSP by reducing exposure to aeroallergens.\r\n\r\n\r\nKey words: \r\nallergens; skin prick test; purpura, Schoenlein-Henoch
