Diagnosis and Treatment of Brain Echinococcosis

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical manefesnation,diagnosis and treatment of brain echinococcosis.Method The details of a rare case of brain echinococcosis was reported.We also retrospectively studied a series of 19 patients treated from 1990 to 2008.Results Total excision was performed in all the patients.There was no recurrence during short follow-up period.Conclusions Having multiple forms in clinical and image manefestination,preoperation diagnosis for brain echinococcosis helps to establish treatment methods including surgical strategy.Total surgical removal could heal the disease,following good prognosis.
