Abstract:The current criteria for the diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the presence of forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV 1)/forced vital capacity (FVC) <70% in a post-bronchodilator that confirms continuous airflow limitation. But this diagnostic criteria for the elderly may cause over-diagnosis,and during the operation even can appear cough, chest tightness, syncope, dyspnea and other complications. So in recent years, other indicators of lung function tests related to the results show that the FEV1/forced expiratory volume in six second(FEV 6),the forced expiratory volume in three second (FEV3)/FVC have played an important role in the screening and diagnosis of airflow limitation, and recommends FEV1/FEV6,FEV3/FVC as a common indicator of screening for COPD.
