Abstract:Objective To investigate the analgesic effect of diclofenac sodium suppository after sevoflurane-remifentanil anesthesia in children. Methods Forty ASAⅠI orⅡchildren aged 2-10 yr undergoing elective amygdalectomy and/or adenoidectomy were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=20 each):group I control (C) and group Ⅱ diclofenac sodium suppository (D). Anesthesia was induced with sevoflurane, midazolam, propofol and remifentanil. Tracheal intubation was facilitated with rocuronium. Anesthesia was maintained with 1%-3% sevoflurane, intravenous remifentanil infusion (0.05-0.1 μg·kg-1·min-1) and intravenous rocurouium infusion (5-10 μg·kg-1. min-1). After tracheal intubation, diclofenac sodium suppository 1 mg/kg was placed in rectum 2 em from anus in group D. The depth of sedation and degree of emergence agitation were assessed using Ramsay sedation score (1=fully awake,6=asleep) and emergence agitation score (0 = quiet, cooperative, 3=severe agitated) respectively. Results The patients were better sedated and the degree of emergence agitation was significantly lower in group D than in group C. Conclusion Dielofenac sodium suppository 1 mg/kg has significant analgesic and sedative effects in children after sevoflurane-remifentanil anesthesia.
