Abstract:Ischemic stroke (IS) is a kind of cerebrovascular disease characterized by ischemic necrosis or encephalomalacia of localized brain tissue, which is caused by the stenosis or occlusion of cerebral blood supply arteries. It is the second cause of death in the world. IS has the characteristics of high morbidity, high disability rate, high mortality rate, high recurrence rate, and high economic burden. [ 1 ] The Chinese population has a high incidence of stroke, about 80% of which is IS. The one-year mortality rate of IS patients treated in Chinese hospitals is 14.4% to 15.4%, and the mortality/disability rate is about 33.4% to 33.8%. [ 2 ] At the same time, according to the American Heart Association's Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Report in 2017, data from a national cohort study of 18,462 participants showed that the prevalence of stroke-related symptoms was found to be at least 1 stroke-related symptom in 17.8% of the population aged >45 years, and the prediction showed that the incidence of stroke-related symptoms was rising. About 87% of stroke patients in the United States have IS. [ 3 ] At present, the treatment of IS is mainly through drug thrombolysis or mechanical thrombectomy to improve cerebral blood circulation, restore the blood flow state of blocked blood vessels as soon as possible, ensure the stability of cerebral blood flow, and reduce nervous system injury. At the same time, reducing the incidence of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and other high-risk factors in the population can also indirectly reduce the incidence or recurrence rate of IS.
