Progress in the Pathogenesis and Prognosis of Myelodysplastic Syndromes

Abstract:Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a heterogeneous collection of clonal hematopoietic malignancies and the most common acquired adult bone marrow failure syndromes.They are characterized by ineffective hematopoiesis and predisposition to acute myeloid leukemia.This article describes the molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis and prognosis of MDS reported in the 60th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting,as well as recent advances in the improvement of the existing prognostic scoring systems of MDS.
