Investigation and analysis of psychological status and quality of life of operable breast cancer patients at different stages

Abstract:OBJECTIVE The mental health and quality of life (QOL) of breast cancer patients will be change from diagnosis,treatment and recover.The objective of this study was to analyze operable breast cancer patients mental health and QOL.METHODS From January 1,2013 to December 31,2014,101 operable breast cancer patients in Xinyu City People's Hospital were selected in the experimental and completed questionnaires in preoperative,postoperative chemora diotherapy and recovery phases respectively.Totally 101 cases of healthy female volunteers were collected from the com munity as a healthy control group,whose age and level of education match the experimental group.The general question naire (including basic information,disease conditions and other projects),Essen Trauma Inventory,happiness index scale (Index of Well-being),breast cancer Quality of Life (FACT-B),Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAD,Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were applied to evaluate the general situation,mental status and quality of life of the resbondent,so as to compare and analyze the mental status between the experimental group and the control group and analyze the impact of which on the QOL.SPSS 18.0 software was used for statistical analysis.RESULTS The scores of the experiment group's anxiety and depression was:Pre-operation period 4.5± 3.3,Post-operation radiotherapy and chemotherapy period 4.9 ± 3.8,Rehabilitation period 4.1 ± 3.0.The number was much higher than the control group 2.7 ± 3.2 (P =0.007);The scores of the experiment group's depression:Pre-operation period 2.9 ±3.4,Post-operation radiotherapy and chemotherapy period (and 4.2±3.8),Rehabilitation period 2.5±2.9.The number was much higher than the control group 2.0±2.6 (P=0.005);The scores of the experiment group's well-being index was:Pre-operation period 10.6± 2.3,Post-operation radiotherapy and chemotherapy period 10.4± 2.6,Rehabilitation period 11.2± 2.3.This was lower than the score of the control group 12.2±2.8 (P=0.006);The scores of the experiment group's Quality of life was:Pre-operation period 110.7 ± 15.1,Post-operation radiotherapy and chemotherapy period 95.3 ± 18.1,Rehabilitation period 108.4±16.7,Highest score was observed in pre-operation period (P 0.007).CONCLUSIONS Compared with healthy women,breast cancer patients suffer high levels of anxiety,depression,and have lower well-being index.Postoperation radiotherapy and chemotherapy period of Breast cancer patients with higher anxiety and depression suffer low levels of well-being index,and lower quality of life.
