Abstract:The Moore-Penrose inverse is a genuine extension of the matrix inverse. Given a complex matrix, there uniquely exists another complex matrix satisfying the four Moore-Penrose conditions, and if the original matrix is nonsingular, it is exactly the inverse of that matrix. In the last one and half decade, in the study of approximate synthesis in kinematic, two generalizations of the Moore-Penrose inverse appeared for dual real matrices,including Moore-Penrose dual generalized inverse and dual Moore-Penrose generalized inverse (DMPGI). DMPGI satisfies the four Moore-Penrose conditions, but does not exist for uncountably many dual real matrices. %Another generalization, called Moore-Penrose dual generalized inverse (MPDGI), is different from DMPGI even if DMPGI exists. In this paper, based upon the singular value decomposition of dual matrices, we extend the first Moore-Penrose condition to dual matrices and introduce a genuine extension of the Moore-Penrose inverse to dual matrices, referred to as GMPI. Given a dual complex matrix, its GMPI is the unique dual complex matrix which satisfy the first extended and the other three Moore-Penrose conditions. If the original matrix is a complex matrix, its GMPI is exactly the Moore-Penrose inverse of that matrix. And if the original matrix is a dual real matrix and its DMPGI exists, its GMPI coincides with its DMPGI.

Abstract:The aim of this work is to characterize linear maps of infinite-dimensional inner product spaces where the Moore-Penrose inverse exists. This MP inverse generalizes the well-known Moore-Penrose inverse of a matrix $A\in \text{Mat}_{n\times m} ({\mathbb C})$. Moreover, a method for the computation of the MP inverse of some endomorphisms on infinite-dimensional vector spaces is given. As an application, the least norm solution of an infinite linear system from the Moore-Penrose inverse offered is studied.

Abstract:It is well known that the normwise relative condition numbers measure the sensitivity of matrix inversion and the solution of nonsingular linear systems. Here, we consider the condition number formulas for the weighted Moore–Penrose inverse of a rectangular matrix and give explicit expressions for the weighted condition numbers of the singular linear systems Ax=b. These explicit expressions extend the earlier work of several authors. As we know, the computed weighted least squares solution x of minx∥Ax−b∥M, in the presence of the round-off error, satisfies the perturbed equation miny∥(A+E)y−(b+f)∥M. Finally, an upper bound of ∥y−x∥N is derived for the case where the weighted matrix and vector norms and the assumption rank(A+E)=rank(A) are used.

Abstract:Weighted singular value decomposition (WSVD) and a representation of the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse of a quaternion matrix by WSVD have been derived. Using this representation, limit and determinantal representations of the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse of a quaternion matrix have been obtained within the framework of the theory of the noncommutative column-row determinants. By using the obtained analogs of the adjoint matrix, we get the Cramer rules for the weighted Moore-Penrose solutions of left and right systems of quaternion linear equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we present explicit expressions for the Moore-Penrose inverse of the perturbation matrix under the rank condition in the real field. Then we estimate the error between Moore-Penrose inverse and dual Moore-Penrose generalized inverse (DMPGI) and obtain an upper bound of the error. Abstract:This paper is concerned with constructions and characterizations of matrix equalities that involve mixed products of Moore–Penrose inverses and group inverses of two matrices. We first construct a mixed reverse-order law ( A ⁢ B ) † = B ∗ ⁢ ( A ∗ ⁢ A ⁢ B ⁢ B ∗ ) # ⁢ A ∗ , and show that this matrix equality always holds through the use of a special matrix rank equality and some matrix range operations, where A and B are two matrices of appropriate sizes, ( ⋅ ) ∗ , ( ⋅ ) † and ( ⋅ ) # mean the conjugate transpose, the Moore–Penrose inverse, and the group inverse of a matrix, respectively. We then give a diverse range of variation forms of this equality, and derive necessary and sufficient conditions for them to hold. Especially, we show an interesting fact that the two reverse-order laws ( A ⁢ B ) † = B † ⁢ A † and ( A ∗ ⁢ A ⁢ B ⁢ B ∗ ) # = ( B ⁢ B ∗ ) # ⁢ ( A ∗ ⁢ A ) # are equivalent.

Characterization and Representation of Weighted Core Inverse of Matrices

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce new representation and characterization of the weighted core inverse of matrices. Several properties of these inverses and their interconnections with other generalized inverses are also explored. Through one-sided core and dual-core inverses, we have shown the existence of a generalized weighted Moore-Penrose inverse of matrices. Further, by applying a new representation and using the properties of the weighted core inverse of a matrix, we discuss some new results related to the reverse order law for these inverses.

Abstract:This article first introduces the notion of weighted singular value decomposition (WSVD) of a tensor via the Einstein product. The WSVD is then used to compute the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse of an arbitrary-order tensor. We then define the notions of weighted normal tensor for an even-order square tensor and weighted tensor norm. Finally, we apply these to study the theory of numerical range for the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse of an even-order square tensor and exploit its several properties. We also obtain a few new results in matrix setting.

Abstract:We treat even-order tensors with Einstein product as linear operators from tensor space to tensor space, define the null spaces and the ranges of tensors, and study their relationship. We extend the fundamental theorem of linear algebra for matrix spaces to tensor spaces. Using the new relationship, we characterize the least-squares (M) solutions to a multilinear system and establish the relationship between the minimum-norm (N) leastsquares (M) solution of a multilinear system and the weighted Moore-Penrose inverse of its coefficient tensor. We also investigate a class of even-order tensors induced by matrices and obtain some interesting properties.

Abstract:Various extensions of DMP-inverses have been proposed recently. Expressions involving G-Drazin inverses and the Moore–Penrose are known as GDMP-inverses. To generalize the definition of the GDMP inverse for square matrices, we firstly present and study the strong weighted G-Drazin inverse for bounded linear operators between two Hilbert spaces. We introduce the strong weighted GDMP inverse and its dual for operators by employing the strong weighted G-Drazin inverse and the Moore-Penrose inverse. Different properties, characterizations and representations for two new inverses are proved. Applying the strong weighted GDMP inverse, we define the strong weighted GDMP partial order.

A new interpretation of the weighted pseudoinverse and its applications

Abstract:Consider the generalized linear least squares (GLS) problem $\min\|Lx\|_2 \ \mathrm{s.t.} \ \|M(Ax-b)\|_2=\min$. The weighted pseudoinverse $A_{ML}^†$ is the matrix that maps $b$ to the minimum 2-norm solution of this GLS problem. By introducing a linear operator induced by $\{A, M, L\}$ between two finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces, we show that the minimum 2-norm solution of the GLS problem is equivalent to the minimum norm solution of a linear least squares problem involving this linear operator, and $A_{ML}^†$ can be expressed as the composition of the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse of this linear operator and an orthogonal projector. With this new interpretation, we establish the generalized Moore-Penrose equations that completely characterize the weighted pseudoinverse, give a closed-form expression of the weighted pseudoinverse using the generalized singular value decomposition (GSVD), and propose a generalized LSQR (gLSQR) algorithm for iteratively solving the GLS problem. We construct several numerical examples to test the proposed iterative algorithm for solving GLS problems. Our results highlight the close connections between GLS, weighted pseudoinverse, GSVD and gLSQR, providing new tools for both analysis and computations.

Abstract:Three recurrent neural networks are presented for computing the weighted Moore–Penrose inverse of rank-deficient matrices. The first recurrent neural network has the dynamical equation similar to the one proposed earlier for matrix inversion and is capable of weighted Moore–Penrose inverse under the condition of zero initial states. The second recurrent neural network consists of an array of neurons corresponding to a weighted Moore–Penrose inverse matrix with decaying self-connections and constant connections in each row or column. The third recurrent neural network consists of two layers of neuron arrays corresponding, respectively, to a weighted Moore–Penrose inverse and a Lagrangian matrix with constant connections.
