Preliminary Evaluation on Public Earthquake Refuge Consciousness in High-Building Intensive Areas: A Case Study on Xinjiekou of Nanjing

Abstract:With the acceleration of urbanization process in China, the urban space becomes higher and more focused gradually, resulting in the emerging of intensive areas with high-buildings in many super cities. However, some earthquake had happened in china recently, the difficult of refuge in such space has become increasingly prominent. In this paper, we take Xinjiekou of Nanjing for example, and investigate the public earthquake refuge consciousness through a large sum of questionnaires and interviews. This paper sums up the current characteristics of the public earthquake refuge consciousness in this area, and analyzes the correlations between the refuge consciousness with personal attributes, spatial attributes and time attributes. This paper aims to provide some basis for seeking methods to improve the public earthquake refuge consciousness in high-building intensive areas.
