Abstract:Taking limestone soil and yellow soil as examples, the concentrations of total sulfur(S) organic S, SO42--S and total reduced inorganic S (TRS) in soils of karst areas of Southwestern China were measured. Generally, organic S was the dominant S form at all depths in all profiles, constituting 72.1%-92.9% of total S. TRS was generally the dominant inorganic S form, accounting for 3.6%-17.4% of total S. The vertical profiles of total S. organic S, SO42--S and TRS had obvious differences in limestone soil and yellow soil. Also, SO42--S and TRS also had different depth distributions in black limestone soil and yellow limestone soil. Under the same level of acid deposition, these results indicated that there were obvious differences in biogeochemical behavior of S in different soils, which are in turn mainly related to soil properties and vegetation coverage characteristics.
