Abstract:The invention discloses a device for 360-degree full-parallax three dimensional display based on a high-speed projector. The device comprises a high-speed projector, a screen, a position tracing unit, an image generator, and a pair of active shutter 3D glasses, wherein the high-speed projector is used for projecting images and output a synchronous signal corresponding to each frame of image at the same time; the screen is used for diffuse reflection of images projected by the high-speed projector and display of required imaged for each viewer; the position tracing unit is used for obtaining position information of each viewer; the image generator is used for sending images to the high-speed projector according to 3D scene information and position information of each viewer displayed as needed; and the active shutter 3D glasses worn by each viewer controls the light-through state of each lens according to a matched synchronous signal, thereby enabling each viewer to watch stereo images on the screen. The invention also discloses a method for 360-degree full-parallax three dimensional display based on the high-speed projector. A 360-degree full-parallax specific display image can be provided to multiple persons at the same time, a three-dimensional display effect is achieved, and displayed information is large and high-resolution.

Abstract:A 360° three-dimensional (3D) display is one of the most attractive displays for full parallax in horizontal direction. In this paper, we proposed two 360° crosstalk-free 3D autostereoscopic display methods based on pyramidal mirrors-based 3D light field multiplexing and diaphragms. Display performances of proposed displays were analyzed. We fabricated two 360° display prototypes based on the n-gonal pyramidal mirrors assemblage and flat 3D displays. Moreover, we evaluated our proposed methods by simulations and experiments. Experimental results as well as simulation results were consistent with theoretical analysis based on the geometric optics. Furthermore, the proposed schemes and theories may provide a guideline for light field multiplexing and wide viewing angle augmented reality.

Abstract:We utilized a high-frame-rate projector, a rotating mirror, and a cylindrical selective-diffusing screen to present a novel three-dimensional (3D) omnidirectional-view display system without the need for any special viewing aids. The display principle and image size are analyzed, and the common display zone is proposed. The viewing zone for one observation place is also studied. Three-dimensional Display with a Multi-Directional Backlight

Abstract:To realize three-dimensional(3D) images with low crosstalk, full resolution, and multi-view, a 3D display based on a multi-directional backlight is proposed. An eye-tracker in the system is used to acquire the position of human eyes and feedback to multi-directional backlight and the liquid crystal display (LCD) panel. Directional parallax images are time-sequentially provided to each eye by simultaneously working of multi-directional backlight and LCD screen. Viewers can achieve 3D perception based on the persistence of vision. Multi-directional backlight is mainly realized by a series of cylindrical waves and a holographic optical element (HOE). Different cylindrical waves produce diffracted beams in different directions through HOE. Double-LED type and diffuser type are proposed to improve the uniformity of the proposed system. Experimental results indicate that this system can provide full resolution 3D images in 25 viewing zones, and the uniformity is improved to 80% average crosstalk is as low as 2.75% , which satisfy the demands for crosstalk, resolution, uniformity in the 3D display system, and the visual experience of viewers is greatly improved.

Abstract:A three-dimensional (3D) color display with 360 degrees omnidirectional views is developed by use of a high frame rate digital micromirror device projector and three-color light-emitting diodes as the light source. The high-speed projector can project a series of color images on a rotating anisotropic diffusing mirror that controls the reflective light in a designed angular region. Observers around the display scene can watch autostereoscopic views from the ominidirectional 360 deg view around the 3D display. The vivid 3D scene can be obtained with perfect color effect and correct parallax, projection effect, and occlusion. The principle of the omnidirectional view 3D color display is analyzed in detail and experimental results of a 3D color object are presented.

Abstract:In this paper. a method is proposed to implement noises reduced three-dimensional (3D) holographic near-eye display by phase-only computer-generated hologram (CGH). The CGH is calculated from a double-convergence light Gerchberg-Saxton (GS) algorithm, in which the phases of two virtual convergence lights are introduced into GS algorithm simultaneously. The first phase of convergence light is a replacement of random phase as the iterative initial value and the second phase of convergence light will modulate the phase distribution calculated by GS algorithm. Both simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the feasibility of the proposed method. The results indicate that this method can effectively reduce the noises in the reconstruction. Field of view (FOV) of the reconstructed image reaches 40 degrees and experimental light path in the 4-f system is shortened. As for 3D experiments, the results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can present 3D images with 180cm zooming range and continuous depth cues. Abstract:Holographic display has attracted considerable attention for its high-contrast, low power consumption, wide color gamut and potentials for three-dimensional (3D) display. Although computer-generated hologram (CGH) has the potential for reconstructing all the 3D information of an object, complicated 3D modeling and time-consuming computation are big challenges faced by current 3D holographic display. A simple yet effective method to realize holographic 3D display by shifted Fraunhofer diffraction has been presented in this paper. After a 3D object is divided into a set of layers in axial direction, these layers are calculated into corresponding sub-holograms by Fraunhofer diffraction. The hologram uploaded on SLM consists of sub-holograms in a tiling approach. Both simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the feasibility of shifted Fraunhofer diffraction. Detailed analysis of computational cost has also been carried out, and the comparison between shifted Fresnel diffraction and shifted Fraunhofer diffraction in the proposed method has been analyzed. The Analysis results shows that the process of 3D modeling is simple, that is the computational complexity is accordingly reduced compared with shifted Fraunhofer diffraction. The experimental results demonstrate that our method can reconstruct multi-plane 3D object with continuous depth map. It is expected that the proposed method may provide a better solution in future holographic 3D display research.

Abstract:A novel full-parallax 3D display approach and image generating algorithm are demonstrated. The display system employs a panel display monitor, an array of mini-projectors, a rear projecting light beam and a special orthogonal diffuser. Image generation program is operated based on OpenGL programming. In order to validate the proposed theory based on spliced view-field, a compact prototype-equipment with LCD, Fresnel lens, directional diffuser and rear projecting structure is proposed. The 3D images and dynamic videos displayed by the system can be observed at different horizontal and vertical viewpoints, with more compact size and better use experience.
A novel full-parallax three dimensional display

Abstract:A full-parallax three dimensional display was proposed in this paper. It can display 3D images with 45 views, including 9 horizontal views by 5 vertical views. The angle pitches between two horizontal views and two vertical views are both 4.77 degree. The resolution and the size of the 3D images displayed are 226*226pixels and 30*30 cm2. The display system contains a LCD display, a lens array, and a directional diffuser. The resolution and the size of the LCD display are 1920*1080pixels and 23 inches. The lens array consists of 45 Fresnel lens. The horizontal and vertical diffuse angles of the directional diffuser are both 4.77 degree.

Abstract:The crosstalk evaluation of multiview autostereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) displays is discussed, with both the human and technical factors investigated via image quality assessment. In the imaging performance measurements and analysis for a multiview autostereoscopic display prototype equipment, it was inferred that crosstalk would have both a positive and a negative effect on the imaging performance of the equipment. The importance of the attached diaphragm in the crosstalk evaluation was proposed and then experimentally verified, using the developed prototype equipment. The luminance distribution and crosstalk situation were given, with two different diaphragm arrays applied. The analysis results showed that the imaging performance of this 3D display system can be improved with minimum changes to the system structure.

Abstract:This paper proposes a 360-deg large-scale multiprojection light-field 3D display system, which can reconstruct the light field of models in real space. The reconstructed contents can be observed by multiple viewers from different angles and positions simultaneously. In this system, 360 projectors project images onto a cylindrical light-field diffusion screen whose height is 1.8 m and diameter is 3 m. When moving around the system, viewers can see 3D scenes with smooth-motion parallax, and the frame rate can reach 30 fps and above. To achieve a large-scale display, we design a wide-field lens with cylindrical lenses to enlarge the projection image. To promote efficiency of data transmission and render 3D contents in real time, we apply computers equipped with multiple graphic cards, and display data are divided by field programmable gate array. Finally, a 360-deg light-field autocalibration method based on CCD and multiview sampling is proposed, whose calibration effect is strongly confirmed by experiment results. Abstract:A full-parallax three-dimensional (3D) display using a new directional diffuser is demonstrated. The display could present 3D images with 45 views comprising 9 horizontal views by 5 vertical views. The resolution and size of the 3D images displayed are 226?226 pixels and 300?300 (mm). The new directional diffuser consisting of two perpendicular lenticular sheets can be widely used in the display domain owing to its low cost and simple process.

Abstract:In order to generate a true 3D image providing viewers true depth cues, such as binocular parallax, accommodation and convergence, motion parallax, etc, a volumetric three-dimension display system has been developed based on the time sequential display of a rotational two dimension LED array which is controlled by a high speed microchips sequentially. The 3D data source is obtained from 3DS files, and mapped to the 2D LED panel by space encoding. Due to the visual persistence, observers could see full three-dimensional images without the need for special viewing glasses. The system can provide above 200,000 voxels (volume pixels) in a cylinder display space with a diameter of 305.6 mm and a height of 76 mm. The principle of the system and the display performance have been investigated by relating the display panel pixel arrangement and the reconstructed three-dimensional image. The display results of real animate three-dimensional images are presented and proved that the volumetric display system has the wide-ranging application prospect.

Abstract:The traditional flat-panel display technology cannot satisfy the display effect of 360 degrees viewing angle and high resolution. A 360 degrees floating display system based on human eye tracking is proposed. The multi-camera eye tracking algorithm is used to obtain the observer viewpoint position in real time, and the corresponding view angle picture is generated by OpenGL. In order to realize 360 degrees display, a catadioptric cylindrical projection optical system is designed. In order to make full use of the limited resolution of the projector, a half-circle display scheme is proposed. In order to display the correct image, a predistortion correction method based on Bezier surface and a polar coordinate system conversion method are proposed, and the 360 degrees horizontal viewing angle and vertical viewing angle with a certain range of the system are finally realized. The experimental results show that the proposed system can achieve static or dynamic floating display effects with high resolution and low cost.

Abstract:Three-dimensional (3D) display technology, which aims at presenting almost-realistic 3D images to the observer without any auxiliary devices, has drawn great attention from both academia and industry these years. The 3D display based on multi-layer translucent structure is a new parallax-based 3D display model. Compared with conventional parallax barrier and integrated imaging, it can effectively ensure the utilization of light energy and image resolution of the system, expand the screen depth at the same time, and display a realistic virtual 3D scene. In this paper, we implement a flat 3D display using multi-layer translucencies. Based on our prototype of flat 3D display, we further extend it to spatial 3D display using mirroring of a square pyramid, which allows observers to see virtual 3D objects from different directions in the air.
