Abstract:Introduction Gene therapy consists of several techniques that allow us to introduce entire plasmids nucleic acids as well as small fragments of RNA in cells in order to provide a treatment for a wide variety of diseases and disorders. However; nuclease sensitivity of nucleic acids limits their biomedical applications. To bypass problems such as these and gene degradation, a vector is needed. We hypothesize that an injectable system made by collagen hollow spheres (CHS) can protect the nucleic acids and allow a sustained and controlled release. To achieve this aim a dendritic DMAEMA/EGDMA copolymer (pD-E) can be used as a highly efficient transfection agent, which can be loaded into the CHS.
