Abstract:With the aim of performing laser spectroscopy studies on exotic silicon isotopes, we propose to study the feasibility of producing such radioactive isotopes at ISOLDE. The properties of light open-shell nuclei such as silicon isotopes are currently accessible by ab-initio calculations and are of great relevance for the current developments in many-body methods and inter-nucleon interactions. The in-source two-photon excitation method will be investigated as a new mean for ion beam production and to perform high-resolution laser spectroscopy studies. Requested shifts: 8 shifts of radioactive beams and 9 shifts of stable beams.
