We present the conditions that make the perturbation of A T,S is stable. The explicit representation for the perturbation of A T,S and the perturbation bounds are also obtained.

Abstract:A perturbation theory for the generalized inverse A(2) T,S is developed. The theory is based on a useful decomposition of B(2)T,S-A(2)T,S under(W) condition. Norm est imate of ‖B(2)T,S-A(2)T,S‖ are derived for every mult ipli cative norm when (W) condition is satisfied and ‖B-A‖ is small. U nder sim iliar conditions the perturbation bound for the unique solution of the general r estricted system Ax=b(x∈T, b∈AT and dim(T)=dim(AT)) is studied.

We derive its perturbation bounds when the subspaces T and S also have perturbation. And in special case, when T and S have no perturbation, we get some results on the condition numbers with respect to A(T,S)((2)) and constrained linear system Ax=b, x is an element of T which are similar to the regular inverse A(-1) and nonsingular linear system Ax=b. Abstract:In this note, we present perturbation analysis for the T-product based tensor singular values defined by Lu et al. First, the Cauchy's interlacing-type theorem for tensor singular values is given. Then, the inequalities about the difference between the singular values of two matrices proposed by Mirsky are extended to tensor cases. Finally, we introduce some useful inequalities for the singular values of tensor products and sums.

Abstract:This paper studies stability of essential spectra of self-adjoint subspaces (i.e., self-adjoint linear relations) under finite rank and compact perturbations in Hilbert spaces. Relationships between compact perturbation of closed subspaces and relatively compact perturbation of their operator parts are first established. This gives a characterization of compact perturbation in terms of difference between the operator parts of perturbed and unperturbed subspaces. It is shown that a self-adjoint subspace is still self-adjoint under either relatively bounded perturbation with relative bound less than one or relatively compact perturbation or compact perturbation with a certain additional condition. By using these results, invariance of essential spectra of self-adjoint subspaces is proved under relatively compact and compact perturbations, separately. As a special case, finite rank perturbation is discussed. The results obtained in this paper generalize the corresponding results for self-adjoint operators to self-adjoint subspaces.

Abstract:Let H and K be Hilbert spaces and let T, (T) over tilde = T + delta T be bounded operators from H into K. In this article, two facts related to the perturbation bounds are studied. The first one is to find the upper bound of parallel to(T) over tilde (+) - T+parallel to, which extends the results obtained by the second author and enriches the perturbation theory for the Moore-Penrose inverse. The other one is to develop explicit representations of projectors parallel to(T) over tilde(T) over tilde (+) - TT+parallel to and parallel to(T) over tilde (+)(T) over tilde - T+T parallel to . In addition, some spectral cases related to these results are analyzed.

Abstract:Using the error bound results established in the present paper for approximate solutions, we study the stability issues when perturbed by possibly nonaffine smooth maps E for the abstract inequality system F >=(K) 0 defined by a (possible nonclosed) convex cone K and a Frechet differentiable function F satisfying the (extended) weak gamma-condition. We provide some sufficient conditions, in terms of the information at a solution x(0), for ensuring the lower semicontinuity and/or the Lipschitz-like continuity at x(0) of the solution mapping for the perturbed system F + E >=(K) 0 with smooth perturbation E. Explicit upper bounds of the Lipschitz-like moduli are also provided.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, Volume 45, Issue 1, Page 553-584, March 2024. It is a classical task in perturbation analysis to find norm bounds on the effect of a perturbation [math] of a stochastic matrix [math] to its stationary distribution, i.e., to the unique normalized left Perron eigenvector. A common assumption is to consider [math] to be given and to find bounds on its impact, but in this paper, we rather focus on an inverse optimization problem called the target stationary distribution problem (TSDP). The starting point is a target stationary distribution, and we search for a perturbation [math] of the minimum norm such that [math] remains stochastic and has the desired target stationary distribution. It is shown that TSDP has relevant applications in the design of, for example, road networks, social networks, hyperlink networks, and queuing systems. The key to our approach is that we work with rank-1 perturbations. Building on those results for rank-1 perturbations, we provide heuristics for the TSDP that construct arbitrary rank perturbations as sums of appropriately constructed rank-1 perturbations.

Abstract:Perturbation analysis has emerged as a significant concern across multiple disciplines, with notable advancements being achieved, particularly in the realm of matrices. This study centers on specific aspects pertaining to tensor T-eigenvalues within the context of the tensor-tensor multiplication. Initially, an analytical perturbation analysis is introduced to explore the sensitivity of T-eigenvalues. In the case of third-order tensors featuring square frontal slices, we extend the classical Gershgorin disc theorem and show that all T-eigenvalues are located inside a union of Gershgorin discs. Additionally, we extend the Bauer-Fike theorem to encompass F-diagonalizable tensors and present two modified versions applicable to more general scenarios. The tensor case of the Kahan theorem, which accounts for general perturbations on Hermite tensors, is also investigated. Furthermore, we propose the concept of pseudospectra for third-order tensors based on tensor-tensor multiplication. We develop four definitions that are equivalent under the spectral norm to characterize tensor $\varepsilon$-pseudospectra. Additionally, we present several pseudospectral properties. To provide visualizations, several numerical examples are also provided to illustrate the $\varepsilon$-pseudospectra of specific tensors at different levels.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the stability conditions of discrete interval type-2 (DIT2) fuzzy control systems. To investigate the system stability, an interval type-2 Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is proposed to represent the nonlinear systems subject to system uncertainty. With the bounds of the uncertainty, the uncertainty can be represented by the lower and upper membership functions. Based on the basic stable conditions of the DIT2 fuzzy control systems and the information provided by the lower and upper membership functions, a relaxed approach is derived to design the DIT2 fuzzy controller, which can effectively stabilize the nonlinear systems subject to system uncertainty. Finally, a simulation example is used to detail the design of DIT2 T-S fuzzy control system and to show the performance of the DIT2 T-S fuzzy controller on handling the system uncertainty.

Abstract:In this paper, the perturbation and subproper splittings for the generalized inverse AT,S(2), the unique matrix X such that XAX=X,R(X)=T and N(X)=S, are considered. We present lower and upper bounds for the perturbation of AT,S(2). Convergence of subproper splittings for computing the special solution AT,S(2)b of restricted rectangular linear system Ax=b, x∈T, are studied. For the solution AT,S(2)b we develop a characterization. Therefore, we give a unified treatment of the related problems considered in literature by Ben-Israel, Berman, Hanke, Neumann, Plemmons, etc.

Abstract:Let A be a bounded linear operator in a complex separable Hilbert space H, and S be a selfadjoint operator in H. Assuming that A − S belongs to the Schattenvon Neumann ideal , we derive a bound for , where λ k ( A ) ( k = 1, 2, ...) are the eigenvalues of A . Our results are formulated in terms of the "extended" eigenvalue sets in the sense introduced by T. Kato. In addition, in the case p = 2 we refine the Weyl inequality between the real parts of the eigenvalues of A and the eigenvalues of its Hermitian component.

Abstract:This paper establishes a variant of Stewart's theorem (Theorem~6.4 of Stewart, {\em SIAM Rev.}, 15:727--764, 1973) for the singular subspaces associated with the SVD of a matrix subject to perturbations. Stewart's original version uses both the Frobenius and spectral norms, whereas the new variant uses the spectral norm and any unitarily invariant norm that offer choices per convenience of particular applications and lead to sharper bounds than that straightforwardly derived from Stewart's original theorem with the help of the well-known equivalence inequalities between matrix norms. Of interest in their own right, bounds on the solution to two couple Sylvester equations are established for a few different circumstances.

Abstract:Subspace decomposition has been exploited in different applications. Due to perturbations from various sources such as finite data samples and measurement noise, perturbations arise in subspaces. Therefore, some loss is introduced to performance of subspace-based algorithms. Although first-order perturbation results have been proposed in the literature and applied to various problems, up to second-order perturbation analysis can provide more accurate analytical results and is studied in this paper. Based on the orthogonality principle, perturbations of subspaces and singular values (or eigenvalues) are derived explicitly as functions of a perturbation in the objective matrix up to the second order, respectively, all in closed forms. It is shown that by keeping only the first-order terms, the derived results reduce to those from existing approaches. Examples to apply the proposed results to both matrix computation and subspace-based channel estimation are provided to verify our analysis.
Spectral inclusions of perturbed normal operators and applications

Abstract:We consider a normal operator $T$ on a Hilbert space $H$. Under various assumptions on the spectrum of $T$, we give bounds for the spectrum of $T+A$ where $A$ is $T$-bounded with relative bound less than 1 but we do not assume that $A$ is symmetric or normal. If the imaginary part of the spectrum of $T$ is bounded, then the spectrum of $T+A$ is contained in the region between certain hyperbolas whose asymptotic slope depends on the $T$-bound of $A$. If the spectrum of $T$ is contained in a bisector, then the spectrum of $T+A$ is contained in the area between certain rotated hyperbola. The case of infinite gaps in the spectrum of $T$ is studied. Moreover, we prove a stability result for the essential spectrum of $T+A$. If $A$ is even $p$-subordinate to $T$, then we obtain stronger results for the localisation of the spectrum of $T+A$.
