Abstract:Improving Web interaction on mobile small-screen terminals, such as PDAs and cellular phones, is of great importance for enhancing the benefits of both mobile handhelds and World Wide Web. Analyzing related work in this area, we present four heuristic principles of Web interaction in mobile environment. To implement such principles, HTML content restructuring and thumbnailing techniques are combined in our browser prototype IEH in which arbitrary Web pages are categorized and then processed and rendered in various ways correspondingly. We discuss our architecture, interaction facilities, and user studies. Improvement of browsing speed is measured through the experiments.
