Abstract:An encryption method based on interleaved computer-generated holograms (CGHs) displayed by a spatial light modulator (SLM) is demonstrated. Arbitrary decrypted complex optical wave fields are reconstructed in the rear focal plane of two phase-only holograms, generated from original image using a vector decomposition algorithm. Two CGHs are encoded into one hologram by interleaving the column of pixels, which optically combines the optical wave fields of two neighboring phase-only modulated pixels. The designed image encryption system may avoid the inherent silhouette problem and alleviate the precise alignment requirements of interference encryption. Video encryption and real-time dynamic decryption is demonstrated using one SLM.

Abstract:Interference-based optical image encryption has triggered much current attention due to its marked advantages, such as non-iterative operation. However, the precise alignment requirements of the phase-only masks in two different planes restrict the experimental verification. Few experimental results have been reported about the optical interference encryption. In this paper, we propose a holographic lensless interference encryption method based on single spatial light modulator. The alignment requirements are avoided by uploading the two phase-only masks into one single spatial light modulator simultaneously. The pixel vector decomposition algorithm is applied to decompose the Fresnel computer-generated hologram (CGH) into two phase-only CGHs for higher security. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the decryption process.

Abstract:Image encryption algorithms based on chaos theory have rapidly developed in recent years, with many achieving encryption by confusion-diffusion structures. However, the security performance of these algorithms needs to be improved. This paper proposes a holographic encryption algorithm based on the new integrated chaotic system and chaotic mask. The improved Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm transforms plaintext images into pure-phase holograms. The chaotic masks generated by the new integrated chaotic system decompose holograms into sub-images. The sub-images are pixel-wise heterogeneous operations and are finally merged into the complete encrypted image. Compared with one-dimensional chaotic mapping, the generation of NICS is related to kinoform, which enhances the system's key sensitivity. The chaotic mask chunking method can generate random chunk locations and sizes, effectively preventing attacks against specific chunking rules. The performance analysis shows that the algorithm has a higher key space and security to resist stronger robustness attacks.

Abstract:A new information encryption system is presented, based on phase-shifting interferometry and virtual optics. Three-step phase-shifting interferometry is used to record a digital hologram of the input data and a virtual optical system based on the scaled optical fractional Fourier transform is used for encryption of the recorded digital hologram. In the virtual optical system, the digital hologram to be encrypted is fractional Fourier transformed two times, and a random phase mask is placed at the output plane of the first fractional Fourier transform. Both the encryption and decryption processes are performed digitally. The encrypted data and the keys for decryption can be stored and transmitted in a conventional communication channel. Numerical simulations are presented to verify validity and efficiency.

Abstract:An optical encryption and display method for a three-dimensional (3D) scene is proposed based on computer-generated holograms (CGHs) using a single phase-only spatial light modulator. The 3D scene is encoded as one complex Fourier CGH. The Fourier CGH is then decomposed into two phase-only CGHs with random distributions by the vector stochastic decomposition algorithm. Two CGHs are interleaved as one final phase-only CGH for optical encryption and reconstruction. The proposed method can support high-level nonlinear optical 3D scene security and complex amplitude modulation of the optical field. The exclusive phase key offers strong resistances of decryption attacks. Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the novel method.

Abstract:In recent years, encryption algorithms have undergone rapid development, finding extensive applications across diverse industries. In the pursuit of enhancing the security of image encryption methodologies, this paper introduces a novel computational holographic encryption approach grounded in DNA coding and bit-plane decomposition. The encryption framework employs a Logistic-Sine chaotic mapping system characterized by a substantial key space to control encryption particulars. The plaintext image undergoes encryption through the input–output algorithm of computational holography. This algorithm shifts information from the spatial domain, represented by the greyscale map, to the frequency domain, concealing the distribution of pixel values. The incorporation of DNA coding and bit-plane transformations serves to intensify the chaos within the ciphertext image, thereby maximizing the efficacy of the encryption process. By integrating principles from biology and physical optics into encryption methodologies, this approach amalgamates diverse scientific domains. Simulation results and data analyses substantiate that the proposed encryption algorithm adeptly withstands various attacks, attesting to its security and reliability.

Abstract:An optical encryption method based on computer generated holograms printing of photopolymer is presented. Fraunhofer diffraction is performed based on the Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, and a hologram of the Advanced Encryption Standard encrypted Quick Response code is generated to record the ciphertext. The holograms of the key and the three-dimensional image are generated by the angular spectrum diffraction algorithm. The experimental results show that large-size encrypted Quick Response (QR) code and miniature keys can be printed in photopolymers, which has good application prospects in optical encryption. This method has the advantages of high-density storage, high speed, large fault tolerance, and anti-peeping.

Abstract:The earlier proposed interference-based encryption method with two phase-only masks (POMs), which actually is a special case of our method, is quite simple and does not need iterative encoding. However, it has been found recently that the encryption method has security problems and cannot be directly applied to image encryption due to the inherent silhouette problem. Several methods based on chaotic encryption algorithms have been proposed to remove the problem by postprocessing of the POMs, which increased the computation time or led to digital inverse computation in decryption. Here we propose a new method for image encryption based on optical interference and analytical algorithm that can be directly used for image encryption. The information of the target image is hidden into three POMs, and the silhouette problem that exists in the method with two POMs can be resolved during the generation procedure of POMs based on the interference principle. Abstract:Holographic communication is a three-dimensional (3D) video communication technology based on computer-generated holograms (CGHs) which has the potential to give users a more realistic visual perception. As this is an emerging field, the encrypted encoding and decoding methods in holographic communication have not been widely studied. In this work, a watermarking and encryption method for holographic communication is proposed. A watermark is inserted into the original image using the discrete cosine transform before the calculation of the CGH, while a secret key is employed to produce the encrypted CGH during the holographic calculation. Through the proposed watermarking and encryption method, the signal of holographic communication is difficult to decrypt. Even if the signal is decrypted, the source of the leak is easy to trace due to the existence of the watermark. The watermarking and encryption method can provide a practical solution for the privacy protection and copyright protection of 3D video communication.

Abstract:A method is proposed to enhance the security of three-dimensional (3D) objects through computer-generated hologram (CGH) encryption and hiding. The process begins by encoding the 3D object using an iterative angular-spectrum layer-oriented method to create an optimized phase-only CGH. Next, the encrypted image is produced by modulating the phase-only CGH with a chaotic random phase mask (CRPM) generated through Henon mapping. Subsequently, a combination of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) is utilized to embed the encrypted data into a visually secure image, ensuring the encryption and concealment of 3D objects. During decryption, the accurate decryption procedure and keys must be applied to achieve the final reconstruction. The utilization of CGH in conjunction with CRPM effectively enhances the security of 3D objects, while the integration of DWT and SVD ensures the visual security properties of the encrypted data, providing a dual layer of protection for 3D objects. Experimental simulation results demonstrate that this approach achieves high-security encryption and concealment of 3D objects, ensuring high-quality decryption of 3D objects during the reconstruction process.

Abstract:A novel approach for encrypting three-dimensional (3-D) scene information hierarchically based on computer-generated holograms (CGHs) is proposed. The CGHs of the layer-oriented 3-D scene information are produced by angular-spectrum propagation algorithm at different depths. All the CGHs are then modulated by different chaotic random phase masks generated by the logistic map. Hierarchical encryption encoding is applied when all the CGHs are accumulated one by one, and the reconstructed volume of the 3-D scene information depends on permissions of different users. The chaotic random phase masks could be encoded into several parameters of the chaotic sequences to simplify the transmission and preservation of the keys. Optical experiments verify the proposed method and numerical simulations show the high key sensitivity, high security, and application flexibility of the method.

Abstract:We propose to realize visual cryptography in an indirect way with the help of computer-generated hologram. At present, the recovery method of visual cryptography is mainly superimposed on transparent film or superimposed by computer equipment, which greatly limits the application range of visual cryptography. In this paper, the shares of the visual cryptography were encoded with computer-generated hologram, and the shares is reproduced by optical means, and then superimposed and decrypted. This method can expand the application range of visual cryptography and further increase the security of visual cryptography.

Abstract:Optical encryption system is generally vulnerable to attacks based on phase retrieval algorithm. In this paper, an improved encryption scheme is proposed based on the coherent 4-f system and complementary masks. This pair of irregular shaped complementary masks are introduced to cut the ciphertext and regroup them. The stitched ciphertext has high immunity to ciphertext attacks based on phase retrieval algorithms. We have done numerically simulation to demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed technique.

Abstract:Based on the joint Fresnel transform correlator, a new system for double images hiding is presented. By this security system, the dual secret images are encrypted and recorded as intensity patterns employing phase-shifting interference technology. To improve the system security, a dual images hiding method is used. By digital means, the deduced encryption complex distribution is divided into two subparts. For each image, only one subpart is reserved and modulated by a phase factor. Then these modified results are combined together and embedded into the host image. With all correct keys, by inverse Fresnel transform, the secret images can be extracted. By the phase modulation, the cross talk caused by images superposition can be reduced for their spatial parallel separation. Theoretical analyses have shown the system's feasibility. Computer simulations are performed to show the encryption capacity of the proposed system. Numerical results are presented to verify the validity and the efficiency of the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper proposes an asymmetric scanning holography cryptosystem based on the Elgamal algorithm. The method encodes images with sine and cosine holograms. Subsequently, each hologram is divided into a signed bit matrix and an unsigned hologram matrix, both encrypted using the sender's private key and the receiver's public key. The resulting ciphertext matrices are then transmitted to the receiver. Upon receipt, the receiver decrypts the ciphertext matrices using their private key and the sender's public key. We employ an asymmetric single-image encryption method for key management and dispatch for securing imaging and transmission. Furthermore, we conducted a sensitivity analysis of the encryption system. The image encryption metrics, including histograms of holograms, adjacent pixel correlation, image correlation, the peak signal-to-noise ratio, and the structural similarity index, were also examined. The results demonstrate the security and stability of the proposed method.

Abstract:We present a new optical image encryption algorithm that is based on extended fractional Fourier transform (FRT) and digital holography technique. We can perform the encryption and decryption with more parameters compared with earlier similar methods in FRT domain. In the extended FRT encryption system, the input data to be encrypted is extended fractional Fourier transformed two times and random phase mask is placed at the output plane of the first extended FRT. By use of an interference with a wave from another random phase mask, the encrypted data is stored as a digital hologram. The data retrieval is operated by all-digital means. Computer simulations are presented to verify its validity and efficiency.

Abstract:In this study, we proposed a holographic identity verification encryption system that integrates face recognition, air-writing, and the multiple point cloud gridding encryption (M-PCGE) method to ensure multi-level security for objects. The experimental results show that the M-PCGE algorithm proposed in this paper achieves image encryption and decryption quickly with a high degree of restoration, and the security is verified.

Abstract:We propose a secure digital holographic system with signal and reference waves dually encrypted. Two random phase masks are used to encrypt the images in the input and the Fourier planes. The reference beam is phase encoded by another random phase mask. The encrypted image and the key are recorded by a CCD camera. The data can be processed or transferred directly by computer. We theoretically and experimentally demonstrate encryption and decryption of multiple images and the results show a high quality and good fault tolerance.
