Abstract:Recently, various studies on logistics automation systems using new digital technologies such as robots, AI, and large data have been conducted to address the increasing volume of goods in the global import and export market. Furthermore, to improve space efficiency, logistics warehouses with high-level but short rack intervals, such as a stacker crane with rigid linkages are being introduced. However, it has the disadvantage of having a rigid structure, consuming a lot of energy, which makes it difficult to install/dismantle repair kits. To overcome these shortcomings, this article proposes a system to perform logistics automation tasks on an 8 m high rack using a cable-driven parallel robot (CDPR) with a large workspace, high repetition rate, fast task processing speed, and proven core performance. To improve the accuracy of CDPR, the position error of CDPR was measured within ±0.2 mm after applying the position accuracy improvement algorithm through ArUCO markers. The maximum workspace was 8 m (W) × 0.017 m (D) × 7.19 m (H), and the end-effector's maximum speed and acceleration were 6.13 m/s, and 7.21 m/s 2 , respectively. And, when the energy consumption of the stacker crane and the CDPR was compared using the Recurdyn Dynamic Analysis program under the same driving conditions, the CDPR saved about 53.6% of the energy, and the performance of the end-effector was measured for an hour 125 times—63 times of loading and 62 times of unloading. This high-rack CDPR was successfully tested in the logistics warehouse.
