Abstract:The urbanization process brings a huge challenge for the city community management. Through the analysis of domestic community management model, this paper proposes the community resources plan based on the theory of virtual organization, and constructs the community virtual organization model and the information sharing model, which has realized the community residents autonomous and community's integrated management through meta-synthesis community related resources. Based on the project management theory, this paper also constructs the new city community management model through the research of community resources plan. It can change the plot's decentralized management into community's integrated management and effectively solve some problems of the community management system.

Abstract:<p>As a state-of-the-art computer technology, virtual reality (VR) is considered to play an important role in helping manufacturing companies stay competitive in the international market. However, despite the achievements made in the field of VR, it is still an emerging technology that lacks deeper exploration and development in industrial application scenarios, especially in the coming fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0). This paper aims to systematically investigate the applications of VR in industrial maintenance to discover evidence of its values, limitations, and future directions so that VR can be guided to better serve manufacturing enterprises in remaining competitive in the coming Industry 4.0. A systematic literature review (SLR) methodology is adopted to review primary studies on this topic, by which 86 studies are ultimately included. The results show that VR has proved its value in benefiting maintenance issues through the product lifecycle. However, VR is still not an indispensable element for the lifecycle management of products regarding maintenance-related issues. Several key findings are concluded based on the analysis of the 86 studies. This review is valuable for researchers who are interested in the application of VR technology in maintainability design, maintenance training or maintenance task assistance.</p>

Abstract:Aimed at the disadvantages of the traditional research methods of the vehicle vibration,in terms of the concept and the theory model of the virtual testing based on VR,the system framework of the virtual testing platform of vehicle vibration based on VR(VTPOVVBVR),which consists of VR subsystem,modeling subsystem and VI subsystem,was proposed,and the implementation method of the VTPOVVBVR was studied.The three subsystems of the VTPOVVBVR were discussed,and the display of the virtual testing results of the vehicle vibration was presented,which shows that the vehicle vibration and its signals of time domain and frequency domain could be observed simultaneously in three observation models respectively by the aid of the platform.
A Virtual-Reality Spatial Matching Algorithm and Its Application on Equipment Maintenance Support: System Design and User Study

Abstract:Equipment maintenance support is an important technical measure to maintain the equipment’s expected performance. However, the current maintenance supports are mainly completed by maintainers under the guidance of technical manual or additional experts, which may be insufficient for some advanced equipment with rapid update rate and complex inner structure. The rising technology of augmented reality (AR) provides a new solution for equipment maintenance support, while one of the key issues limiting the practical application of AR in maintenance field is the spatial matching issue between virtual space and reality space. In this paper, a virtual-reality spatial matching algorithm is designed to accurately superimpose the virtual information to the corresponding actual scene on the AR glasses. In this algorithm, two methods are proposed to help achieve the stable matching of virtual space and reality space. In detail, to obtain the saliency map with less background interference and improved saliency detection accuracy, a saliency detection method is designed based on the super-pixel segmentation. To deal with the problems of uneven distribution on the feature points and weak robustness to the light changes, a feature extraction and matching method is proposed for acquiring the feature point matching set with the utilization of the obtained saliency map. Finally, an immersive equipment maintenance support system (IEMSS) is developed based on this spatial matching algorithm, which provides the maintainers with immediate and immersive guidance to improve the efficiency and safety in the maintenance task, as well as offers maintenance training for inexperienced maintainers with expanded virtual information in case of limited experts. Several comparative experiments are implemented to verify the effectiveness of proposed methods, and a user study of real system application is carried out to further evaluate the superiority of these methods when applied in the IEMSS.

Abstract:Providing the excellent equipment maintenance service for customers is more and more important to manufacturing enterprise. But traditional after-sale maintenance service management has many problems, such as the slow response to maintenance service request and the long waiting time of the customers; the process to deal with the maintenance request is not normative; the mechanism of the initiative maintenance service is lacked. This research focuses on resolving these problems with workflow technology, data mining and enterprise application integration technology; the equipment maintenance management system for customer service is proposed. The function model of the system is analyzed; the five-tier architecture based on J2EE application server is presented, then the algorithm to implement the forecast and warning for the equipment maintenance service, the development and implementation process of the equipment maintenance management system based on the workflow technology, the modeling of the maintenance service workflow, and the information exchange model of the system with other application system and the integration technology and methods are described in detail. Based on these research results, the running application system is developed; a case of providing maintenance service for customer in textile machine industry is studied.

Abstract:In order to improve the maintenance business level of company and provide it with intelligent maintenance support, a maintenance strategy based on knowledge was proposed. Firstly, the conceptual of maintenance knowledge was introduced and the transformation of maintenance knowledge from tacit to explicit was researched as well. Then this maintenance knowledge was described with the form of maintenance record. Secondly a kind of maintenance system workflow based on knowledge was put forward, in which the topic characteristic of maintenance requirement was described with a mixed vector space model, and maintenance knowledge base was constructed through the processes of topic template training, unknown maintenance topic analytics and maintenance topic classify. Based on these, a cosine distance algorithm was adopted to classify the maintenance requirement topic by similarity measure. Finally several key technologies mentioned above were explained in detail.

Abstract:The characteristics of aviation maintenance brought on special requirements for virtual maintenance, and those requirements couldn't be satisfied in the current domestic virtual maintenance systems. To solve the problem, a framework of aviation virtual maintenance system oriented to aviation assembly was presented. Besides, the system was implemented based on Delmia software. The system consisted of five function modules: maintenance scenario creation, maintenance simulation, maintainability analysis, evaluation and report, data management and maintenance. Taking main rotor blade replacement of a certain helicopter as an example, all functions of the system were demonstrated.

Abstract:This paper surveys the literature related to optimal maintenance and replacement models for multi-unit systems. The emphasis is on work appearing since the 1976 survey A Survey of Maintenance Models: The Control and Surveillance of Deteriorating Systems by W.P. Pierskalla and J.A. Voelker. The literature is divided into five topical categories: machine interference/ repair models, group/ block/ cannibalization/ opportunistic models, inventory/ maintenance models, other maintenance/ replacement models, and inspection/ maintenance models. This paper also provides the reader with a quick guide to a variety of classification schemes. Each of the alternative classification schemes also provides an indication as to the categorization of each of the surveyed articles.

Abstract:To deal with problems in traditional after-sale maintenance service management, the equipment maintenance management system oriented to customer service was presented by using workflow management and data mining technology. The functional model of the system and the architecture based on J2EE application server were analyzed. Algorithm to implement the forecast and warning for the equipment maintenance service, the development and implementation process of the equipment maintenance management system based on workflow technology were described in detail. Modeling of the maintenance service workflow, and the information exchange model of the system with other application systems and the integration technology and methods were described. Finally, a case of providing maintenance service for customer in textile machine industry was provided to illustrate the application prospect of the proposed system.

Based on previous work experience, this article summarizes the content of historical building protection based on virtual reality technology. Moreover, the author also discusses the protection and maintenance of historical buildings based on virtual reality technology from the following four aspects. It includes the maintenance characteristics, the specific conditions of the project, reasonable maintenance plans formulation, and three-dimensional virtual environment modeling.

Abstract:This paper highlights the importance of maintenance techniques in the coming industrial revolution, reviews the evolution of maintenance techniques, and presents a comprehensive literature review on the latest advancement of maintenance techniques, i.e., Predictive Maintenance (PdM), with emphasis on system architectures, optimization objectives, and optimization methods. In industry, any outages and unplanned downtime of machines or systems would degrade or interrupt a company's core business, potentially resulting in significant penalties and immeasurable reputation and economic loss. Existing traditional maintenance approaches, such as Reactive Maintenance (RM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM), suffer from high prevent and repair costs, inadequate or inaccurate mathematical degradation processes, and manual feature extraction. The incoming fourth industrial revolution is also demanding for a new maintenance paradigm to reduce the maintenance cost and downtime, and increase system availability and reliability. Predictive Maintenance (PdM) is envisioned the solution. In this survey, we first provide a high-level view of the PdM system architectures including PdM 4.0, Open System Architecture for Condition Based Monitoring (OSA-CBM), and cloud-enhanced PdM system. Then, we review the specific optimization objectives, which mainly comprise cost minimization, availability/reliability maximization, and multi-objective optimization. Furthermore, we present the optimization methods to achieve the aforementioned objectives, which include traditional Machine Learning (ML) based and Deep Learning (DL) based approaches. Finally, we highlight the future research directions that are critical to promote the application of DL techniques in the context of PdM.

Abstract:Maintainability, especially for complex products, is a very important general quality characteristic. Physical accessibility is the primary element in maintainability design. Up to now, VR (virtual reality) technology-assisted maintainability evaluation, analysis and design, called virtual maintenance, has become the mainstream and achieved some results. In virtual maintenance, the most widely used accessibility evaluation method is to use virtual human accessible envelope to judge and evaluate accessibility. However, this method can only give two kinds of evaluation results: accessible and inaccessible. Moreover, the envelope lacks sufficient data and theoretical support, so the precision and accuracy of evaluation method need to be improved. In this paper, a parameterized accessibility evaluation method is proposed and the corresponding evaluation models and tool are created. Firstly, to objectively describe the movement of human body, a 6-joint and 5-link D-H (Denavit–Hartenberg) link model is established from the waist to the fingertip of the human body, and the ranges of 10 degrees of freedom and angles related to accessibility are determined according to ergonomics. Then, comfort is introduced to refine the accessibility evaluation, and a multi-level accessibility evaluation system based on comfort is constructed according to RULA (the rapid upper limb assessment). Thirdly, in order to facilitate the application of this method in virtual environment, accessibility envelope models and accessibility evaluation tool are created based on the proposed method. Finally, compared with RULA and the accessible envelope provided by DELMIA, respectively, the results from virtual and real environment of the comparative experiment show that the proposed method and tool are accurate, more precise and more efficient.

Maintenance Performance in the Age of Industry 4.0: A Bibliometric Performance Analysis and a Systematic Literature Review

Abstract:Recently, there has been a growing interest in issues related to maintenance performance management, which is confirmed by a significant number of publications and reports devoted to these problems. However, theoretical and application studies indicate a lack of research on the systematic literature reviews and surveys of studies that would focus on the evolution of Industry 4.0 technologies used in the maintenance area in a cross-sectional manner. Therefore, the paper reviews the existing literature to present an up-to-date and content-relevant analysis in this field. The proposed methodology includes bibliometric performance analysis and a review of the systematic literature. First, the general bibliometric analysis was conducted based on the literature in Scopus and Web of Science databases. Later, the systematic search was performed using the Primo multi-search tool following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The main inclusion criteria included the publication dates (studies published from 2012–2022), studies published in English, and studies found in the selected databases. In addition, the authors focused on research work within the scope of the Maintenance 4.0 study. Therefore, papers within the following research fields were selected: (a) augmented reality, (b) virtual reality, (c) system architecture, (d) data-driven decision, (e) Operator 4.0, and (f) cybersecurity. This resulted in the selection of the 214 most relevant papers in the investigated area. Finally, the selected articles in this review were categorized into five groups: (1) Data-driven decision-making in Maintenance 4.0, (2) Operator 4.0, (3) Virtual and Augmented reality in maintenance, 4) Maintenance system architecture, and 5) Cybersecurity in maintenance. The obtained results have led the authors to specify the main research problems and trends related to the analyzed area and to identify the main research gaps for future investigation from academic and engineering perspectives.

ICVMS: An Internet-based controller virtual maintenance system

Abstract:The Internet provides great potential for the controller software maintenance of process plants. This paper aims at developing an Internet-based controller virtual maintenance system (ICVMS) to solve controller software performance monitoring and remote maintenance issues. Based on the ICVMS, control system and process model experts and real-site technicians can work together as a team to provide the controller maintenance support although they are geographically dispersed. The major challenge of ICVMS is how to test and revise remotely the new designed controller software. The generic system architecture is presented first in this paper. Then the basic model of Internet-based virtual maintenance system has been introduced, which is verb Suitable for remote designing and testing control strategies. Several essential implementation issues of the system, including software architecture, network communication architecture and Web-based user interface, are briefly described. A water tank system with a liquid level control system is used as a case study to illustrate how the prototype of ICVMS works over the Internet.

Abstract:The education and training of electrical substations play an essential role for college students and engineers majoring in electrical engineering. However, to ensure the substation's safety production and equipment operation, it is difficult for personnel from external units to enter the site for learning. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a virtual interactive training technology method to author an interactive virtual maintenance education system (VMES) for electrical substations. The system aims to build a visual training and education platform for virtual substations to help learners master the station's equipment, operation, maintenance, evaluation, and other processes. Firstly, the system establishes a component‐level virtual interaction element to encapsulate an electrical substation virtual maintenance model that dynamically responds to user operations. The equipment structure and system environment are visually modeled using engineering modeling software. Secondly, a virtual interactive training system is created with the functions of 3D disassembly training, fault tree reliability evaluation, and AHP‐FCE maintenance assessment. Finally, through four operating systems, we evaluate the compatibility of the VMES, and we recruit learners to evaluate and discuss emerging and common educational models. The practical application results prove that the system can significantly improve students' learning efficiency and interest. Meanwhile, due to the increased number of interactive operations in VMES, participants can proficiently master the composition and working principles of equipment in substations, and cognitive load can be reduced.

Abstract:Purpose One of the most critical infrastructures is a data center (DC) because of it having many servers, computers and other equipment. DCs provide online services for various companies in the information technology (IT) industry. DC facilities should provide reliable online services while addressing the required quality and performance level considering maximum reliability and availability. The purpose of this study is to represent and classify the main findings in this area and to identify the main research gaps and shortcomings from the perspective of research. Design/methodology/approach This paper provides an organized and systematic literature review focusing on topics regarding the operation and maintenance (O&M) management of DCs. Findings Although there are several studies on O&M management systems for industrial systems and facilities, a limited number of studies with few methods and models have focused on DCs so far and these facilities require more attention. This paper identifies the issues and challenges for DC buildings and facilities and provides a conclusion of the findings to highlight the main research limitations for discovering new potential methods as future research opportunities. Research limitations/implications The paper has highlighted the main practical issues of DCs in terms of maintenance management. Several research works have been discussed specifically for DC’s maintenance, which makes this paper a credible source for researchers, maintenance managers and companies involved in the area of DC. Because several of the reviewed literature were based on real case studies, decision-makers in the DC maintenance sector can take advantage of new research on maintenance scheduling to reduce the costs of maintenance. Originality/value The paper has presented a comprehensive list of frequent keywords in recent publications related to O&M management for DCs. It has provided a categorized list of publications based on by their topic, methodology and case study. Because this paper has discussed research works specifically for DC’s maintenance, it is a credible source for researchers, maintenance managers and companies involved in the area of DCs.

Abstract:The way practitioners perform maintenance tasks in practice is little known by researchers. In turn, practitioners are not always up to date with the proposals provided by the research community. This work investigates the gap between software maintenance techniques proposed by the research community and the software maintenance practice. We carried out a survey with 112 practitioners from 92 companies and 12 countries. We concentrate on analyzing if and how practitioners understand and apply the following subjects: bad smells, refactoring, software metrics, and change impact analysis. This study shows that there is a large gap between research approaches and industry practice in those subjects, especially in change impact analysis and software metrics.
