Abstract:•A MSM model was used to evaluate the wheat-Cd using 140 field survey data.•General model parameters were used and no data-fitting process involved.•Better correlation was obtained by MSM than the tested chemical extraction methods.•Field surveys showed that MSM-Cd could explain ∼75 % of Cd uptake by wheat.•A soil sensitivity map was proposed to visualize areas with high dissolving risk of Cd.
