Abstract:In this paper, we prove sharp l2$\ell <^>2$ decay estimates of nonnegative generalized subharmonic functions on graphs with positive Laplacian spectrum, which extends the result by Li and Wang (J. Differential Geom. 58 (2001) 501-534) on Riemannian manifolds.

Abstract:We study the p-independence of spectra of Laplace operators on graphs arising from regular Dirichlet forms on discrete spaces. Here, a sufficient criterion is given solely by a uniform subexponential growth condition. Moreover, under a mild assumption on the measure we show a one-sided spectral inclusion without any further assumptions. We study applications to normalized Laplacians including symmetries of the spectrum and a characterization for positivity of the Cheeger constant. Furthermore, we consider Laplacians on planar tessellations for which we relate the spectral p-independence to assumptions on the curvature.

Abstract:We prove an analogue of Yau's Caccioppoli-type inequality for nonnegative subharmonic functions on graphs. We then obtain a Liouville theorem for harmonic or non-negative subharmonic functions of class Lq, 1<=q<∞, on any graph, and a quantitative version for q > 1. Also, we provide counterexamples for Liouville theorems for 0 < q < 1.

Abstract:Brighton (in J Geom Anal 23(2):562–570, 2013) proved the Liouville theorem for bounded harmonic functions on weighted manifolds satisfying non-negative curvature dimension condition, i.e. $$\mathrm {CD}(0,\infty ).$$ In this paper, we provide a new proof of this result by using the reverse Poincaré inequality. Moreover, we adopt this approach to prove the Liouville theorem for bounded harmonic functions on graphs satisfying the $$\mathrm {CD}(0,\infty )$$ condition.

Abstract:In this short note, we prove Lieb–Thirring inequalities on manifolds with negative constant curvature. The discrete spectrum appears below the continuous spectrum , where d is the dimension of the hyperbolic space. As an application, we obtain a Pólya type inequality with not a sharp constant. An example of a 2D domain is given for which numerical calculations suggest that the Pólya inequality holds for it.

Abstract:Parallel to the signless Laplacian spectral theory, we introduce and develop the nonlinear spectral theory of signless 1-Laplacian on graphs. Again, the first eigenvalue μ^+_1 of the signless 1-Laplacian precisely characterizes the bipartiteness of a graph and naturally connects to the maxcut problem. However, the dual Cheeger constant h^+, which has only some upper and lower bounds in the Laplacian spectral theory, is proved to be 1-μ^+_1. The structure of the eigenvectors and the graphic feature of eigenvalues are also studied. The Courant nodal domain theorem for graphs is extended to the signless 1-Laplacian. A set-pair version of the Lovász extension, which aims at the equivalence between discrete combination optimization and continuous function optimization, is established to recover the relationship h^+=1-μ^+_1. A local analysis of the associated functional yields an inverse power method to determine h^+ and then produces an efficient implementation of the recursive spectral cut algorithm for the maxcut problem.

Abstract:The signless Laplacian matrix graph is the sum of its degree diagonal and adjacency matrices. In this paper, we present a sharp upper bound for the spectral radius of the adjacency matrix of a graph. Then this result and other known results are used to obtain two new sharp upper bounds for the signless Laplacian spectral radius. Moreover, the extremal graphs which attain an upper bound are characterized.
Bounds on spectral gaps of Hyperbolic spin surfaces

Abstract:We describe a method for constraining Laplacian and Dirac spectra of two dimensional compact orientable hyperbolic spin manifolds and orbifolds. The key ingredient is an infinite family of identities satisfied by the spectra. These spectral identities follow from the consistency between 1) the spectral decomposition of functions on the spin bundle into irreducible representations of $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})$ and 2) associativity of pointwise multiplication of functions. Applying semidefinite programming methods to our identities produces rigorous upper bounds on the Laplacian spectral gap as well as on the Dirac spectral gap conditioned on the former. In several examples, our bounds are nearly sharp; a numerical algorithm based on the Selberg trace formula shows that the $[0;3,3,5]$ orbifold, a particular surface with signature $[1;3]$, and the Bolza surface nearly saturate the bounds at genus $0$, $1$ and $2$ respectively. Under additional assumptions on the number of harmonic spinors carried by the spin-surface, we obtain more restrictive bounds on the Laplacian spectral gap. In particular, these bounds apply to hyperelliptic surfaces. We also determine the set of Laplacian spectral gaps attained by all compact orientable two-dimensional hyperbolic spin orbifolds. We show that this set is upper bounded by $12.13798$; this bound is nearly saturated by the $[0;3,3,5]$ orbifold, whose first non-zero Laplacian eigenvalue is $\lambda^{(0)}_1\approx 12.13623$.

Abstract:We study graphs with nonnegative Bakry-Émery curvature or Ollivier curvature outside a finite subset. For such a graph, via introducing the discrete Gromov-Hausdorff convergence we prove that the space of bounded harmonic functions is finite dimensional, and as a corollary the number of non-parabolic ends is finite.

Abstract:We study harmonic functions on general weighted graphs which allow for a compatible intrinsic metric. We prove an L^p Liouville type theorem which is a quantitative integral L^p estimate of harmonic functions analogous to Karp's theorem for Riemannian manifolds. As corollaries we obtain Yau's L^p-Liouville type theorem on graphs, identify the domain of the generator of the semigroup on L^p and get a criterion for recurrence. As a side product, we show an analogue of Yau's L^p Caccioppoli inequality. Furthermore, we derive various Liouville type results for harmonic functions on graphs and harmonic maps from graphs into Hadamard spaces.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the discrete Laplacian acting on 1-forms and we study its spectrum relative to the spectrum of the 0-form Laplacian. We show that the non zero spectrum can coincide for these Laplacians with the same nature. We examine the characteristics of 0-spectrum of the 1-form Laplacian compared to the cycles of graphs.

Abstract:In this note we study the eigenvalue growth of infinite graphs with discrete spectrum. We assume that the corresponding Dirichlet forms satisfy certain Sobolev-type inequalities and that the total measure is finite. In this sense, the associated operators on these graphs display similarities to elliptic operators on bounded domains in the continuum. Specifically, we prove lower bounds on the eigenvalue growth and show by examples that corresponding upper bounds can not be established.

As consequences, we obtain exponential integrability of integrable Lipschitz functions and moment bounds at the same assumption on graphs.

Abstract:Signed graphs have appeared in a broad variety of applications, ranging from social networks to biological networks, from distributed control and computation to power systems. In this article, we investigate spectral properties of signed Laplacians for undirected signed graphs. We find conditions on the negative weights under which a signed Laplacian is positive semidefinite via the Kron reduction and multiport network theory. For signed Laplacians that are indefinite, we characterize their inertias with the same framework. Furthermore, we build connections between signed Laplacians, generalized $M$-matrices, and eventually exponentially positive matrices.

Abstract:In the present paper, we apply Alexandrov geometry methods to study geometric analysis aspects of infinite semiplanar graphs with nonnegative combinatorial curvature in the sense of Higuchi. We obtain the metric classification of these graphs and construct the graphs embedded in the projective plane minus one point. Moreover, we show the volume doubling property and the Poincar\'e inequality on such graphs. The quadratic volume growth of these graphs implies the parabolicity. In addition, we prove the polynomial growth harmonic function theorem analogous to the case of Riemannian manifolds.
Maximal multiplicity of Laplacian eigenvalues in negatively curved surfaces

Abstract:In this work, we obtain the first upper bound on the multiplicity of Laplacian eigenvalues for negatively curved surfaces which is sublinear in the genus g. Our proof relies on a trace argument for the heat kernel, and on the idea of leveraging an r-net in the surface to control this trace. This last idea was introduced in [Jiang-Tidor-Yao-Zhang-Zhao, 2021] for similar spectral purposes in the context of graphs of bounded degree. Our method is robust enough to also yield an upper bound on the ``approximate multiplicity'' of eigenvalues, i.e., the number of eigenvalues in windows of size $1/\log^\beta(g)$, $\beta>0$. This work provides new insights on a conjecture by Colin de Verdi{è}re [Colin de Verdi{è}re, 1986] and new ways to transfer spectral results from graphs to surfaces.

Abstract:Consider a semigraph $G=(V,\,E)$; in this paper, we study the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix of $G$. We show that the Laplacian of $G$ is positive semi-definite, and $G$ is connected if and only if $\lambda_2 >0.$ Along the similar lines of graph theory bounds on the largest eigenvalue, we obtain upper and lower bounds on the largest Laplacian eigenvalue of G and enumerate the Laplacian eigenvalues of some special semigraphs such as star semigraph, rooted 3-uniform semigraph tree.

Abstract:This paper mainly deals with the Sturm-Liouville operator \begin{equation*} \mathbf{H}=\frac{1}{w(x)}\left( -\frac{\mathrm{d}}{\mathrm{d}x}p(x)\frac{ \mathrm{d}}{\mathrm{d}x}+q(x)\right) ,\text{ }x\in \Gamma \end{equation*} acting in $L_{w}^{2}\left( \Gamma \right) ,$ where $\Gamma $ is a metric graph. We establish a relationship between the bottom of the spectrum and the positive solutions of quantum graphs, which is a generalization of the classical Allegretto-Piepenbrink theorem. Moreover, we prove the Persson-type theorem, which characterizes the infimum of the essential spectrum.

Abstract:We study the differences of two consecutive eigenvalues lambda i - lambda i - 1 , i up to 2 g - 2, for the Laplacian on hyperbolic surfaces of genus g , and show that the supremum of such spectral gaps over the moduli space has infimum limit at least 4 1 as the genus goes to infinity. A min-max principle for eigenvalues on degenerating hyperbolic surfaces is also established.
