Abstract:A series of vinyl sulfones were synthesized from terminal olefins and sulfonyl chloride derivatives catalyzed by CuCl/I2. Interestingly, addition of catalytic amount of I2 was benefit for improving the yield greatly and the yield of vinyl sulfone was up to 97%. Besides, the activities of several kinds of copper salts and the effect of solvents were investigated.

Abstract:Comprehensive Summary The selective oxidative sulfonylation of alkenes with selenium sulfonate depended on the reaction conditions. The electrochemical C—H sulfonylation proceeded smoothly to afford ( E )‐vinyl sulfones with good selectivity in an undivided cell without external oxidant. While aerobic trifunctionalization of alkenes occurred in the presence of KI in the air, which provides β ‐keto selenosulfones via the formation of C—O, C—S, and C—Se bonds in one‐pot. Following control experiments, a plausible mechanism is proposed to rationalize the experimental results.

Abstract:A dioxygen-triggered oxosulfonylation/sulfonylation of unactivated olefins to achieve β-keto sulfones/sulfones has been developed. Interestingly, pluralistic mechanisms were found when different types of compounds were applied as substrates, and different products were achieved. The reaction is carried out with a high atomic efficiency in the absence of a metal and a catalyst at room temperature under an air atmosphere. Abstract:A green approach for the generation of beta-keto sulfones through a reaction of aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates and sulfur dioxide with silyl enol ether under catalyst-and additive-free conditions has been realized. This reaction proceeds efficiently at room temperature and goes to completion in half an hour. During the reaction process, aryldiazoni-um tetrafluoroborate is treated with DABCO center dot(SO2)(2) (DABCO= 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) to provide a sulfonyl radical as the key intermediate, which then initiates the transformation. Oxidants or metal catalysts are avoided, and the presence of DABCO also plays an important role in the reaction.

Abstract:The cyclization reaction and hydrosulfonylation reaction of ynones have been simultaneously realized through a single operation. Under the mediation of cesium carbonate, different S‐(α‐hydroxyaryl) aryl thiosulfonates reacted with various ynones to produce functionalized vinyl sulfones in 37%‐83% yields with E‐selectivity. At the same time, a variety of benzoxathiins were formed in 42%‐97% yields.

Abstract:A copper/cobalt-catalyzed difunctionalization of alkenes with sulfonylazides and tert-butyl hydroperoxide has been achieved. This protocol provides an efficient and direct oxysulfonylation approach to β-ketosulfones and β-sulfonyl peroxides in moderate to good yields under mild conditions. This methodology applies sulfonylazides as a new sulfonyl radical source and features a wide substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract:C–H/N–H cross-coupling has become a key technology for the selective conjugation of azole drug molecules. However, the development of new synthetic models and green chemical methods is imperative to enhance the construction of multi-functional compounds and compounds with unique functional groups. We herein reported an electrochemical synthesis of α-tetrazolyl ketones with excellent yields and broad substrate scope, encompassing electron-donating and electron-withdrawing group of aryl ketones, heterocycles, alkyl and various ketone drugs. It was further proved that α-iodoketone was involved in this transformation of the reaction as a critical intermediate.

Abstract:A selenium‐catalyzed electrophilic cascade reaction of vinylarenes with N‐fluorobenzenesulfonimide for the efficient synthesis of important β‐keto sulfones via a single operation is developed. The reactions of vinylarenes bearing electron‐withdrawing groups and electron‐donating groups proceeded smoothly in the air and gave products in up to 94% yield. Mechanistic studies suggest that vinyl amines generated by oxidative amination of vinylarenes are the intermediates, the cleavage of N‐S bond and the recombination of sulfonyl radical lead to 1,3‐migration of sulfonyl, and hydrolysis affords the products β‐keto sulfones.

Abstract:A novel and controllable synthesis of thioacetals/thioketals and β-sulfanyl ketones mediated by the reaction of aldehyde/acetone with thiols has been developed. In this protocol, β-sulfanyl ketones can be generated without the prior preparation of α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds. A variety of thiols reacted with aldehyde/acetone and provided the corresponding thioacetals/thioketals and β-sulfanyl ketones in good to excellent yields, respectively. This protocol is operationally simple, mild, and atom-economical, providing controllable access to thioacetals/thioketals and thia-Michael addition products under mild conditions.

Abstract:Herein we report an electrochemical strategy for the construction of polysubstituted oxazoles from easily available ketones and acetonitrile under room temperature. The method shows high efficiency, a broad substrate scope, and requires no external chemical oxidant. Mechanistic investigations suggest that the reaction proceeds through a Ritter-type reaction/oxidative cyclization using acetonitrile as the reactant and solvent. X-ray crystallographic analysis reveals that the reaction involves the attack of acetonitrile on the carbonyl carbon instead of the α-carbon.

Abstract:An electrochemical oxidative difunctionalization of internal and terminal alkynes with sulfonyl hydrazides for the synthesis of β -keto sulfones is achieved. The reaction involves the addition of sulfonyl radicals to alkynes, and the resulting alkenyl radicals are oxidized to alkenyl cations, which are then nucleophilically attacked by H 2 O, followed by tautomerization to form β -keto sulfones. The method is green and sustainable as it is catalyst-free, oxidant-free, and additive-free. The new C-O and C-S bonds can be constructed in one-pot to directly access β -keto sulfone derivatives.

Abstract:We report a set of electrochemically regulated protocols for the divergent synthesis of ketones and β-keto esters from the same β-hydroxycarboxylic acid starting materials. Enabled by electrochemical control, the anodic oxidation of carboxylic acids proceeded in either a one-electron or a two-electron pathway, leading to a 1,4-aryl transfer or a semipinacol-type 1,2-group transfer product with excellent chemoselectivity. The 1,4-aryl transfer represents an unprecedented example of carbon-to-oxygen group transfer proceeding via a radical mechanism. In contrast to previously reported radical group transfer reactions, this 1,4-group transfer process features the migration of electron-rich aryl substituents. Furthermore, with these chemoselective electrochemical oxidation protocols, a range of ketones and β-keto esters including those possessing a challenging-to-access medium-sized ring could be synthesized in excellent yields.

Abstract:Sulfoxide is an important structural motif widely found in medicine, materials, chiral catalysis, and many other fields. The development of green and sustainable synthetic methods for their efficient preparation is of great significance. Herein, we have unraveled an electrochemical β-chlorosulfoxidation of alkenes, using the readily available thiols and hydrochloride as the limiting agents. This protocol features a simple operation, wide substrate scope, and good functionality compatibility. Notably, the thus obtained β-chlorosulfoxides have been shown to be versatile building blocks for the preparation of diverse functionalized β-sulfoxides.
