Abstract:Interval-valued data exist in many practical situations, due to various factors such as random error, incompletion or inaccuracy. In rough set theory, interval-valued decision systems can be viewed as generalized models of single-valued decision systems. In this paper, from the viewpoint of interval variable, we propose a new dominance relation based on probability distribution. Consequently, dominance-based rough set model for interval-valued ordered decision systems is constructed with the proposed dominance relation. Moreover, the proposed model examines attribute reduction in interval-valued ordered decision systems.

Abstract:Interval-valued information systems are general models of single-valued information systems. Interval-values appear to a way to describe the uncertainty that affects the observed objects. However, there are relatively few studies on incomplete interval-valued data. The aim of this paper is to present a dominance-based fuzzy rough set approach to incomplete interval-valued information systems. A fuzzy dominance relation which aims to describe the degree of dominance in terms of pairs of objects is proposed. Based on the proposed relation, we extend the definitions of fuzzy approximation operators and investigate the uncertainty measurement issue. A new form of fuzzy conditional entropy to measure attribute importance is presented. Meanwhile, a corresponding heuristic attribute reduction algorithm is constructed for incomplete interval-valued decision systems. Experiments show that the presented fuzzy conditional entropy and the proposed algorithm are effective.

Abstract:Some of the rules derived by DRSA (Dominance-based Rough Set Approach) from incomplete decision systems may contain unknown values. To overcome the shortcoming, this paper proposes a new DRSA, which is based on novel dominance relation. The adapted relation is distinguished from traditional dominance relation by two roles, a subject and a reference. The subject played by an object from the universe leads to one-way comparison with the reference done by a virtual object from the virtual space. By the approach, virtual objects without unknown values, instead of objects that may carry unknown values, are used to extract decision rules from incomplete decision system, which brings about the induced rules without any unknown values. A numerical example is employed to substantiate the conceptual arguments.

Abstract:Dominance-based Rough Set Approach(DRSA) is different from the Classical Rough Set Approach(CRSA) because it takes into account preference orders in the domains of attributes and in the set of decision classes.Therefore the rules as 'if…then…' are more suitable and popular in practice.In this paper,the general concepts and characters of dominance-based rough set approach are introduced firstly.Then some applications of dominance-based rough set approach in data mining are presented,including rules generation and attributes reduction.Finally the status quo and future work of research on dominance-base rough set approach are discussed.

Abstract:Intuitionistic fuzzy information systems are generalized types of conventional fuzzy-valued information systems. By introducing a dominance relation to intuitionistic fuzzy information systems, we propose a notion of dominance intuitionistic fuzzy information systems (DIFIS) and establish a dominance-based rough set model, which is mainly based on the substitution of the indiscernibility relation in classic rough set theory by a dominance relation that is defined on the score and accuracy function of intuitionistic fuzzy value in DIFIS. Furthermore, to simplify the knowledge representation and extract useful and simpler dominance intuitionistic fuzzy rules, we provide two attribute reduction approaches to eliminate the redundant information. Finally, we apply these approaches to computer auditing risk assessment, and by using an application as a case study we acquire some valuable assessment rules. These resulting rules can provide an available method to acquire knowledge from DIFISs.

Abstract:Rough set theory is a relatively new soft computing technique and has become a topic of general interest in the field of knowledge discovery and algorithm of attribute reduction.The classical rough set theory is based on relation of equivalence.In this paper,the concept of information quantity is given in dominance information system from rough set theory.Relationships between knowledge and information quantity have been built.Accordingly,a new heuristic reduction algorithm based on information quantity,of which time complexity is O(|A|3×|U|2),is proposed.It proves that the algorithm is effective through example analysis,moreover,puts forward new methods for further researching of attribute reduction.

Abstract:Although the rough set and intuitionistic fuzzy set both capture the same notion, imprecision, studies on the combination of these two theories are rare. Rule extraction is an important task in a type of decision systems where condition attributes are taken as intuitionistic fuzzy values and those of decision attribute are crisp ones. To address this issue, this paper makes a contribution of the following aspects. First, a ranking method is introduced to construct the neighborhood of every object that is determined by intuitionistic fuzzy values of condition attributes. Moreover, an original notion, dominance intuitionistic fuzzy decision tables (DIFDT), is proposed in this paper. Second, a lower/upper approximation set of an object and crisp classes that are confirmed by decision attributes is ascertained by comparing the relation between them. Third, making use of the discernibility matrix and discernibility function, a lower and upper approximation reduction and rule extraction algorithm is devised to acquire knowledge from existing dominance intuitionistic fuzzy decision tables. Finally, the presented model and algorithms are applied to audit risk judgment on information system security auditing risk judgement for CISA, candidate global supplier selection in a manufacturing company, and cars classification.

Abstract:Hesitant fuzzy information systems have been widely applied in decision-making due to their ability to handle uncertain information. In addition, dominance relationships are often taken into account in many practical decision-making problems. Therefore, it is of great significance to conduct research on hesitant fuzzy information systems involved with dominance relations. In this study, we introduce dominance relations in a hesitant fuzzy information system to make it a dominance-based hesitant fuzzy information system, which can provide a solid new idea for comparing hesitant fuzzy elements. Furthermore, a hesitant fuzzy dominance-based rough set model is constructed, and an attribute reduction method is designed to simplify the dominance-based hesitant fuzzy information system. Further, we propose lower and upper approximation discernibility matrices in the dominance-based hesitant fuzzy decision information system to extract decision rules. In addition, two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed attribute reduction methods.

Abstract:To represent the structure of data measured at different granularity levels hierarchically, the concept of multi-scale information table or decision table has been presented from the perspective of granular computing. In this study, we mainly address the issue of optimal scale selection and rule acquisition in dominance-based multi-scale intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) decision tables. By considering a type of decision systems where condition attributes are taken as dominant IF values and those of decision attributes are symbolic dominance ones, we propose two dominance-based rough sets in multi-scale IF decision tables and discuss their optimal scale selection and rule acquisition algorithms, which are used to acquire decision rules for information system security auditing risk judgment for certified information systems auditors, candidate global supplier selection, and car classification. Unlike in the existing literature, the selection of the optimal scales and reduction are simultaneously performed in the viewpoint of local and global approximations in dominance-based multi-scale IF decision tables.

Abstract:By introducing a degree dominance relation to dominance set-valued intuitionistic fuzzy decision tables, we establish a degree dominance set-valued rough set model (RSM), which is mainly based on replacing the indiscernibility relation in classical rough set theory with the degree dominance set valued relation. To simplify knowledge representation and extract some nontrivial simpler degree dominance set-valued intuitionistic fuzzy decision rules, we propose two attribute reductions of the degree dominance set-valued intuitionistic fuzzy decision tables that eliminate the redundant condition attributes that are not essential from the viewpoint of degree dominance set-valued intuitionistic fuzzy decision rules. These results will be helpful for decision-making analysis in dominance set-valued intuitionistic fuzzy decision tables.

Abstract:In group decision-making theory,how to acquire reasonable decision rules is an important issue.This paper constructed a dominance relation-based variable precision rough set model (VPRSM) in fuzzy objective information systems,and proposed some knowledge reduction definitions such as dominance-based lower/upper distribution reduction.Using a heuristic function,we devised a lower distribution reduction algorithm.Finally,this model was applied to computer audit risk appraisal and some reasonable appraisal rules were acquired.

Abstract:Interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy information systems are generalizations of conventional fuzzy-valued information systems. We introduce a dominance relation in the framework of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy information systems to come up with the concept we call a dominance-based interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy information system (DIIFIS). This system is used to establish a dominance-based rough set model, which is grounded primarily on the substitution of the indiscernibility relation in the classic rough set theory with the aforementioned dominance-based relation. This relation is defined by the score and accuracy of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy value. To simplify knowledge representation and extract useful and simple dominance-based interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy rules, we present two attribute reduction approaches to eliminating redundant information. To demonstrate the potential of these approaches, we apply them to computer auditing risk assessment, decision-making problems in wealth management, and pattern classification. Our findings confirm that the proposed rough set model is an effective means of extracting knowledge from dominance-based interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy information systems.

Abstract:Rule acquisition is significant in real life and extensively utilized in data mining. Currently, most studies have constructed rule acquisition algorithms based on the equivalence relation. However, these algorithms need to be more suitable for dominance-based decision systems and should consider applications in multi-scale environments. In this paper, we establish the dominance relation of the single-valued neutrosophic rough set model using the ranking method with the relative distance favorable degree. We then introduce this approach into a multi-scale environment to obtain the dominance relation of the multi-scale single-valued neutrosophic rough set model, resulting in two discernibility matrices and functions. We propose the algorithm for lower approximation optimal scale reduction and further examine the method of rule acquisition based on the discernibility matrix. Finally, we apply these algorithms to four random data sets to verify their effectiveness.

Abstract:In practice, the Rough set theory based reduct is hardly used as the attributes are always indeterministic and data are polluted by noise. So we propose a new Information Entropy Based Reduct searching algorithm. The information entropy is introduced into the Reduct searching algorithm, so the statistical causalities between the attributes could be found and the Reduct's unavoidable sensitivity to the noise when the γ criterion is applied could be removed. Theoretical analysis and illustrated example showed that the rule based model resulting from this algorithm uses less attributes than those of model resulting from algorithms based on Rough sets γ criterion. At the same time, when the rules are applied, they get larger coverage, especially when noise and statistical causalities exist. In industrial applications, the data are always polluted by the noise and the causalities between the attributes are indeterministic, so this algorithm is more applicable than those based on Rough sets γ criterion.

Abstract:In many real problems, it does not consider the ranking characteristic of criteria to make multi-criteria decision with classical rough sets theory. By dominance-based rough sets approach (DRSA), this paper develops methods for weight assignment respectively under two settings, with decision sorting classes and without decision sorting classes. Compared to present methods, the advantage of our methods is that: from descriptive set of the given problem, extracts the inherent rules implied by alternatives dominance relations with respect to each attribute, and avoids excessively depending on experts' experience; realizes completely data driving. Finally an example illustrates our methods are effective and reasonable.

Abstract:Dominance-based Rough Approach (DRSA) has been proposed as a machine learning and knowledge discovery methodology to handle Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding (MCDA). Due to its capacity of asking the decision maker (DM) for simple preference information and supplying easily understandable and explainable recommendations, DRSA gained much interest during the years and it is now one of the most appreciated MCDA approaches. In fact, it has been applied also beyond MCDA domain, as a general knowledge discovery and data mining methodology for the analysis of monotonic (and also non-monotonic) data. In this contribution, we recall the basic principles and the main concepts of DRSA, with a general overview of its developments and software. We present also a historical reconstruction of the genesis of the methodology, with a specific focus on the contribution of Roman Słowiński.
