Abstract:This paper proposes a model with which to analyze the user acceptance of Software as a Service (SaaS). To develop this model, empirical surveys were conducted through four rounds of questionnaires obtained from customers of China's leading e-commerce company, Alibaba. Firstly, based on the data from the first three rounds (1399 respondents), a SaaSQual of operationalizing perceived e-service quality of SaaS was developed, and its four dimensions (ease of use, security, reliability and responsiveness) were identified. Secondly, based on the data from the fourth round (1532 respondents), it was found that the level of three user perceptions (e-service quality, usefulness, and social influence) were predictive of the users' behavioral intention to use SaaS, and their direct and indirect influences were tested. This study recommends engineering improvements to SaaS based upon a better understanding of the level of user acceptance of this service.

Abstract:In this paper, the influential factor model of SaaS user acceptance was built and tested. We found that e-service quality of SaaSwas primarily made up of four dimensions: ease of use, security, reliability and responsiveness. And all of them have impacts on SaaS user acceptance and can be measured by the SaaSQual scale. We also found perceived usefulness, ease of use, reliability, responsiveness and social influence have direct positive impacts on user behavioral intention to use SaaS, while security has an indirect positive impact on user behavioral intention to use SaaS through perceived usefulness.

Abstract:As an innovation that revolutionizes application delivery based on cloud-computing, software-as-a-service (SaaS) has seen a tremendous growth during the last few years. However, its diffusion is not evenly distributed: some organizational users are open to SaaS but others are still hesitant despite the huge cost saving it may bring. The behavioral impacts of SaaS are far-reaching and the new socio-technical phenomenon deserves a close look. Based on the literature review, this study proposes a tripod model of SaaS Readiness that suggests that organizational users need to get prepared from technological, organizational and environmental aspects for the adoption of SaaS. The empirical results support that all three aspects are important for SaaS adoption yet their influences vary across psychological and overt outcome variables.

Abstract:Among several types of “cloud services”, the Software as a Service (SaaS) solution is promising. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and its modified versions have been popularly utilized for examining how users come to accept a new technology, but have not yet been employed to handle issues regarding SaaS adoption. This paper attempts to develop an explorative model that examines important factors affecting SaaS adoption, in order to facilitate understanding with regard to adoption of SaaS solutions. An explorative model using partial least squares (PLS) path modeling is proposed and a number of hypotheses are tested, which integrate TAM related theories with additional imperative constructs such as marketing effort, security and trust. Thus, the findings of this study can not only help enterprise users gain insights into SaaS adoption, but also help SaaS providers obtain inspiration in their efforts to discover more effective courses of action for improving both new product development and marketing strategy.

Abstract:Cloud computing is a Technology that has come out in the last decade and that is transforming the IT industry in huge. The Cloud computing is playing a vital role as a backbone component of the Internet of Things (IoT). In a Cloud Computing scenario, cloud services are accessible via Internet. Cloud computing is providing ondemand resources like Infrastructure, platform, and software as it is do not pay to possess the software itself but rather to use it. Pay for use concept is very attractive, hence many organizations are adopting the SaaS model drastically. Even though, each customer is unique and leads to unique variation in the requirements of the software. the SaaS is generally press into service and it yields advantages to service providers and service customers. More and more SaaS services are emerging, how to select qualified service is key problem for customers. Present quality models are not sufficient to evaluate SaaS selection on the cloud due to its tremendous increasing in the use. A quality model can be used to represent, evaluate, and differentiate the quality of the SaaS providers. In this paper, a new quality model proposed and named SAASQUAL for cloud software services.This model is based on different attributes of quality software, quality service and metrics that measure software quality and service quality in order to evaluate potential software as a service on the cloud.

Abstract:Software as a Service (SaaS) is regarded as a favorable solution to enhance a modern organization's IT performance and competitiveness; however, many organizations may still be reluctant to introduce SaaS solutions mainly because of the trust concern—they may perceive more risks than benefits. This paper presumes that an organization will augment the trust of adopting SaaS solutions when perceived risks decrease and/or perceived benefits increase. To gain insights into this issue, a solution framework using a modified Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) approach is proposed. The core logic is to treat perceived benefits and perceived risks as two distinct themes so that a visible cause–effect diagram can be developed to facilitate the decision makers. A case study is conducted on a Taiwanese company—one of the world's leading manufacturers in the niche and specialized resistor markets. The findings suggest that the case company concern more about strategic-oriented benefits than economic-oriented benefits and more about subjective risks than technical risks. Some implications are addressed accordingly.

Abstract:Nowadays the technological progress allows us to have highly flexible solutions, easily accessible with lower levels of investment, which leads to many companies adopting SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) to support their business processes. Associated with this movement and considering the advantages of SaaS, it is important to understand whether work is being developed that is underutilized because companies are not taking advantage of it, and in this case it is necessary to understand the reasons thereof. This knowledge is important even for people who do not use or do not develop/provide SaaS, since sooner or later it will be unavoidable due to current trends. In the near future, nearly all decision-makers of IT strategies will be forced to consider adopting SaaS as an IT solution for the convenience benefits associated with technology or market competition. At that time they will have to know how to evaluate impacts and decide. Often, decision-makers of business strategies consider only the attractive incentives of using SaaS ignoring the impacts associated with new technologies. The need for tools and processes to assess these impacts before adopting a SaaS solution is crucial to ensure the sustainability of the information system, reduce uncertainty and facilitate decision making. This article presents a framework for evaluating impacts of SaaS called SIE (SaaS Impact Evaluation) which in addition to guidance for the present research, aims to provide guidelines for the collection, data analysis, impact assessment and decision making about including SaaS on the organizations strategic plans.

Abstract:Software as a service (SaaS) is an emerging model of software deployment, along with the development of information technology and the maturity of application software. Because of its advantages such as low-price, quick deployment, flexible pricing strategy and user defined, SaaS raised a storm by rewriting the software industry pattern. This paper reviewed the relevant researches about SaaS and theories of business model, and then analyzed SaaS business model innovation from three aspects value network nodes, value flow and structure, which brought competitive advantages for enterprise tenants, individual software vendors and the third-party software operation platform. Subsequently, we identified and illustrated our standpoints by the cases of Alisoft.com. Finally, we came to a conclusion and made some discussions.

Abstract:This study attempts to re-examine the role of attitude in voluntary information system IS acceptance and usage, which has often been discounted in the previous technology acceptance research. We extend the unidimensional view of attitude into a bidimensional one, because of the simultaneous existence of both positive and negative evaluation towards IS in technology acceptance behaviour. In doing so, attitude construct is divided into two components: satisfaction as the positive attitudinal component and dissatisfaction as the negative attitudinal component. We argue that satisfaction and dissatisfaction will interactively affect technology usage intention. Besides, we explore the predictors of satisfaction and dissatisfaction based on the disconfirmation theory. Empirical results from a longitudinal study on bulletin board system BBS usage confirm the interaction effect of satisfaction and dissatisfaction on usage intention. Moreover, perceived task-related value has a significant effect on satisfaction, while perceived personal value has a significant effect on dissatisfaction. We also discuss the theoretical and managerial implications of our findings.

Abstract:Cloud computing not only changes today's computing infrastructure, but also alters the way of obtaining computing resources, managing and delivering software and services. Meanwhile, cloud computing brings new issues, challenges, and needs in performance testing, evaluation and scalability measurement due to the special features of cloud computing, such as elasticity and scalability. This paper focuses on performance evaluation and scalability measurement issue for Software as a Service (SaaS) in clouds. It proposes new formal graphic models and metrics to evaluate SaaS performance and analyze system scalability in clouds. In addition, the paper reports an evaluation approach based on Amazon's EC2 cloud technology and detailed case study results using the proposed models and metrics.

How to Understand Post-Acceptance Information System Usage Behaviors: Pespective from is Success Model.

Abstract:The impact of information systems (IS) on organizational performance has gained enormous attention from both academics and practitioners. However, it is the post-acceptance IS use that actually help fully realize the IS potential. We identified three types of IS usage behaviors -routine use (RU), extended use (EU) and innovative use (IU), which can coexist in the post-acceptance stage and help with the work. Drawing on the IS success model, we proposed a research model with IS characteristics as external variables toward perceived usefulness (PU) and satisfaction to explain RU, EU and IU in respective. The relationships among three dimensions of IS characteristics -information quality, system quality and service quality were discussed further. As RU, EU and IU reflect various extent of IS use, we suggested that they are linked. Then the model was tested by a survey of 240 ERP system users. The results provided evidence that information quality and service quality influence PU and user satisfaction via system quality, and IS success model was a good basis for understanding RU, EU and IU. We also found that RU had a positive impact directly on EU but indirectly on IU via EU. This study helps bridge the gap between IS characteristics and prediction of different types of post-acceptance IS usage behaviors.

However, this model introduces significant security and privacy challenges. This research paper delves into these issues, highlighting the unique risks associated with SaaS platforms. The study explores common vulnerabilities such as data breaches, unauthorized access, data loss, and identity theft, which are exacerbated by the centralized nature of SaaS solutions where data is stored on remote servers managed by service providers. To address these challenges, the paper underscores the importance of robust security measures, including encryption, access controls, and secure software development practices. Additionally, it emphasizes the necessity for SaaS providers to adopt advanced privacy protection techniques like data anonymization and differential privacy to meet user expectations and comply with stringent legal regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Through a comprehensive review of literature and analysis of current SaaS security practices, the research identifies critical risks and provides strategic recommendations for enhancing security and privacy in SaaS environments. By integrating multiple layers of security throughout the software development lifecycle, enforcing strict access management protocols, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, SaaS providers can significantly mitigate risks and safeguard sensitive user data. The findings of this study highlight the imperative for continuous improvement in SaaS security strategies to keep pace with emerging threats and technological advancements. Ultimately, by prioritizing security and privacy, SaaS providers can not only protect their users but also gain a competitive edge in the increasingly crowded market of cloud services.

Abstract:Despite the need to better understand how customers of software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions perceive the quality of these software services and how these perceptions influence SaaS adoption and use, there is no extant measure that comprehensively captures service quality evaluations in SaaS. Based on previous SERVQUAL and SaaS literature, field interviews and focus groups, a card-sorting exercise, and two surveys of SaaS using companies, we develop, refine, and test SaaS-Qual, a zones-of-tolerance (ZOT)-based service quality measurement instrument specifically for SaaS solutions. Besides validating already established service quality dimensions (i.e., rapport, responsiveness, reliability, and features), we identify two new factors (i.e., security and flexibility) that are essential for the evaluation of service quality of SaaS solutions. SaaS-Qual demonstrates strong psychometric properties and shows high nomological validity within a framework that predicts the continued use of SaaS solutions by existing customers. In addition to developing a validated instrument that provides a fine-grained measurement of SaaS service quality, we also enrich existing research models on information systems continuance. Moreover, the SaaS-Qual instrument can be used as a diagnostic tool by SaaS providers and users alike to spot strengths and weaknesses in the service delivery of SaaS solutions.

Abstract:Software-as-a-service (SaaS) is a type of software service delivery model which encompasses a broad range of business opportunities and challenges. Users and service providers are reluctant to integrate their business into SaaS due to its security concerns while at the same time they are attracted by its benefits. This article highlights SaaS utility and applicability in different environments like cloud computing, mobile cloud computing, software defined networking and Internet of things. It then embarks on the analysis of SaaS security challenges spanning across data security, application security and SaaS deployment security. A detailed review of the existing mainstream solutions to tackle the respective security issues mapping into different SaaS security challenges is presented. Finally, possible solutions or techniques which can be applied in tandem are presented for a secure SaaS platform.
