Abstract:Computational intelligence is increasingly applied to complex decision-making challenges, leveraging its data analysis prowess. Hybrid human-artificial intelligence models enhance the grasp of intricate social behaviors, offering valuable insights for social computing and behavior modeling. Within this landscape, large-scale group decision-making (LSGDM) emerges as an invaluable asset for navigating intricate decision-making scenarios. LSGDM enlists the expertise of individuals who articulate their preferences via fuzzy preference relations (FPRs) that abide by additively consistent principles. Its ascendancy is underscored by its applicability and relevance in confronting multifarious decision-making conundrums. In the realm of LSGDM, machine learning methodologies, such as cluster analysis, are deployed to streamline decision-making procedures, particularly when confronted with inherent complexities. The consensus reaching process (CRP) serves as the cornerstone, ensuring that decision-makers (DMs) converge on a unified verdict. Consequently, comprehensive exploration of cluster analysis and CRP assumes a pivotal role in elevating the effectiveness of LSGDM. To further augment LSGDM, this study leverages a three-way clustering (TWC) approach grounded in adaptive fuzzy $c$-mean clustering. This stratagem categorizes DMs into discrete subgroups. Moreover, a consensus metric, embracing both cardinal and ordinal consensus considerations, is established. This metric serves as the foundation for computing DMs' intra-group weights and group weights. Moreover, this paper introduces a feedback mechanism imbued with identification and modification rules (directional rules). It incorporates a modification function that takes into account the consensus threshold, DMs' regret psychology and the consensus level. This modification function methodically derives modification parameters for the spectrum of DMs. Lastly, the viability and effectiveness of the LSGDM methodology proffered in this paper are substantiated via meticulous simulation and comparative analyses.

Abstract:Abstract To address the situation where the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) has problems with hesitant fuzzy preference relations (HFPRs), this paper develops a group decision making method considering the additive consistency and consensus simultaneously. First, a new normalized method for HFPRs is developed to address the situation where the evaluation information has different number of elements. Second, for improving the unacceptable consistent HFPRs, an algorithm is designed to derive acceptable consistent HFPRs. The main characteristic of the design algorithm is that the values that need to be revised are identified first, and then design the local adjustment process. Third, an algorithm is developed to obtain a group of normalized HFPRs (NHFPRs), considering the additive consistency of HFPRs. Fourth, for improving the individual consistency and group consensus simultaneously, an algorithm is designed to obtain a group of HFPRs with acceptable consistency and consensus. Finally, the method of determining the decision makers’ weights and a procedure for MCDM problems with HFPRs are given. An illustrative example in conjunction with comparative analysis is used to demonstrate the proposed method which is feasible and efficient for practical MCDM problems.

Abstract:As an effective tool to show the fuzziness of qualitative information, the probabilistic hesitant fuzzy set (PHFS) can utilize a group of membership degrees with a clear probability distribution to show the opinions of decision-maker (DM). Given this merit, many probabilistic hesitant fuzzy multi-criteria group decision-making (PHF-MCGDM) methods have been designed. However, most of the existing PHF-MCGDM methods have some limitations, including the difficulty of reflecting DMs' ambiguous and hesitant preferences for criteria weights and the inability to comprehensively show the impacts of DMs' irrational behaviors. To address these limitations, this paper develops a novel PHF-MCGDM method that integrates the defining interrelationships between ranked criteria (DIBR) approach and tri-reference point (TRP) theory. First, the PHF-DIBR approach is constructed to determine criteria weights by fully expressing DMs' ambiguous and hesitant preferences for the importance of criteria. Second, the novel probabilistic hesitant fuzzy correlation coefficient (NPHFCC) is developed for deriving the weights of DMs, which remedies the flaws of the existing correlation coefficients (CC). Moreover, TRP theory is used to describe the psychological behavior effects of DMs and derive the order of alternatives. Finally, the applicability of the proposed method is validated by the case about office flooring material selection, while the sensitivity and comparison analyses are also conducted to further prove its advantages and effectiveness.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop an interactive method for multiple attribute group decision making under fuzzy environment. The method can be used in situations where the information about attribute weights is partly known, the weights of decision makers are expressed in exact numerical values or triangular fuzzy numbers, and the attribute values are triangular fuzzy numbers. The method transforms fuzzy decision matrices into their expected decision matrices, constructs the corresponding normalized expected decision matrices by two simple formulas, and then aggregates these normalized expected decision matrices into a complex decision matrix. Moreover, the decision makers are asked to provide their preferences gradually in the course of interactions. By solving linear programming models, the method diminishes the given alternative set gradually, and finally finds the most preferred alternative. By using the method, the decision makers can provide and modify their preference information gradually in the process of decision making so as to make the decision result more reasonable. The method can not only reflect the importance of the given arguments and the ordered positions of the arguments, but also relieve the influence of unfair arguments on the decision result. Finally, a practical problem is used to illustrate the developed method.

Abstract:Recognizing the subjectivity in human judgment and the limits to human cognition, fuzzy linguistic variables and uncertain linguistic variables are widely used to express the preference information of the decision experts in Multi-Attribute Group Decision Making (MAGDM). This paper develops an MAGDM method to solve a decision problem in which the attribute values are fuzzy numbers characterized by uncertain linguistic variables, that is, dual uncertain Z-numbers. The notion of the dual uncertain Z-number is first proposed based on the classical Z-number. Next, the cloud model is introduced, together with a new notion of the dual comprehensive cloud. A method of transforming the dual uncertain Z-numbers into dual comprehensive clouds is proposed. Third, a new dual comprehensive cloud-weighted averaging operator (DCC-WA) is presented to aggregate the multiple dual comprehensive clouds. Fourth, a new dual comprehensive cloud-grey relational degree (DCC-GRD) is supplied, and a novel MAGDM method based on the DCC-GRD is proposed. Finally, a group decision making case of sustainable supplier selection is provided to validate the proposed method. A sensitivity analysis and comparison with several congeneric methods are conducted.

Abstract:<p>The hesitant fuzzy element (HFE), as an extension of fuzzy numbers, has received much attention and the occurrence probabilities of each membership in the HFEs are assumed to be equal, i.e., the decision makers (DMs) share the same preferences for each element. Anecdotal observations suggest otherwise. To address this issue, the hesitant probabilistic fuzzy set (HPFS) is proposed, which is more suitable for depicting the DMs' preferences in decision making. Research reports that psychological behavior matters in the decision-making process. Consequently, this paper proposes a multi-attribute group decision making method under a hesitant probabilistic fuzzy environment that considers the DMs' psychological state in the decision-making process. A weights determination model is constructed, incorporating objective decision-making information and the subjective preferences of the DMs based on a score function and the minimum relative entropy principle. Finally, an established case example is applied to validate the applicability of the proposed method, and comparative analysis is also completed to verify the validity of the proposed method.</p>

Abstract:As a decision information preference which includes membership degree (MD), non-membership degree (NMD), and probability, the probabilistic dual hesitant fuzzy set (PDHFS) is a crucial tool for effectively expressing uncertain information. In the domains of multi-attribute decision making (MADM) and multi-attribute group decision making (MAGDM), distance measures are extremely helpful tools. In this study, a novel PDHFS distance measure is put out, on which a MAGDM method that takes decision-makers’ (DMs’) psychological behavior into account is proposed. First, a novel distance measure is put forward to effectively assess the difference between different PDHFSs by adding consideration of the distances between MDs and between NMDs. Second, a similarity-trust analysis method based on the new distance measure is employed to calculate expert weights for integrating group decisions, and the group satisfaction index and regret theory are extended to a probabilistic dual hesitant fuzzy information environment. A MAGDM method based on the novel distance measure and regret theory is proposed. Finally, the proposed method is applied to the selection of radiation protection strategies in nuclear power plants, and it is also determined through parametric analysis that DMs’ tendency to avoid regret has an impact on the outcomes of decisions. When the method proposed in this study is compared to existing approaches, the findings demonstrate that the method’s performance in resolving MAGDM issues in a PDHFS environment is superior.

Abstract:Hesitant fuzzy set is a very useful technique in situations where there are some difficulties in determining the membership of an element to a set. Some aggregation methods have been developed for hesitant fuzzy information. Current aggregation methods are under the assumption that the criteria are independent. However, in real decision making problems, correlation is a common phenomenon between criteria. In this paper, we investigate multi-criteria group decision making problems where the criteria are correlative under hesitant fuzzy environment. Firstly, we propose the Generalized Hesitant Fuzzy Bonferroni Mean (GHFBM). Then, some of its desirable properties and special cases are studied in detail. Furthermore, the procedure of multi-criteria group decision making based on the GHFBM is introduced under hesitant fuzzy environment. Finally, a practical example about the financial strategy planning of a Chinese enterprise is provided to illustrate the developed method. Copyright © 2012 Binary Information Press.

Abstract:Different from the traditional two-way decision paradigm, three-way decisions (3WD) have been extensively explored in addressing realistic multi-attribute decision making (MADM) by virtue of its powerful performances in minimizing decision risks with the added non-commitment option. Since existing 3WD models can not efficiently handle MADM issues in the group setting with incomplete high-order fuzzy information systems (ISs), the current paper focuses on exploring viable three-way multi-attribute group decision making (MAGDM) methods in light of the multi-granularity 3WD paradigm under incomplete Pythagorean fuzzy (PF) environments. First, the notion of Multigranulation (MG) incomplete PF ISs is constructed. Then, optimistic, pessimistic and adjustable MG PF probabilistic rough sets (PRSs) are proposed after patching lost values. Afterwards, the decision-making-driven 3WD method is extended via adjustable MG PF PRSs, and an improved technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method with entropy weights is utilized for optimal granularity selections. According to adjustable MG PF PRSs and the improved TOPSIS method, a new three-way MAGDM method is eventually established. At last, two case studies are investigated in the background of mine ventilator fault diagnosis (MVFD) and air quality evaluations (AQE), and several comparative experiments and sensitivity analysis are performed for presenting the effectiveness of the constructed theoretical methodology.

Abstract:In a multi-criteria group decision making process, it is often hard to obtain a solution due to the possible conflict preferences from different participants and the undeterministic weights assigned to each criterion. This problem can be defined as to identify a set of weights for the given criteria to achieve a compromise of the conflict on different preferences. When such a compromise weight does not exist, we need to adjust (to reverse or to withdraw) some or all of the preferences from different participants. This paper describes a minimax principle based procedure of preference adjustments with a finite number of steps to find the compromise weight. At each iteration, we either find the weight or identify some ‘wrong’ preferences. We also define a consistency index for each participant to measure the distance between the individuals' preference and the final group decision. Corresponding theoretical work is referred to in support of the procedure, and numerical examples are provided for illustration. Abstract:In group decision-making (GDM) problems, the elicitation of preferences from decision makers (DMs) and consensus reaching process are two critical issues to be resolved. Many kinds of preference relations have been proposed in the recent two decades. In this paper, we propose a novel pairwise comparison structure called fuzzy-uncertainty-based distributed preference relation (FUDPR), which could not only indicate the intensity of preferred, non-preferred, indifferent and uncertain information of one alternative against another simultaneously, but also has the ability to represent local ignorance expressed by DMs. The FUDPR introduces the set of consecutive evaluation grades into the distributed preference relation (DPR) where only discrete single evaluation grades and global ignorance can be modeled in the preference relation. The missing values in FUDPR are estimated by the defined score function. Two kinds of consensus reaching process (CRP) are then proposed, namely soft and hard consensus mechanism, respectively, which are suitable for different decision-making situations. Both of them consider the individual dissimilarity, trust relations and self-confidence in the designed feedback mechanism. Comparative analysis is performed between the proposed method and other state-of-the-art pairwise comparison GDM models. An illustrative example of life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) is proposed to demonstrate the rationality and effectiveness of the proposed method in supporting real-world GDM problems.

Abstract:Heterogeneous multi-attribute group decision making (HMAGDM) is a kind of complex decision making problem, which exists widely in reality. The purpose of this paper is to extend data envelopment analysis (DEA) for solving the HMAGDM problems whose attribute values include real numbers, intervals, intuitionistic fuzzy numbers, triangular fuzzy numbers, trapezoidal fuzzy numbers and linguistic variables. For this purpose, a method to HMAGDM based on a fuzzy DEA cross-efficiency model is proposed. In the proposed method, heterogeneous information is uniformly transformed into intervals, which are expressed as variables with unknown parameters. On this basis, a fuzzy DEA cross-efficiency model is established to calculate the individual cross-efficiency intervals of decision making units (DMUs). The model takes into consideration all possible attribute values of each DMU in the intervals, and obtains stable evaluation results through peer evaluation mode and iteration. Then, a maximizing group consensus model is established to calculate the weights of decision makers (DMs). Given the weights of DMs, the individual cross-efficiency intervals can be aggregated into the collective cross-efficiency interval, and DMU can be ranked based on this. An example of supplier selection is presented to illustrate the practicability and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:With respect to multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) problems, where attribute values take the form of interval grey trapezoid fuzzy linguistic variables (IGTFLVs) and the weights (including expert and attribute weight) are unknown, improved grey relational MAGDM methods are proposed. First, the concept of IGTFLV, the operational rules, the distance between IGTFLVs, and the projection formula between the two IGTFLV vectors are defined. Second, the expert weights are determined by using the maximum proximity method based on the projection values between the IGTFLV vectors. The attribute weights are determined by the maximum deviation method and the priorities of alternatives are determined by improved grey relational analysis. Finally, an example is given to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method and the flexibility of IGTFLV.
Group decision making based on relative projection between fuzzy preference relations

Abstract:Group decision making (GDM) has been widely focused on for coping with the complexity of a practical decision making problem. This paper proposes a relative projection-driven GDM model with fuzzy preference relations (FPRs). First, a novel additive consistency index of FPRs is constructed using the variance of relative projections between column/row vectors in two FPRs, which is called the relative projection variance consistency index (RPVCI). The thresholds of RPVCI for FPRs with acceptable additive consistency (AAC) are calculated using the simulation method. For improving consistency of FPRs, a convergent iteration algorithm is constructed by equipping subjective and objective adjustment parameters. Second, the group consensus level is captured using relative projections of individual FPRs on the collective one. An iteration model is reported to optimize the consensus degree by combining the weights of experts with a comprehensive adjustment coefficient that depends on both subjective and objective factors. Third, a novel GDM algorithm is proposed by integrating the two proposed iteration models. Comparisons with some existing models are offered by carrying out a case study to show the novelty and advantage of the proposed GDM model.

Abstract:In today's world, making decisions as a group is common, whether choosing a restaurant or deciding on a holiday destination. Group decision-making (GDM) systems play a crucial role by facilitating consensus among participants with diverse preferences. Discussions are one of the main tools people use to make decisions. When people discuss alternatives, they use natural language to express their opinions. Traditional GDM systems generally require participants to provide explicit opinion values to the system. However, in real-life scenarios, participants often express their opinions through some text (e.g., in comments, social media, messengers, etc.). This paper introduces a sentiment and emotion-aware multi-criteria fuzzy GDM system designed to enhance consensus-reaching effectiveness in group settings. This system incorporates natural language processing to analyze sentiments and emotions expressed in textual data, enabling an understanding of participant opinions besides the explicit numerical preference inputs. Once all the experts have provided their preferences for the alternatives, the individual preferences are aggregated into a single collective preference matrix. This matrix represents the collective expert opinion regarding the other options. Then, sentiments, emotions, and preference scores are inputted into a fuzzy inference system to get the overall score. The proposed system was used for a small decision-making process - choosing the hotel for a vacation by a group of friends. Our findings demonstrate that integrating sentiment and emotion analysis into GDM systems allows everyone's feelings and opinions to be considered during discussions and significantly improves consensus among participants.

A Multi-Attribute Group Decision Making Method for Express Supplier Selection Based on Generalized Fuzzy Soft Set

Abstract:At present, the express industry is developing rapidly and a variety of express companies emerge in endlessly. On this basis, the selection of express suppliers is particularly important. In this paper, a multi-attribute group decision making (MAGDM) method based on generalized fuzzy soft set (GFSS) is proposed for the selection of express delivery companies. Firstly, considering the cognition of decision makers, we introduce the adjustment factor to construct GFSS by using fuzzy soft set (FSS) information. Then, a similarity measure is used to identify the weight of decision makers (DMs). On this basis, we develop the GFSS Bonferroni mean operator (GFSSBM) by Bonferroni mean operator, which can be used for aggregating the information of gleaned from the DMs into collective information. The attribute weight is determined by information entropy, then calculate and sort the score of each express company using score function. Finally, through the case analysis and comparison between GFSS and FSS method, it shows that the application of the MAGDM method in the decision making of express companies is scientific and reasonable.

Abstract:Fuzzy preference relations (FPRs) are potent in denoting the pairwise comparison of objects. Besides the consistency analysis, the consensus is critical to making decision results reasonably in group decision making (GDM). Different from current research that either adopts feedback interactive method or optimal model-based total minimum adjustment method, this paper introduces new consensus adjustment mechanisms in the perspective of cooperative games, which determine decision makers (DMs) consistency and consensus adjustments by considering all consistency and consensus adjustment coalitions (CCACs). Compared with previous methods, the main merit of the new method is the reasonable and fair allocation of consistency and consensus adjustment. To achieve this goal, this paper first regards DMs as players in cooperative games and considers each DM coalition's consistency and consensus adjustment as its payoff. Then, two crucial single-valued payoff indices are offered to allocate the consistency and consensus adjustments to DMs. The axioms of these payoff indices identify rationality and efficiency. Further, a new method is performed that follows the ordinal consistency, acceptable additive consistency, and consensus. Finally, a case study is offered to show the concrete application of the new method, and a comparison is carried out.

Abstract:<p>Triangular fuzzy number (TFN) reflects the membership by the function, which can express decision maker's (DM's) information more accurately in the complex decision making problem. In complex multi-attribute group decision making (MAGDM), how to rank TFNs and get the best alternative from MAGDM are two important issues. Existing ranking methods of TFNs only consider the minimum value, the maximum value and the most likely value, which ignores the other possible values. To avoid the limitation, the preference degree of TFNs is defined combining the probability with possibility of TFN, which considers all the possible values in TFNs. Then a preference degree-based algorithm is designed to rank TFNs. Furthermore, the triangular fuzzy MAGDM is investigated. Considering the group consensus of DMs, the attitude-based individual consensus index of DM is defined and applied to determine DMs' weights. The attribute weights are obtained by the comprehensive utility ratings of alternatives with a control parameter. Thus, a new method is proposed to solve triangular fuzzy MAGDM problem. Finally, a public experience evaluation in new smart city is applied to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed MAGDM method.</p>

Abstract:Multi-Attribute Group Decision-Making (MAGDM) problems have become more common, with interval-valued hesitant fuzzy set (IVHFS) being found to be suitable for describing some complex fuzzy information. This paper first determined the additional relationships between generalized interval-valued hesitant fuzzy weighted averaging (GIVHFWA) operators and generalized interval-valued hesitant fuzzy weighted geometric (GIVHFWG) operators, and proposed mean and variance for a sequence of interval-valued hesitant fuzzy elements (IVHFEs). This paper then developed an outranking approach for MAGDM based on these operators to solve a consensus selection problem. In the first stage, which was based on the k-means clustering method for IVHFEs with feedback strategy taking both local and global consensus into consideration and a new consensus measure derived from the proposed variance measure, a compromised consensus was determined for each group involved in the decision. In the second stage, which was based on a probabilistic interval-valued hesitant fuzzy outranking method, the optimal alternative was determined based on the consensus information from the first stage. A case study on the enterprise credit risk assessment was given to illustrate the viability of the proposed method, which was then also compared with other current methods to demonstrate its greater flexibility and potential value.
