Abstract:Simplified neutrosophic sets (SNSs) can effectively solve the uncertainty problems, especially those involving the indeterminate and inconsistent information. Considering the advantages of SNSs, a new approach for multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems is developed under the simplified neutrosophic environment. First, the prioritized weighted average operator and prioritized weighted geometric operator for simplified neutrosophic numbers (SNNs) are defined, and the related theorems are also proved. Then two novel effective cross-entropy measures for SNSs are proposed, and their properties are proved as well. Furthermore, based on the proposed prioritized aggregation operators and cross-entropy measures, the ranking methods for SNSs are established in order to solve MCDM problems. Finally, a practical MCDM example for coping with supplier selection of an automotive company is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed methods. Moreover, the same example-based comparison analysis of between the proposed methods and other existing methods is carried out.

Abstract:This work develops a novel approach for multicriteria group decision-making (MCGDM) problems based on the Choquet integral with simplified neutrosophic information. In such an environment, the truth-membership, indeterminacy-membership, and falsity-membership degrees for each element are singleton subsets in [0, 1]. In this paper, considering the fact that the Einstein t-norms and t-conorms can manage the relation between the computed objectives, the Einstein operations of simplified neutrosophic numbers (SNNs) are defined. Then, three definitions for the distance of SNNs are presented. Subsequently, taking advantage of the Choquet integral and that it can reflect the correlation of objectives, two aggregation operators for SNNs are also defined: specifically, the simplified neutrosophic Choquet integral weighted averaging operator and the simplified neutrosophic Choquet integral weighted geometric operator. Also, the properties related to these two aggregation operators are discussed in detail. Additionally, based on the aggregation operators and the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), a novel approach is developed to resolve MCGDM problems based on SNNs and unknown weight information, which has not been extensively discussed in the existing literature. Finally, this work provides a practical example to illustrate the practicality and effectiveness of the proposed approach; a comparison analysis is also presented based on the same example.
Simplified Neutrosophic Sets Based on Interval Dependent Degree for Multi-Criteria Group Decision-Making Problems

Abstract:In this paper, a new approach and framework based on the interval dependent degree for multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) problems with simplified neutrosophic sets (SNSs) is proposed. Firstly, the simplified dependent function and distribution function are defined. Then, they are integrated into the interval dependent function which contains interval computing and distribution information of the intervals. Subsequently, the interval transformation operator is defined to convert simplified neutrosophic numbers (SNNs) into intervals, and then the interval dependent function for SNNs is deduced. Finally, an example is provided to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, together with its comparative analysis. In addition, uncertainty analysis, which can reflect the dynamic change of the final result caused by changes in the decision makers’ preferences, is performed in different distribution function situations. That increases the reliability and accuracy of the result.

Abstract:Single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic numbers (SVTNNs) have a strong capacity to depict uncertain, inconsistent, and incomplete information about decision-making problems. Preference relations represent a practical tool for presenting decision makers' preference information regarding various alternatives. The purpose of this paper is to propose single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic preference relations (SVTNPRs) as a strategy for tackling multi-criteria decision-making problems. First, this paper briefly reviews basic concepts about neutrosophic sets and SVTNNs and defines a new comparison method and new operations for SVTNNs. Next, two aggregation operators, the single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic weighted arithmetic average operator and the single-valued trapezoidal neutrosophic weighted geometric average operator, are proposed for applications in information fusion. Then, this paper discusses the definitions of completely consistent SVTNPRs and acceptably consistent SVTNPRs. Finally, we outline a decision-making method based on SVTNPRs to address green supplier selection problems, and we conduct a comparison study and discussion to illustrate the rationality and effectiveness of the decision-making method.

Abstract:A multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method with single-valued neutrosophic information is developed based on the Partitioned Heronian Mean (PHM) operator and the Shapley fuzzy measure, which recognizes correlation among the selection criteria. Motivated by the PHM operator and Shapley fuzzy measure, two new aggregation operators, namely the single-valued neutrosophic PHM operator and the weighted single-valued neutrosophic Shapley PHM operator, are defined, and their corresponding properties and some special cases are investigated. An MCDM model is applied to solve the single-valued neutrosophic problem where weight information is not completely known. An example is provided to validate the proposed method.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce concept of bipolar neutrosophic set and its some operations. Also, we propose score, certainty and accuracy functions to compare the bipolar neutrosophic sets. Then, we develop the bipolar neutrosophic weighted average operator and bipolar neutrosophic weighted geometric operatör to aggregate the bipolar neutrosophic information. Furthermore, based on the neutrosophic weighted geometric(aritmetic) operatör and the score, certainty and accuracy functions, we develop a bipolar neutrosophic multiple criteria decision-making approach, in which the evaluation values of alternatives on the attributes take the form of bipolar neutrosophic numbers to select the most desirable one(s). Finally, a numerical example of the method was given to demonstrate the application and effectiveness of the developed method.

Abstract:As a generalization of fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets, neutrosophic sets have been developed to represent uncertain, imprecise, incomplete, and inconsistent information existing in the real world. And interval neutrosophic sets (INSs) have been proposed exactly to address issues with a set of numbers in the real unit interval, not just a specific number. However, there are fewer reliable operations for INSs, as well as the INS aggregation operators and decision making method. For this purpose, the operations for INSs are defined and a comparison approach is put forward based on the related research of interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IVIFSs) in this paper. On the basis of the operations and comparison approach, two interval neutrosophic number aggregation operators are developed. Then, a method for multicriteria decision making problems is explored applying the aggregation operators. In addition, an example is provided to illustrate the application of the proposed method.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose three similarity measure methods for single valued neutrosophic refined sets and interval neutrosophic refined sets based on Jaccard, Dice and Cosine similarity measures of single valued neutrosophic sets and interval neutrosophic sets. Furthermore, we suggest two multi-criteria decision making method under single valued neutrosophic refined environment and interval neutrosophic refined environment, and give applications of proposed multi-criteria decision making methods. Finally we suggested a consistency analysis method for similarity measures between interval neutrosophic refined sets and give an application to demonstrate process of the method.

Abstract:The outranking multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method focuses on the systematic comparison of alternatives and the non-compensation among criteria to conduct decision analysis. Z-numbers are powerful tools for characterizing decision-making information and identifying information reliability. This paper aims to explore Z-number outranking theories and the corresponding MCDM method on the basis of the idea of Elimination and Choice Translating Reality (ELECTRE) III, which is a very popular and capable outranking model. The concordance and discordance indices of Z-numbers are defined by processing their bimodal uncertainty fully. And an objective computation method is investigated to determine the values of thresholds in these indices. Further, three types of novel outranking relations, including dominance, support and opposition relations, for Z-numbers are presented by comparing these indices systematically. Then, an extended MCDM method with the distillation and flow ranking rules is proposed by detecting the outranking relations among alternatives under multiple criteria and carrying out the outranking aggregation and exploitation. To verify the applicability and effectivity of the proposed method, an illustrative example is provided, and a simulation test and a comparison discussion are conducted.

Abstract:Abstract This article contributes to the advancement and evolution of outranking decision-making methodologies, with a novel essay on the ELimination and Choice Translating REality (ELECTRE) family of methods. Its primary target is to unfold the constituents and expound the implementation of the ELECTRE II method for group decision making in complex Pythagorean fuzzy framework. This results in the complex Pythagorean fuzzy ELECTRE II method. By inception, it is intrinsically superior to models using one-dimensional data. It is designed to perform the pairwise comparisons of the alternatives using the core notions of concordance, discordance and indifferent sets, which is then followed by the construction of complex Pythagorean fuzzy concordance and discordance matrices. Further, the strong and weak outranking relations are developed by the comparison of concordance and discordance indices with the concordance and discordance levels. Later, the forward, reverse and average rankings of the alternatives are computed by the dint of strong and weak outranking graphs. This methodology is supported by a case study for the selection of wastewater treatment process, and by a numerical example for the selection of the best cloud solution for a big data project. Its consistency is confirmed by an effectiveness test and comparison analysis with the Pythagorean fuzzy ELECTRE II and complex Pythagorean fuzzy ELECTRE I methods.

Abstract:Single-valued neutrosophic sets have the potential to be effective in dealing with complexity issues, particularly those involving three components: truthness, indeterminacy, and falsity. In a single-valued neutrosophic context, this article aims to develop some completely new operational laws and aggregation operators (AOs). In this context, we offer some new neutral or fair operational rules that embrace the notion of proportionate distribution to establish a neutral or fair cure for the truthfulness, indeterminacy, and falsehood of single-valued neutrosophic set. Subsequently, based on the developed operational laws, we create the single-valued neutrosophic fairly weighted average operator and single-valued neutrosophic fairly ordered weighted averaging operator. These emerging aggregation operators are more general than previous single-valued neutrosophic aggregation operators, and also provide reliable and accurate information. In addition, we design a multi-criteria decision-making algorithm using these new single-valued neutrosophic aggregation operators with partial weight information. A real-life application of the proposed algorithm is presented, thus illustrating its step-by-step procedure in detail. Furthermore, the proposed multi-criteria decision-making approach based on single-valued neutrosophic fairly (ordered) weighted averaging operators is compared with some existing approaches to demonstrate its practicality, validity, and superiority.

Abstract:Purpose Single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs) are efficient models to address the complexity issues potentially with three components, namely indeterminacy, truthness and falsity. Taking advantage of SVNSs, this paper introduces some new aggregation operators (AOs) for information fusion of single-valued neutrosophic numbers (SVNNs) to meet multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) challenges. Design/methodology/approach Einstein operators are well-known AOs for smooth approximation, and prioritized operators are suitable to take advantage of prioritized relationships among multiple criteria. Motivated by the features of these operators, new hybrid aggregation operators are proposed named as "single-valued neutrosophic Einstein prioritized weighted average (SVNEPWA) operator" and "single-valued neutrosophic Einstein prioritized weighted geometric (SVNEPWG) operators." These hybrid aggregation operators are more efficient and reliable for information aggregation. Findings A robust approach for MCGDM problems is developed to take advantage of newly developed hybrid operators. The effectiveness of the proposed MCGDM method is demonstrated by numerical examples. Moreover, a comparative analysis and authenticity analysis of the suggested MCGDM approach with existing approaches are offered to examine the practicality, validity and superiority of the proposed operators. Originality/value The study reveals that by choosing a suitable AO as per the choice of the expert, it will provide a wide range of compromise solutions for the decision-maker.

Abstract:In this paper we present a new approach to solve multi-attribute decision making problems in intuitionistic fuzzy environment. This approach is based on a new ranking method of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, in which the evaluated values (in the form of intervals) of the same alternative with different attributes are considered as one unified entity. According to people's intuition, the ranking method proposed in this paper is mainly grounded on a revised score function and a revised accuracy function of intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Different from the traditional methods, in this new approach, the degree of membership, the degree of nonmembership and the degree of hesitation are considered with various importance in reflecting the true image of the respective alternative. Furthermore, an optimization model is established to estimate the relative degree of importance of each quantity. Finally, two practical examples are provided to illustrate our approach.

Abstract:A simplified neutrosophic set (containing interval and single-valued neutrosophic sets) can be used for the expression and application in indeterminate decision-making problems because three elements in the simplified neutrosophic set (including interval and single valued neutrosophic sets) are characterized by its truth, falsity, and indeterminacy degrees. Under a simplified neutrosophic environment, therefore, this paper firstly defines simplified neutrosophic asymmetry measures. Then we propose a normalized symmetry measure and a weighted symmetry measure of simplified neutrosophic sets and develop a simplified neutrosophic multiple attribute decision-making method based on the weighted symmetry measure. All alternatives can be ranked through the weighted symmetry measure between the ideal solution/alternative and each alternative, and then the best one can be determined. Finally, an illustrative example on the selection of manufacturing schemes (alternatives) in the flexible manufacturing system demonstrates the applicability of the proposed method in a simplified (interval and single valued) neutrosophic setting, and then the decision-making method based on the proposed symmetry measure is in accord with the ranking order and best choice of existing projection and bidirectional projection-based decision-making methods and strengthens the resolution/discrimination in the decision-making process corresponding to the comparative example.

Abstract:We can formulate complex automation systems with advanced decision-making methods. This work proposes a new multi-criteria group-based decision-making (MCGDM) method based on the linguistic neutrosophic cloud (LNC). As an efficient linguistic expression, the linguistic neutrosophic set (LNS) introduces linguistic terminology into a neutrosophic set to make it more complex. However, there are inherent problems with linguistic values and neutrosophic sets. First, existing operators cannot handle linguistic neutrosophic numbers (LNN) with extreme values while producing distorted results. Second, the subscript-based computation of linguistic values does not reflect the change of ambiguity during the operation. Third, the literature review rarely considers the randomness of uncertain variables. To eliminate the drawbacks of previous studies, this paper proposes a multi-criteria group-based decision-making (MCGDM) method considering the linguistic neutrosophic cloud (LNC). The proposed method presents a distance measure for LNCs based on Wasserstein distance and develops an improved MCGDM method based on weighted modified partial Hausdorff distance. With an extensive simulation, the feasibility of the proposed method is verified by solving an auto part selection problem. Finally, we show the superiority of the proposed method through a comparison with four different aggregation operators of LNNs in the literature review.

Abstract:Interval neutrosophic sets (INSs) capturing the uncertainties by characterizing into the intervals of the truth, the indeterminacy, and the falsity membership degrees, is a more flexible way to explore the decision-making applications. In this paper, we develop a nonlinear programming (NP) model based on the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), to solve decision-making problems in which criterion values and their importance are given in the form of interval neutrosophic numbers (INNs). Based on the concept of closeness coefficient, we firstly construct a pair of the nonlinear fractional programming model and then transform it into the linear programming model. Furthermore, to determine the ranking of considered alternatives, likelihood-based comparison relations are constructed. Finally, an illustrative example demonstrates the applicability of the proposed method for dealing with decision making problems with incomplete knowledge.

Abstract:In this paper, multi-criteria decision-making MCDM problems based on the qualitative flexible multiple criteria method QUALIFLEX, in which the criteria values are expressed by multi-valued neutrosophic information, are investigated. First, multi-valued neutrosophic sets MVNSs, which allow the truth-membership function, indeterminacy-membership function and falsity-membership function to have a set of crisp values between zero and one, are introduced. Then the likelihood of multi-valued neutrosophic number MVNN preference relations is defined and the corresponding properties are also discussed. Finally, an extended QUALIFLEX approach based on likelihood is explored to solve MCDM problems where the assessments of alternatives are in the form of MVNNs; furthermore an example is provided to illustrate the application of the proposed method, together with a comparison analysis.

Abstract:Cone distribution functions from statistics are turned into Multi-Criteria Decision Making tools. It is demonstrated that this procedure can be considered as an upgrade of the weighted sum scalarization insofar as it absorbs a whole collection of weighted sum scalarizations at once instead of fixing a particular one in advance. As examples show, this type of scalarization--in contrast to a pure weighted sum scalarization-is also able to detect ``non-convex" parts of the Pareto frontier. Situations are characterized in which different types of rank reversal occur, and it is explained why this might even be useful for analyzing the ranking procedure. The ranking functions are then extended to sets providing unary indicators for set preferences which establishes, for the first time, the link between set optimization methods and set-based multi-objective optimization. A potential application in machine learning is outlined.

Abstract:Considering the limitations of interval neutrosophic set (INS), multivalued neutrosophic set (MVNS), and neutrosophic cubic set (NCS) in describing uncertainty, respectively, this study proposes a multivalue neutrosophic cubic set (MVNCS). Originating from the combination of INS and MVNS, MVNCS is regarded as the general form of NCS. First, some basic operations of MVNCS and the similarity measures of MVNCS are defined. Second, considering the complexity of actual decision-making problems, the Pythagorean reliability measure of MVNCS is further developed to process the evaluation indicators and attribute weights given by decision-makers more accurately. Third, a multicriteria decision-making approach under the multivalue neutrosophic cubic environment is proposed based on the above measures. Finally, an example of investment options that follow sensitivity and comparative analysis provided to justify the advantages of our method is given.
